I am commenting only on the buffet - we didnt try the sushi or Mongolian grill. Very disappointing. Most food was very bland. Vegetable lo mein tasted strongly fishy, crab Rangoon was sweet and not crispy. Many items on the buffet were mislabeled - perhaps they forgot to switch out the signs? Large calamari rings, but they were rubbery and tasteless. Surprisingly, every dish with shrimp featured fresh, plump shrimps - excellent! Desserts were all pre-prepared, mass-market. Very clean overall; food displays were clean and appealing, and well-plenished. Very attentive staff. On our visit, there was not a single Asian customer dining in this Asian dinery. To me, its always a bad sign not to see an ethnic diner in their homelands restaurant. For us, not worth a second visit because of poor quality food. Approx. $17 per person on an early Saturday night. We have been to the Hokkaidos in S. St. Louis, and the difference in the quality and taste of their food compared to this Hokkaidos is astounding.

My friends and family and I LOVE this buffet! It is quite expansive, including a large selection of sushi rolls (the biggest reason Im a regular), a fresh Mongolian Grill buffet with a large selection of foods to be prepared by a chef, and snow crab legs on Sundays and some holidays (Valentines Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas). I am a frequent visitor. When crab legs are served, be prepared to wait 15+ minutes in line JUST for the crab legs, as this restaurant has never been prepared well enough to keep up with the demand EVERY time I have been. This is very frustrating and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Also, the hostesses and wait staff leave much to be desired. Not professional or timely, its a battle to be seated and receive drink refills. All in all, the food is FABULOUS, though the service is not. I believe that they operate on less staff members than required to keep up with refilling drinks, cleaning off tables, keeping fresh food cooked and available (mainly crab legs on Sundays).

One star would be giving this place TOO MUCH credit. I came in with my boyfriend and first went to the hibachi grill. After that my boyfriend continued to get a plate of sushi and a couple of other things. We sat down to eat and the first bite I took of the hibachi steak, I kid you not, tasted like low quality dog meat... Not that I know what high quality dog meat is. I did not touch anymore if that plate after. I then continued to try a piece of my boyfriends sushi, immediately spitting it out after it was in my mouth, worst sushi I have ever had. I did not eat anymore after that. When we went to pay I tried to explain that I was completely unsatisfied and because I only took one bite did not feel obligated to pay the whole fare that was to be charged. The manager did not compromise at all and I ended up paying $15 for one bite of trash I took. DO NOT GO HERE.

My fiance and I had heard good things about this place but the food was disgusting the sessame chicken was soggy the sweet and sour chicken tasted like nothing but grease and slime as well as the shrimp was grey and just barely cooked enough to eat we barely ate anything and still were charged 38$ for the whole 10 minutes we were there! Also the rice crispy treats had something brown in it and it looked like dog food so we talked to a manager and asked he said it was cocopuffs refused to discount anything and tried to give us a flyer with other days hours we told him we wouldnt be back and he said nothing no customer service skills at all!!! We will never go here again!

Id rate Hokkaido on the higher side of "Fair", but not exactly "Good". After reading all of the outstanding reviews, my husband and I decided to try this place. He made a beeline for the sushi, but ended up picking fish bones out of his teeth through the rest of dinner. I prefer hot food, so I sampled a number of those dishes and some of them were pretty good, but most of them were just OK. The pineapple chicken was very good - crispy and flavorful. Everything else hit a little off the mark (the crab rangoons tasted very strongly of honey, which was really weird) and almost everything I ate wasnt properly hot, more lukewarm. "Mediocre" is a good word for this place.

I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend shortly after moving to the area. My favorite item on the buffet was the pineapple chicken. There are tons of items to choose from on the buffet, so if you find something that you dont like (the sesame chicken, for instance–yuck), its really not a big deal. The only real problem I had with this place was that the food was not kept hot. Well, some entrées were hardly warm. I would recommend this place to families, since there is such a large selection. There is something for everyone. Pretty sure I even saw fried chicken. The price is a little high, but the atmosphere is nice and the service is good.

Usually my family loves this place, but the last two times we all came down with food poisoning. This last time (7/11/15, around 6pm) was intense. 30 minutes down the road after leaving, I had the worst stomache ache Ive ever experienced. Followed by severe diarrhea and cold chills... my wife is experiencing similar but not as severe symptoms. Both my toddler daughters also got sick. The food is awesome but there must a problem with the handling. I will never go back. er leaving

The food looked like nothing i would ever want to eat and tasted even worse. The reason i give it a 1 is for the hibachi cook.. he did good..even though i was nervous from looking at all that cross contamination i had to eat bc well i was really hungry. Cost was 48.00 and some change... for 3 people that left hungry .. the shshi made no sense it was like they took the leftovers or extras and rolled them up n rice. Dont go! Dont waste ur money! Mc donalds serves better food.

food isnt bad but the atmosphere is horrible. weve been multiple times but tonight was our last. a group of unattended children were running through knocking into people and turning over chairs. they even vomited on a lady. half the restaurant left and im being literal. multiple people complained including us but they didnt care. even customers were yelling at these kids. we paid 60 to eat in chaos. its always crowded but tonight was the last straw.

Went to Hibachi grill, I wanted my chicken cooked well done, the guy cooking told me, I will grill your food they way u want, after you give me a tip, (what the heck )I just paid 12.99 I use debit so I would tip on debit card, this guy is very rude, do your job, a tip is given once u DO YOUR JOB, will never go back here again, the wait staff was nice , the food was ok, not worth coming back for, and the bathrooms were terrible.

We had a customer vomit next to us and the waitresses and the manager did not care to clean it up. We couldnt even finish our food. Contacting the health department because even when we got up and told them we werent paying, which kind you he made us pay and gave us a whopping 20% off, it still had not been cleaned. It had been a good 40 minutes. Never going here again. Rude and the staff sucks.
