This boutique grocer and deli can often appear closed when passing by on the bus...but I found that not to be the case when walking by recently (or now that it gets dark outside so early!) Inside the small space, one can find everything needed to prepare a last-minute authentic Italian meal, including a limited selection of fresh produce, multiple brands of imported canned tomatoes, and about seven different varieties of imported tuna in olive oil (including tuna belly)! There is a small seating area for anyone looking to enjoy a quick salad/sandwich, or dessert and espresso on the spot. I appreciate that it also has a small selection of other household staples, including dried beans, grains, and even popcorn sold by weight--very uncommon for such a limited space. An easy stop on the way home from work, or way to shop without leaving the neighborhood to visit a larger, chain grocer on the weekend.

I have to admit that when this place opened a couple years ago I never thought it would last. Thankfully, Half Italian has proved me wrong and now theyre almost old-guard on that strip of Milwaukee Avenue. The sandwiches are delish, great charcuterie for LS, and its also a great place to pick up a few missing items on your way home from the train. Its quite pricey, so I wouldnt recommend shopping here all the time, but a tomato or two and some cheese cant hurt you. Also a great place to find all of those pricey jams, oils and other specialty pantry items. Imagine theyre of like the Dill Pickles Half Italian cousin.

Definitely my favorite sandwich place for sure. The bacon and egg with avocado is to die for, and is my usual order. Ive told a lot of my friends about this place, and we eat there often. The only thing that I had an issue with is how the bread in the sandwiches keeps getting harder and harder every time I go there. I met the owner once, I think, when she had just gotten back from a trip to Atlanta. We chatted a bit as I checked out, and something she said stuck with me. She said the food in Atlanta was great - but it was missing something. Love. Half Italian definitely has love.

Very nice italian deli. Fresh meats, breads and italian staples you can take home and cook yourself. The prosciutto sandwich is great , as are all of the sandwiches. I love the fact that you can eat there, sandwiches taste better to me when they are not carried around, but eaten as soon as they are fixed. It is conveniently located on Milwaukee near the Chase bank and the CTA blue line station. You can get off the train, grab some pasta or a sandwich and walk home.

A creative menu, fair pricing, large store selection, and friendly staff are just a few of the many positives about Half Italian. The food is always fresh and delicious, and staff members prepare everything quickly. I particularly appreciate the efforts of Simon, Austin, Brie, and Ashley, and I hope they keep up the good work. Im happy to say that Half Italian is my go-to sandwich shop in Logan Square and I always look forward to trying something new off the menu.

It was 7:10pm and they were shutting the doors. Without even asking how long I would be, the brunette, British woman behind the counter told me the deli was closed but shed be happy to let me grab some groceries, which was exactly what I needed! Customer service was EXCELLENT. Cant wait to go back and check out more of their selection.

Half Italian has a great deli with made-to-order sandwiches and tasty side dishes. I wish there was more of a selection of salads but they are happy to custom make a salad. There isnt much seating but its a good grab and go lunch spot.

They have a little bit of everything - yes they do sandwiches, but they also have produce, for zen meat, Eggs, ice cream, wine and beer and assorted imported groceries. Great to have in the neighborhood.

Sandwiches are a little overpriced for what they are. They used old and stiff bread; the content was scarce. At least good flavor, good smoothie and lovely cashier!
