The management staff is poor not only in training employees but also the way customers are treated. I visited there with my husband and two girls this evening for dinner. We spent $30 and only three of us ordered. I received the incorrect sandwich from what I ordered and paid for.... I went to the counter to see if I possibly grabbed the wrong one. I mentioned it to her and she asked me what ticket number I was. She looked at the ticket and told me "that is what was on the ticket....so sorry." I would have eaten it except for it was covered in a ton of ranch dressing and bacon pieces. Disappointed I returned back to the table with my family and picked off the bacon as I didnt want to pay another $10 for sandwich. My husband said that we should pay for something that you dont even like. He went to the counter again and asked the lady again about the incorrect order. She responded with the same response..."sorry, that is what was on the ticket." He came back to the table and apologized while offering me some of his sandwich. Meanwhile, the "so-called manager" came to our table and abruptly walked up and said that "she would make a new sandwich even though the ticket didnt have that sandwich on it." At that time my family was already half done eating dinner and at this point I was so frustrated with being told that it was not on the ticket I just said "no thats ok we already had been to the counter two times to mention this." She the responded "well, you should have asked for a manager." Then she walked away and yelled to the kitchen to cancel the order loud and clear through the restaurant. At that point, we were so done with this place....we decided to pack up an leave. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone and I will never return. If you do decide to go just hope you get what you ordered. Their management and customer service is of the lowest standards in any restaurant Ive been to in McHenry county.

Ive been to epic deli several times, and have tried a different sandwich on each trip. The food is unlike anything you will find at your local sub place. The combinations are crazy, and the amount of meat the give you completely justifies the near $10 price tag on most of their items. Their sides are just as crazy in combination (see Epic Potato Skins!) and size. Here are the reasons for my 3 star instead of 5: -Flies! There are flies everywhere in this place. The only reason that there would be so many flies is if the place is dirty. That makes me very uneasy about the food that they serve, especially when Im picking up my to-go order, and I see flies landing on someones food at the counter. -Inefficient order and pick up process. If you get a couple people in front of you, prepare to wait far longer than you expect to order or pick up (if carry out). Even though they have several people working, for some reason the cashier needs to go fetch salads or drinks, stopping to chat while doing so. If this only happened once, I wouldnt think much of it, but it has happened nearly each trip. -Employees smoking right outside the front door near the outside seating. There is nothing more disgusting and annoying than someone smoking next to you and your children while trying to eat. I understand that they cannot control that 100% when it comes to patrons, but it is inexcusable for an employee to do this, and tells me that management/owners dont care or are oblivious. Overall, I would recommend trying this place. I hope that owners take notice to the issues, or they will surely loose business.

My bride of 20 years wanted to try Epic out on 12/26. Best of the Fox for a few years (Which folks is a joke. Its another way for the NWH to sell advertising). We arrived around 12:45. Waited in line about 20 minutes to place an order with a young lady without much personality. I let it slide since the place was very busy. But just one order taker? Waited an hour for a corned beef sandwich and cheese and apple sandwich. When folks that were behind us in the order line were being served ahead of us I knew something was up. I kindly asked for a refund from another employee.I own a retail operation and learned long ago barking at someone doesnt get you very far and its not good form. "Let me check on your order" She came out of the kitchen (weve been so slow all week and today were so busy" refunded the bill less the two fountain drinks, wished me a Merry Christmas and returned to putting out fires. She was flustered and overwhelmed. At that point I just wanted out and wasnt in the mindset to argue over 4 bucks. Thanked her and bolted for the door. Epic disaster and never again. As another reviewer mentioned the booth seats are too low and distant from the table and the music could be turned down several notches. Maybe the music was too loud because we were there for an hour and a half.To the owner/s Im sorry for the negative review, but I hope you take this as constructive criticism from a fellow retailer of 29 years. Thank you.

Very average eats at this once epic eatery. On every point there is a demerit; taste, freshness, quality. Delis need to be just the opposite of what I found here. Fresh, top-quality ingredients, carefully prepared with savory scrumptiosness the result - on these points, Epic Deli is a fail. Fried pickles were paper thin slices of pickle in a tough, but tasty, batter. The grub I ordered, which should have been fresh and hot was just barely beyond room temperature, very disappointing for a sandwich that features french fries, gravy, cheese and beef. The cheese was solid, the fries tasted leftover, any gravy had soaked into the bun, and it was missing cheese curds which the menu claimed would adorn the sandwich. Another sandwich, which featured chicken fried steak was under-whelmingly small, not at all hot. Condiments? Little plastic pouches? NOT acceptable. The large dining area in a step-down room was very musty and unappealing, the main dining area is small with few tables and uninviting because it seems like it has not been cleaned recently or even cared for. This once "epic" eatery has let fame escape its grasp.

very overrated, but above average for far north suburbs. the wait is absolutely ridiculous and the staff is ambivalent and rude. waited in a line with 4 people in front of me for 15 minutes. When i got to the register, another girl approached and spent a couple minutes asking the cashier what she wanted from dunking doughnuts. finally, I ordered 1 sandwich, waited for 30 minutes and inquired as to an update to a very rude response, at which point i asked to speak with the manager only to have the exact same response. "Its Saturday", as if thats something that denotes and explains away the attitude and the 45 minute wait time. This place is a joke, go put some cheetos on a ham sandwich at home and call it a day or go to jimmy johns across the street. Their attitude and food wouldnt be tolerated had this little overrated, pompous little hole in the wall been in Chicago. Will not give them another chance, will share my story with others
