By far, the best BBQ I have ever had. My work crew and I wound up going here two nights in a row because the food was that good. First night, simply looking for something open after a long day of work, and a valet suggested Southern Cut. Stopping in, the trophies and awards caught our attention, and then once we were sat down at our table, the staff and food made this place an instant favorite. Housemade sauces. Yes, in house, delicious BBQ sauces. Thats always a good sign for a BBQ place. Loaded nachos that are actually loaded, rib, pulled pork and macaroni n cheese sandwich,... salivating just thinking of it all. At the end of our first trip there, a friend and I had to compliment the chef, and thank him for pleasantly filling us. My friend Eric used the word trancendent when describing his eating experience. The next day we came back with a party of 9 and had an even better experience. The chef came by to welcome us back, while the maitre d and waiter kept us happy in drink and food. We also kept telling everyone we worked with to go here, and know of a few groups who were happy they had made the trip. Well definitely be back the next time we are in Chicago. Do yourself a favor and go here. Youll be hapoy you did. Pro tip: Get the mac and cheese on the side and then add it to any sandwich or whatnot if you are interested in that combo. Not sure why, but the mac and cheese had a richer taste that way.

On our visit, which included a couple of small, rambunctious children, the staff went well out of their way to take care of us. They took us in, sat us down, and immediately supplied the girls with crayons, pictures to color, plastic cups for water instead of glasses, and a small complimentary snack plate with apple slices, carrot sticks and ranch dressing. We were visited by multiple people, not just our server, to make sure everything was going well. The decor was simple and straightforward. Nothing particularly unique about it, just sort of a standard, cookie cutter "nice restaurant" feel. The food was fantastic, though. I had a special sandwich for the 4th of July, a pulled pork with potato salad and corn. It was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Id also recommend the jalapeno cornbread; not spicy at all, the peppers just give it a bit of extra flavor that is complemented by the maple pecan butter they serve with it. Other members of our party had ribs, which they said were fall off the bone great, meatloaf, and a taco special. The restaurant was also happy to serve our little picky eaters plain, buttered pasta. Everyone came away happy. I strongly recommend it for some simple but delicious American comfort food.

DONT ORDER THE CHICKEN POT PIE!!! When it first arrives it looks amazing and the pastry part is delicious, but it is the most WATERY pot pie Ive ever seen. Even after letting it sit awhile, it didnt thicken up. It also should of had WAY more substance (chicken and vegetables), but it mostly seemed to consist of chicken water. I never thought anyone could mess up a pot pie, but they succeeded, especially given that it costs $18! I asked our server about it, who said "that is how our pot pies are." Yes, it may seem odd to order this dish from a BBQ place, but I was in the mood for pot pie. The beet salad was delicious and I would definitely order it again. Even my hubby (a "meat and potatoes guy") really liked it. The baked beans seemed more meat/sauce than beans, which I liked bc Im not a huge fan of beans. The macaroni and cheese was a little dry but not bad. Ambiance and service: No wait for indoor or outdoor seating. A bit noisy (which I dont mind) so good for noisy toddlers, until later in the evening when it can get kind of dark. Attentive with refills. Unfortunately, given the competition in Chicago, well definitely be going elsewhere. I needed a sandwich after my watery entree.

I found this restaurant on the Opentable website. I made reservations for my husbands 30th birthday. On the day of the reservation, the restaurant called to check if we were still coming and I let them know it was my hubs 30th and to bring him dessert at the end of dinner. As soon as we walked in the door 3 staff members greeting him with "happy birthday!" The portions are really big so you dont need to order too much. But we ordered the cornbread as an appetizer, the skirt steak with a side of spinach, and dr. pepper baby back ribs. Everything we had was amazing. After that, they brought out his dessert which they gave us on the house because it was his birthday. Cookies, Chocolate Mousse, and Oreo Mint Ice Cream. Even the store manager came to the table and said happy birthday personally. We love our experience, the service, and the ambience. Definitely will be going again pretty soon!

Wow. Just wow. I normally dont write reviews for restaurants but I had to for this one. What a beautiful place that offers a nice ambiance. Our server (I wish I could remember his name but I remember he was a tall, bald gentleman with a soothing voice) was wonderful. He was so nice in offering his opinion (without being sales-y) and always checked on us whenever he could. The food came out swiftly (we got the ribs, and two meat platter (chicken and pork) and it was simply amazing. Ive never had a better pulled pork before in my life, and now, I know nothing will compare. The price range was fair (including adult beverages) and I do not regret one penny spent there. This place is the real deal and when I travel back, I will make sure this is one of the restaurants I go to. This place is worth it and worth all the hype I am giving it.

We drove 11 hours to get to Chicago today. We were really tired from our trip & wanted to grab some good food before bed. Unfortunately, they were about to close, so we thought wed have to find somewhere else-but they were more than accommodating for us! The Asst. General Manager, Chris, waited on us & was wonderful! He got our food to go for us & was so nice & polite. He took the time to ask our names, go over the menu with us & was thanking my husband over & over for his service (active duty military). If everyone in the hospitality industry treated their customers like Chris did, I guarantee the world would be a better place!! Not to mention, the food was OUTSTANDING!!! We got a full rack of ribs, green beans, mac n cheese, & cornbread. Thank you, we will be back!!!

I have never had better BBQ. The smells from this place drew my family in for dinner last week and we were amazed. Our server David was immensely helpful and gave us some great suggestions, we pretty much ordered every single type of meat they smoke in house. He even gave our kids a quick tour of the kitchen/smoker area. The owner/chef Lee Ann even came to our table and chatted us up a bit. We saw all of her awards and we talked Beat Bobby Flay/Chopped also. She was great and we thought it was incredible that she came and introduced herself. I asked her to open up a BBQ restaurant in the Minneapolis area! Anyways, great food, great service, great people and the pricing was really good for the downtown Chicago area also in my opinion. Cannot wait to go back.
