Ive visited Schmaltz about 3 times in the past few years; dont live in the area anymore, so I swing by whenever Im around there. Its basically an authentic Jewish deli, the staff are friendly, warm, and greet you at the door. It has an almost NY/East coast crackling energy and buzz when you walk in, and the glass display showcases such treats as smoked salmon, knish, bagels, etc. My absolute favorite sandwich is the #6- Brooklyn Beef. This is tender, juicy beef brisket with horseradish in a delicious fresh bun. This sandwich is really, really good. I cannot emphasize this enough. I came back for this after almost a year hiatus, and it was even better than I remember. Rarely do I experience food that makes me go "whoa" out loud with every bite, but this was one of those. Come here if you love the authentic, down-home Jewish deli experience, and want excellent food with quality service. A great place to have a meal and good conversation with an old friend.

Overpriced. Quality just OK. Service and advice is questionable. We used them to cater a party. We placed an order based on the recommendations of the Schmaltz catering specialist for a party of 100. We ended up with WAY TOO MUCH FOOD. And it cost way more than it should, because there was so much food. Guests took food home, we gave away food. Took a lot home to freeze. We ended up ordering approx 25% too much food. Is this a devious sales method..to increase sales by running up the order? Or is the catering specialist just not qualified...not trained properly? Either way, we feel Schmaltz took advantage of us by not providing the proper recommendations on quantities and used that to pad the order.

Been a regular customer at Schmaltz for years. Have used their catering services for meetings and stop in for coffee/bagels or lunch multiple times/week. Have even recommended Schmaltz to friends and associates who were not aware of them...loved the place. Sadly, have watched both the service and quality decline over time. Not sure if there was a change of ownership or management, but over the past 6 months or so, it has reached disappointing new lows in both service and quality. It saddens me to say that, after today, I am done with Schmaltz for good. Simply cannot justify my loyalty any longer...its just not the same, awesome place it used to be.

I really suck at adding reviews to Google. Im more of a Yelp contributor. I go way back with being a fan for 12 years at Schmaltz. Do yourself a favor and join me tomorrow for the coveted Thanksgiving sandwich now available until Wednesday. I love coming over in the morning when I drop my car off for service to hang out and sometimes having both breakfast and lunch here. Free Wi-Fi, high energy employees and delicious eats are what keeps me coming back. An incredible chef/owner makes sure youll be satisfied. And if youve never tried some Schmacon, you owe it to yourself. Its beefs answer to bacon. You might find it at your local grocery store too.

Looking for a taste of new york in the burbs? Schmaltz is where its at. Self proclaimed as the Jewish Delicatessen for the rest of us they live up to the name. The sandwiches are over stuffed, the homemade bagel chips and pickles are top notch, and you can get a Dr. Browns to wash it all down with. Get a black and white cookie and a knish to round out the meal and you will for sure be overstuffed too. I come here every Friday for breakfast because the bagels are excellent and the lox are perfect. I know various new yorkers say its a sin to toast a bagel but there is nothing better than a perfectly toasted everything bagel.

This place is nowhere near a real Jewish Deli, They dont even make there own cornbeef, then they slice , freeze , and package it 2-3 days ahead of time . When I ask them to slice the overprice product fresh, they refuse.. For the prices they charge, I might as well go to 7 11 and get it half price and at least they slice there product in front of you.. Also, there bread always taste a day old .No wonder there other store went out of business. Dont go here if you want a real Jewish Deli...

Schmaltz Deli makes an Awesome Pastrami Sandwich with Matzo Ball Soup. Sandwiches a big and with great flavor. They have a huge selection of great sandwiches and other deli foods. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very laid back. Its a great place to eat a fantastic meal and not feel rushed. Next time Im there, Im going to try the brisket sandwich. Overstuffed!!! This review is making me hungry.

3.75 stars. Drill an extra hole in that belt buckle and bring your big boy/girl hands to hold these epicly large sandwiches. Youll either leave with leftovers or wish you had an extra stomach. The prices seem a little high but the food is good and your kids can eat free depending on what you order. Try the Schmacon on a bagel sandwich - its not quite bacon but its darn good.

I cant speak for the rest of the menu, but the hot pastrami on marble rye was excellent! (I tell them to give me "with fat". Its juicier) The pickle was outstanding, but make sure you tell them you want a "well done" pickle. They will be a brownish green, and will have a more intense pickle flavor. Get a Dr. Browns Cream Soda out of the cooler to go with. Enjoy!

Sandwiches as big as your head, stuffed with fresh and great-tasting meats. Amazing soups, fresh bagels, lots of side dishes...all around, one of the best deli experiences EVER! Its a Jewish-STYLE deli, not a Kosher deli, and after growing up in the Skokie area, and tasting the fare of some great delis, I can honestly say that this place stands tall with the others!

I really like this kosher delicatessen for its variety of sandwiches, bakery, and atmosphere. The stuffed sandwich option provides a hefty portion of meat on a sandwich, but I usually opt for the half stuffed. A very small complaint is that there arent many healthy food options that I like, but that does not stop me from coming back often.

The prices are a bit high but, the portions are so big that its more than worth the cost. The fresh pastrami is amazing and they add a big kosher pickle and bagel chips for every order. If you want to save a few bucks, order the half-stuffed and youll still be struggling to finish the sandwich.

Bentleys Grill provides delicious food, warm atmosphere, efficient servers, and easy parking in downtown Salem. Try the Northwest seafood chowder, extremely delicious, perfect for lunch. Bentleys is perfect for a date or dinner for the family. My family has been their numerous times.

I feel like I just walked into a New York deli here, fast paced and huge portions! I crave those hot corned beef sandwiches and the smell of the pickle juice is mouth watering! The deli salads and meats are amazing and I never miss an oportunity to pick up a New York Cheesecake!!

Great deli with a lot of options. Its generally more expensive than a typical sandwich spot, but you definitely get your moneys worth. My only qualm is that it costs $2.29 for a smaller than average fountain drink, so I usually opt for a water.
