Rude Staff Serving Over-Priced Food That Lacks Quality and Flavor... I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones, but I couldnt hold my tongue on this one. My husband and I used to go to Windhill with my parents years ago, and we always loved the experience, and more importantly, the food. Now, with a son of my own, Ive previously been excited to take my him to Windhill to experience the food the way we have in the past, as well as the fun working toy train that brings food to the patrons at the food bar in the back. However, just about every time weve eaten at Windhill these past five years since my son was born, weve had a horrible experience. With every visit, the food has become worse and worse in quality, flavor, temperature and timeliness. And all the while, the prices have gone way up. Im okay with prices going up, as long as the quality of the food is there. But it is not. Im not quick to judge based on one visit, as I know that any restaurant can be having an off day. But Ive given this restaurant several chances to earn my business. What might be worst of all is that the staff (not all, but certainly part) is rude... something I have noticed on more than one occasion these last several visits. On our way out today, a waitress walking behind us rudely told my son and me to keep walking. What she failed to see was that someone else was walking toward us, so we had to stop in order to let that person through. We were being courteous. (Imagine that... a five-year-old being more courteous than the adult waitress in the room.) Its not our fault that this place is so crowded that stopping to be courteous causes the traffic of the wait staff to come to a halt for a couple of seconds... literally, only a couple of seconds. I did not appreciate her condescending "marching orders" at all, so I promptly turned around to let her know we WERE walking... which she should have noticed on her own. After getting a bill for $27 for a small, cold, not very flavorful breakfast for a five-year-old and myself, her rude behavior was all it took to solidify a decision Id been contemplating for a few years... to never give this restaurant my business again. I hate to come to this decision, given my good memories of this place over the years, and I wanted to give Windhill more chances. But thereve been far too many consecutive negative, money-wasting visits for me to continue visiting. I had no qualms letting the manager, who was at the register taking money, that our visit today would be our last. Before I even uttered my dissatisfaction with our visit, he seemed rude... or unfriendly at best. He didnt welcome me to the counter with a smile or a hello or a "how was everything today?" He just took the bill and said, "Cash?" I said, "Yes. Are you the manager?" He said, "Yes," and then I told him that would be our last visit. He said, "Can I ask why?" When I told him (basically what I wrote above), he hardly seemed disappointed to be letting a customer go, and never once gave me eye contact. He did not utter anything that would try to make it right, and seemed put out that I would even voice my negative experience. I was shocked. Perhaps even the employees/management feel the way that customers do... that this place is over-crowded (barely any room to walk, and very crammed seating) and in need of a few less customers... and thus, was all too complacent to lose a customer over keeping that customers business. No worries... his rude, complacent behavior only confirmed that my decision to not return is the right decision, which is too bad, because had he tried even a little to let me know my business if valuable, I might have made a different decision. Its sad to see the charm of a once-great place with quality meals dissolve to nothing more than a crummy restaurant where you feel youve wasted your hard-earned money. (That said, we had a great waitress today, and I hope shell go somewhere else that better serves her hard-working attitude and friendliness.)

Wont walk into this restaurant again. I feel like the set up in there is a fire hazard, theres one path to the door and theres always people walking that path to get to and from their table or even to the restroom. Having a packed restaurant obviously means its going to be loud, and when the waitress was taking our orders she was getting mad that she couldnt hear us, but she was standing on the opposite side of the table! Come on, if you cant hear, come closer to the persons order your taking instead of being rude and rolling your eyes about not being able to hear the orders. Also, one person forgot to say something they wanted to add to their order, so two other people ordered their food and then the person that forgot to order their toast asked her if they could add it and she grunted and made a huge deal about it, just because he wanted to add toast! Once our orders finally came, I dont think a single one of them wasnt messed up in some sort of way. We did have a table of 9, so Im sure thats not easy, but her attitude was ridiculous. Also, with the kids meals, it comes with a TINY cup...and after that you have to pay for each additional one. Generally with a kid they get their cup and gulp it down before the waitress even walks away, and I just felt that the size of the cup was ridiculous to only have one come with the order.

We have eaten there a few times. Food was great as always, and Christmas time is a great time to go as they go all out on the decorations producing a wonderful family atmosphere. They lost a star however, due to the horrible treatment we received from our rude waitress. She was not friendly at all, acted inconvenienced when I had questions about an entree, and did not refill drinks even after we asked. The worst part though, was when she brought the bill. Each of our 3 families asked for the entire bill, as usual with our family. The waitress said "Im not dealing with this, so let me know when you decide."! My father had to stop her from walking away to get the bill from her! We will likely go back, but if we see that waitress next time we will ask for someone else.

The Windmill Pancake parlor is the place to be this summer to enjoy with friends and family. I even hear they got magician guy named Joe Plumber who is doing this optical illusion trick with the Old Mill Coin place across the street. yeah so what Joe had his audience do is to stare at this Abe Lincoln mirage posted on the windows of Old World Coin for 31 seconds and then turn around 180 degrees to face The Windhill Pancake Parlor. Then what happened next is that a sacred apparition of Abe would appear on only in the clouds above but on the guests pancakes as well. This may explain the recent trend of restaurant patrons who have been leaving rather large tips in pennies for their gorgeous waitresses.

Great breakfast spot, with a wonderful and well priced menu for breakfast foods, a train in the back and deliver your plates to kids, and the decor of the place is over the top, they go all out no matter the season of holiday to make sure youre in the spirit. I thought the addition of video gaming might tarnish the charm of this place but they made a major effort to tuck it away in a non intrusive area to the rest of the dining room. (windhill does have a limited liquor license so you can enjoy a bloody mary or mimosa with your breakfast if youre so inclined) there is a discount off your bill if you pay cash, but they do accept credit card. If youre in the area definitely give this place a try.
