We stopped in for a late lunch. The place smells like an old musty basement. There was no aromas of any food cooking at all and that was a big turn off. The waitress said the we could look at the dinner menu also. There wasnt much to choose from on the lunch menu, so we looked at the dinner menu and everything was priced ridiculously high. I think the lowest price I saw was $19.99. We ordered from the lunch menu so we could keep the check more affordable. I ordered the chopped salad and the menu read that there is olives in the salad. There were no olives at all. The italian vinaigrette dressing was nothing more than vinegar and oil with seasoning sprinkled on the top of the salad. The cheeses tasted and smelled like feet. The waitress was amazing and very sweet. I noticed that there werent a lot of people there. I will never go back there again. To many other places that are way better.

My family has eaten here a couple of times over the last eight months but we will not be going back after or last visit. I took my family and two friends out for Sunday lunch to Buca di Beppo in Lombard to celebrate my Birthday. I had three discounts they had sent ( 1. Dollar amount off. 2. Discounted small cake for B-day. 3. National ice cream celebration sundae ). I asked our waitress which one I should use or would they let me use all three? She returned to to us stating that the manager said I could use all three for our group there that afternoon. Sadly in the end while paying she came back and said her manager now says only one discount will be accepted. Even though I had asked before we ordered ...I decided not to push it and finished up but on the way out the door the manager made a crack loud enough for me to hear that embarrassed our waitress.

I was very disappointed in this restaurant. First of all, the staff was very rude, our waiter in particular was very obnoxious and condescending. He acted completely put out to have to explain to us the unusual menu style and every time he was in the room he was so loudly cracking stupid jokes and making sarcastic remarks to his guests no one could even hear themselves think, let alone have a conversation! Of course it didn't help that we were packed in like sardines. Which brings me to my next point, the atmosphere. They have the restaurant divided into several tiny rooms, each of which has pictures and chochkey little things covering literally every inch of wall space and very low ceilings. We all agreed that it was claustrophobic and uncomfortable. Finally, the food was just so-so, I would say on par with Olive Garden. Overall Bucca Di Beppo = FAIL.

Never again. They had at least 50 people crammed into a room that should hold maybe 30-35. The wait staff had to squeeze around chairs & couldnt help but bump patrons. The noise level in that room was something akin to a hockey game. The food was fair at best, in fact I had a stomach ache for several hours afterward. But I was impressed by our darling server who was really trying to give us a good experience despite the over-crowding. When I see an overpacked room like that, all I can think is PURE GREED. The safety & comfort of the patrons & staff clearly isnt a priority. Small crowded rooms with low ceilings and you walk through the kitchen to get seated..........ugh. No visible implements to reduce sound level like you see in some places. We were a very unhappy group within a few minutes of being seated, should have left right away!

Ive been to other Buca di Beppo locations before, and the service has always been pretty mediocre... but I went to the Lombard location last night, and the service was horrible. I walked in, and was told the wait would be about 40 minutes. But it ended up being an hour and 45 minutes until I was finally sat. Everyone around us was experiencing the same thing, and was getting very irritated. We complained about the service to the waiter, and requested that he inform the manager. But Im assuming he never told anyone, because we never saw a manager, and he didnt seem to care that we had just been standing around for almost two hours waiting for pretty pricey food. Overall, I was disappointed.

Went here with my brothers families, my family and my mom. Portion sizes are family style so its a pass around and scope on your plate deal. Food is good, nothing to shout loudly about but also nothing to really complain about. The restaurant is clean and the service is good, good people working there. Though I found the room we were in cramped and stifling. Could be theyre trying to create that family atmosphere, I just felt boxed in. But I would go back for sure, and I recommend eating here if you have more than 5 people in your party.

Ive been coming here for many years and I went last night for the first time in 6 years and I was quite disappointed.. The food was great but the service was less than mediocre. Our server, Tony, was not warm and welcoming, he had no interest in being there or serving us. He was extremely rude to other employees in front of us which was really appalling. The rest of the servers in general were very kind and helpful just hope you dont get Tony, especially if it is your first time because you will be more than displeased.

3/10 service 6/10 food/Discriminatory atmosphere. ....Went there for my birthday we ordered the linguini de mare it was cold and mediocre at best. We should of tipped the host and other staff members who did the waitresses job of refilling drinks and bringing the pasta... Even though the waitress was attentive to the table behind us and went as far as to put on their coats and make conversation with them.Definitely wont bring my family back there again.

Some of the best dishes of ANY Italian restaurants, puts Olive garden to shame. Hard to believe its a chain. Not crazy about pricing food for 2 or 4 though. Took our 2 grandkids and spent $150. Lots of leftovers unless everyone wants the same dishes. I dont mind paying good bucks for great food though. portions are huge but everything is for 2 or 4 people. so if everyone wants a different dish , bring a savings account number.

Dined at Buca to explore a restaurant that advertises in local newspapers and through the mail. The interior of the restaurant is very old school. I was concerned when we walked through the kitchen to get to our table. I did not know it only served family style meals. We ordered the calamari and spaghetti and meatballs. The calamari was greasy and the tomato sauce was acidy or had a canned taste.

Food is great and the environment is very family friendly. It may be too loud for smaller groups or those that want a more intimate ambiance, but Buca is meant to be a family style eatery. Their large plates serve about four people. The prosciutto stuff chicken was fantastic as was the ice cream sundae. Buca is better for festive occasions, but the food at Maggionos is probably a notch above.
