Having never been to the restaurant I was very excited. Upon sitting down in our booth our server greeted us. She did this by saying "Hi." We never learned her name and she never welcomed us to the restaurant. She never told us the specials. We asked for drink specials to which she replied "we have none." Ok...I then ordered a glass of pinot grigio. Asked for her to recommend a good one that they carry. She then offered me 2 different kinds (not describing either) and told me the price of each glass. She acted as though I couldnt afford the $15 glass. She paid much attention to my boyfriend but was extremely cold and rude to me. Then we ordered saganaki. While we were waiting for the appetizer, she brought over a basket of bread and said "here, thought you may like this to snack on until your saganaki is ready." There were 4 rolls in the basket. We ate them. When she returned with the cheese she proceeded to chastize us for eating ALL the bread...because, she said, that it was for our saganaki! Ok...then after we scoured the menu trying to decide what to order -we find out, from our own efforts, that they have 1/2 price burgers on mondays. Great. So she comes back and I ask her to describe what their burgers are like (hand pattied, fresh, frozen???) To which she replied "theyre half price and we have 14 different kinds." We decided to get an order of calamari. My boyfriend and I couldnt remember what "fritti" meant. So I asked our server what kind of calamari it was. Fried or grilled. She looked less than willing to be helpful, as if I was a huge inconvenience. What a horrible experience. We will go back but if I find out that she is our server I will immediately ask to be moved to a different section. Such a waste of what couldve been a nice, fun and romantic evening. Just fyi: she has shoulder (maybe a touch shorter) length, dark brown hair. And I believe she wore glasses.

Walkin for two on Friday night, seated quickly. Waited 10 minutes for server. Took order, 5 minutes for drinks. 30 minutes for appetizer (steak buchetta was almost raw), +15 minutes for salad (lettuce was not fresh), +30 minutes for entrees. Ribs (house special) over cooked, ny steak rare (ordered medium). I finished my entrée while we waited for someone to come back... finally a bus boy helped us find our server. Server said she could "warm up" the steak (really???). Said we had to go, then she asked if we wanted to take it home (as is, lol) and looked surprised when I said no. Manager took the steak off the bill (he was a nice guy). Probably wont be going back anytime soon, too expensive for the experience. Oh, they think potato salad is seasoned potato wedges with some white crap with tomatos on top. Wish I would have taken a picture.

Had a great time here- WONDERFUL food & selections. We were traveling & actually ate here 2 nights in a row, we enjoyed it so much the first night. LOVED the Chateaubriand for two PACKED with roasted FABULOUS vegetables! Most restaurants are skimpy on vegs other than potatoes-. Delicious chocolate mousse. Filet Surf & turf done perfectly, steak Diane also perfectly done. All meat very tender. Lemon tart- just "Okay" but apple pecan bread pudding great also. PERFECT service- delightful, friendly lady had just been there 2 weeks. Food came fast- drinks were generous sized. I asked for a cherry in my drink- got 4-YAY! :-0 Quite eclectic decor: from rough hewn wood beams near ceiling, Colonial lamps near fireplace, some leopard fabric backed chairs- and many art Nouveau posters- oh, well, all was enjoyed.

We had a terrible experience. Our appetizers were under cooked and our steak was badly burned on the outside (like crispy charcoal) but still more rare than we liked on the inside. Our bill was nearly $100.00 for two people. I kept expecting to see Chef Ramsey walk through the front door. I seriously hope that we just caught them on very bad night. All the other reviews I read were favorable which is what helped make our decision to dine there. The staff was friendly, and the decor was nice. Overall, We very much regretted or decision and we will not be returning again.

Ate there both nights while ion St. Charles Jan 11 and 12/16. First night have the prime rib med rare, it was good and it was also huge. Second night I had the 16oz center cut strip loin steak, med rare, one half wasnt too bad BUT the other half was close to well done, dry tough, couldnt eat it. when I told the waitress she simply said sorry and did nothing to even attempt to make things right. For $39 you should be more than happy with your steak, well I hated it... I wasnt impressed with that night at all...

If you LOVE oysters rockefeller, you must order these here. They have THE BEST French Onion Soup and steaks around for miles! I have ordered the scallops, prime rib, shrimp, and even the 1 lb lobster tail (which by the way, is to die for) , and never have been disappointed! The salads are served on cold plates with beautiful warm rolls. Its a little pricey, but soooooo worth it. By the way, the inside of this restaurant has so much ambiance with the lighting and the just the aura of it all. Go there!

This is our go-to place when we want a great steak. The hubby and I love the Chargrilled Ribeye. We each get a potato, roll, and salad and there is plenty of steak to share. It even comes with mushrooms. My MIL loves the Steak Diane and our son gets the Prime Rib. Wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable and quick. We have been to steak places that are way more expensive than St. Charles Place Steak House and the steak is not nearly as good. Well worth the trip out!

The decor is so outdated that this cant be considered upscale. It does offer good food but it just seem pricey given the overall setting. Steaks, wine and appetizers will keep you coming back but you will also wonder if your great-grandfathers dandruff and shed skin from his visit at opening night still live in the carpet. Not to fear, though, service is still good and the overall experience will make it worth it. Give it a shot.

What a cool place. All four of us in our group could not get over the various features and design of the dinning rooms. We were on sensory overload and loved it. We also all loved our meals and the great service. I went with the house speciality on teh advice of our awesome waitress; Steak Au Poivre; New York Strip encrusted with black pepper finished with a cognac sauce. It was so yummy!
