Usually order soup to go and everytime the lady at the front is welcoming, quick and usually doing ten things at once. How she manages everything so well is a testament to her work ethic. Usually packed at dinner time as this is the only sit down restaurant in the area. Rosatis just expanded to an eat in restaurant but these two are basically it for this area. As such, prices are on the higher end. Tonight we ate in and it was a good experience. Chicken pot pie was good but at $13.95 it should be outstanding like at Claim Jumpers in South Barrington! Split pea soup was tasty. Fried chicken wasnt anything special but was better than others. Waitress was attentive and refilled water as often as needed. Homemade bread loaf was great. Definitely give Red Ox a try when in the area. Would be nice if they opened for lunch or offered a salad bar.

Ate there on Sunday night when they had a table of at least 25 senior citizens. Our server, JoJo served our main entree after serving customers who came in after us. After an hour we got our dinners. My wife had ribs and shrimp with baked potato (which she never got and no apology from the server) The ribs were tough and not very flavorful, but the fried shrimp was good. I had the London Broil. The meat was cooked ok but was very bland. All in all a bad experience and if we ever go back it will be a long time before doing so.

Great Place! I have lived in Hampshire for 20 years and if there had to be just one restaurant nearby (which there basically is), the Red Ox is such a great choice! Food is great - especially love the pizza, fish fry and cream soups. The burgers and fries are very tasty as well! They have an outdoor patio for the warmer months. The bar is cozy and laid out just right. The beer is cold and the wait staff is attentive. The place is well maintained and clean. I really like the Ox. Super place to try and enjoy!

Went tonight to Red Ox and Service was Terrible and Slow AGAIN! 2 Hours total since we first got there. Steak was finished before French fries were even brought out. Broccoli was hard as rock. Waitress very slow. No refills no "Hows your meal" Waits 20 mins to give us check. Doesnt even ask if u want dessert. Very very slow service 2 times in a row!! Would not recommend this place!

Food is decent. Most of the staff and waitresses are very good and very friendly. It is a little dark and the lights do continually dim and get brighter which does make it extremely annoying. Prices are a bit high for my taste, but not horrible compared to other sit down places. For the area its about all you get and I dont think its too bad.

Red Ox is a great place to meet family for dinner. The food is consistent, the pizza yummy. They have nice specials including 1/2 price pizza Thursdays. The chicken and spaghetti dishes are special and my family always goes for them. Im vegetarian so I enjoy the salads and the meat free nachos.

I would give less stars but then I wouldnt get to place a review. This place condones disrespect and insults and racism. They condone patrons who use racial-hate filled words towards innocent people without even batting a lash!!!! Never step foot in this terrible establishment !
