Ladies, do you like your stale bread with a side of sexism? If so, this is the place for you! When I first moved to this neighborhood in 2013, I visited this store a few times. It wasnt so much the expired nature of the food which caused me to never return, it was the owners blatant attempts at hitting on me. Well, last night, this creep spent the better part of the night staring at me while I was sitting at the bar. When I refused his offer to buy me a drink, he appeared to get agitated. I had to move seats because he kept trying to rub against me. he continued to stare at me, and when I finally asked him why he was doing that, he said "Because I like you." I told him I was not interested (again) and asked him to please stop staring. His response was "This is a free country I can stare at you if I want" Well, you are right about one thing-this is a free country, and as such Im free to write this review on your place of business so that other women know what kind of person you are before they give you one cent. In this free country, women can go wherever they want, and none of us are obligated to accept sexual advances from anyone, especially men old enough to be their father. As a business owner in a very, very small neighborhood with a very progressive leaning, you should learn to behave yourself in public.

Well I really doubt any of the people who gave this place a one star review have actually been here since it seems like a smear campaign against the owner has been waged because somebody supposedly wore a disrespectful shirt. Well I have never seen that and never been treated with disrespect when coming here. That isnt what this review is about. Its about their sandwiches, which are delicious and ridiculously affordable. If you grew up in Chicago like me you may have acquired a taste for Italian style sub sandwiches from Italian grocery store and Delis. This place is not the best or the cheapest but it is a solidly consistent place and your best bet when you are far north and near the lake like I am. I have had il Milano, Amys favorite, dolce do Parma, the chicken Parmesan sandwich and their Italian beef. Each one is well worth the price and way better than anything youd get at jimmy Johns. I have also had several of their soups each one was delicious. This is a good place to grab a lunch to bring home. There are no tables, no servers, no condiment bar- its a deli and grocery.

It caught my eye as I biked past one day, then I checked reviews and confirmed that it was what it looked like, a legit Italian local sandwich place, so I stopped in on another trip past. They make everything fresh, so it takes some time, maybe 10 minutes for a hot sammich, but its worth it. The sandwiches are huge, easily enough for two meals, and they are very reasonably priced, like the big sandwich places in Little Italy in New York. There are several interesting options, even for people who arent that into deli meats. The meatball sub was very good. They do sandwiches, panini, and I think they had wraps, too. It also sells a bunch of Italian cooking ingredients, imported and not, and they cram quite a bit into the small store. One could easily shop for a full meal there. Theres a little area outside where one can eat, when the weather allows.

RACIST AGAINST JEWISH PEOPLE. Do not go here. I have never written a review before, but I could not sit idly by. When I asked which sandwich he recommended, he asked me which sibling I liked best. When I joked my brother, he said, and I quote, "Youre a F***ing liar, or youre Jewish". This is verbatim what he said, I could not make something like this up. I have never been so offended in my life. He was a bald man, probably near 40 years old. I walked out, and have not stopped thinking about what I would have liked to say to him. Maybe the sandwiches are good, but I wouldnt know, because I dont like to support Nazis. I would give this place negative stars if that were an option. Please take into consideration the fact that supporting this place would be supporting someone that clearly hates Jewish people.

I went for a great sandwich on the recommendation of a friend. I asked them not to put lettuce on my sandwich 3 times- they put lettuce on the sandwich. They were making 4 sandwiches so i was not sure if mine was being made at that moment or not. So when they handed me a sandwich i knew it had lettuce on it and said- "i asked for no lettuce" He responded- you could have told me. I said i did- and rather than wait while we was being very rude i said never mind and walked out. He then knocked on the window and gave me the finger. So maybe the food is great- didnt seem like better than average quality- but maybe- i didnt get to taste the food. The services is incompetent, but they did take the extra step to be rude and for that i am writing this review.

Mane and Michael: fuggetaboutit, the racist stuff, which isnt true anyway. I buy my sweet potato pies from black Muslims on the south side who by doctrine believe I am the devil. Still good pies!! This guy here wore a pro-police T-shirt. Being for the police or being one does not make you a racist; a lot of people can breathe freely because of police response, in all neighborhoods here. There seems to be one of those liberal lemming campaigns going on here against the store. Make your decision based on your own experience, not the crowd-sourced reviews below...and let me reassure you my radical credentials are as secure as yours, idiots!

Was extremely disappointed with these folks today. Ive ordered from here several times and even had food catered for my companys last party and the customer service was always up to par... that is until today. I simply proceeded to place my order and whoever picked up the phone was very rude. I asked to have the order delivered and the employee was extremely rude stating that he had another customer waiting... as if im not a patron as well. Ive heard and seen the nasty reviews before but never encountered it until today... looks like you may have lost a loyal customer today.

An excellent sandwich shop. I get the Napolitano here regularly and sometimes Ill pick up a few other grocery items while Im there. Their deli meats and cheeses are good quality and reasonable prices. Their Italian prepared foods from the fridge (soups, lasagna, etc) are also good quality. Also some of the best cannoli Ive had in Chicago. They also have grocery items like eggs and milk. Its usually a little cheaper to get those other things at a full grocery store, but for a convenient corner grocer theyre pretty reasonable.

Piatto Pronto, is a wonderful deli, these guys are always nice, they have a great selection of fresh items, and imported goods that I have not seen anywhere else. They have hot and cold sandwiches, and great soups made in house, not forgetting the best meatballs I have ever tasted, (I have had a lot of meatballs) I visit this deli often and would recommend this to anyone who wants not only great food, but a great experience getting it.
