I love to be there always. I heard about them from one of my friend and we tried their Friday dinner buffet. Wow….The food is delicious and yummy. Whoever wants to taste the authentic south Indian food and this is the place to go. My entire family liked their food and their customer service. I have been their couple time for their lunch buffet, they have significant verities of Veg and Non-Veg food and everything tastes good. Since I had better experience with them, I have ordered catering service for my Son’s Birthday party. They did their job in very professional way and their “Spot Dosa” concept attracts all of my guests who attended the Party. Overall, I could give 5 star rating for this restaurant. Try it and you know the reason why I gave 5 stars rating for them.

Used to b a gud place with good food... But recent catering order was a complete disaster.. Requested to make double quantity of same appetizer they told s but they gave only a single small tray when asked they told its the same quantity... Also for bread item v ordered naan infact he told he wil give extra 5 as compliment but the guy who took the order forgot the bread which was part of the package and gave without bread when v called and asked he was balantly lying that v didnt order any bread... Totally irritated us.. So anybody ordering for catering service please call the guy multiple times and verify the order also check before taking the delivery or they may balantly lie about the order and give u last minute hiccups....

We went for a weekday buffet to the Dakshin. It is predominantly a south indian restaurant with most items made of rice like curd rice, chicken biryani, lemon rice etc. There were also couple of daals but not so good may be because thats not there expertise. The other great item was fish tikka, very delicious. The best thing that I liked was they serve fresh made dosas and bring to your table, just like a north Indian restaurant brings naans. They also had chai, lime water and gulab jamun dish as other items on the buffet. The price is also good, just $7.99.

This is the BEST! No words to describe the taste and service here. I love the fish biryani and chicken 65! There are some Indian restaurants nearby which "claim" to be South Indian, ha ha... But none can match dakshins taste. Best worth for the money. The main positive for this restaurant is that the food is so amazing that it is more return customers than any Indian restaurant here in the Chicago northwest suburbs. Sukumars hospitality makes you feel at home. :-) Authentic South Indian saapadu !!

this place is horrible.. first of all.. it is SO small.. you dont have enought room to even move your chair to get-up/sit-down. even that wouldve been fine had the food been good.. but the food is the worst Indian food Ive ever had.. and Ive been to A LOT of Indian restaurants.. even if you would pay me.. I would NOT go back.. they have a Buffet on Friday nights so you cannot order from the Menu..and they had wierd stuff lined up like.. Braised vegetable..and spinach pakora..? really.. cmon??

I was there a week ago for dinner and the food quality was great. The service was excellent as well. In fact I was able to order some authentic south Indian food which was not in the menu. I was pretty impressed with the hospitality of the restaurant-in-charge (Balaji & Prabakar) who were very knowldgebale and their willingness to bend backwards to take care of the customer needs. I would definitely recommend their Chettinad delicacies and their awesome dosas....

There was a time when the quality of food at Dakshin was outstanding. You could get close to authentic South Indian food. But it looks like they havent invested back the profits into their place and it shows. The restaurant is cramped and make sure you are not seated in the back on the way to the restrooms (and hope to God you dont have to go into one of them). The old furniture, grease on the walls and the awful smell make it a place to avoid. Stay away!!

Authentic, great tasting food. If you are going for the food, this place is it! If you are expecting atmosphere and ambiance, forget it. You are at the wrong place. This is a hole in the wall, well kept secret kinda place that serves fantastic food - period. Agree with the washroom and small space comment. But if you can look past that, the food is simply superb!

My reviews echo with that of Venkat. It used to be good when I had food here in 2005/2006 and earlier but now the quality of food is hopeless. The food does not seem to be freshly prepared and it tastes horrible. I am just surprised with such stiff competition from other Indian restaurants in the area that they are still in business serving such lousy food.

I can vouch for it as i am stickler for authentic Indian spices and food that Dakskhin provides the food that no othe indian food restaurant in Schaumberg can match. Come here only for food- authentic Indian speices and taste. If you are looking for space and decor this place is not it but if you are looking for the right Indian food this is it.

Iam writing this while awating my order. Last evening i was here and today too. I should say south tiffin items are super tasty. The best is its not expensive. Dont know about nonveg items but veg items are very good. My favorite dishes Dosa, pongal, fried mushrooms, fried rice. Superrr tasty south food. Indo chin also equally good.

Dahi Vada was disgusting, seemed like it came out of a can. The Dahi mixture tasted weird, and the vada was extremely hard. Chicken 65 was different but did not have that authentic taste. Chicken Biryiani was average. Nothing special, all in all your money is much better spent a few stores down in Pita and Kabobz.

Heavy MSG User- Stay away Used these guys for an event catering and the food was just blah! a few of us had severe head ache and upset stomach! I suspect some heavy MSG usage. The food had no flavor and character.. NEVER EVER AGAIN! IF YOU ARE ALERGIC TO MSG - STAY WAY FROM THIS PLACE!!

The food is great but the place is way too small. A large Indian family came in and made the place too loud when there were only 3 other families. Hence my point; great south Indian food but small joint. Also the restroom was dirty. Tell the manager/waiter his hat is NICE!

This was my first time getting Indian food. I didnt think it was bad at all, but the goat curry was a little too strong. It was small, but you can tell it is just by walking up to the door. The staff was friendly and attentive.
