I used to live in Skokie and would visit this place all the time (since they were up the street at their old location more than 15 years ago). They have fresh fruit and veggies at low prices all year and a large assortment of international foods. I do buy lots of produce when Im here, but I come here for the meat and deli department. Since I moved to Highland Park I realized how expensive food can be from one town to the next. In Highland Park a pound of cream cheese with lox runs $13-$15 easily. Here at Oakton Fruit Market, the price is $4.99 lb and so much better in taste. They also sell small pork sausages at a steal of a price. Those have been a staple in my house forever and are the best tasting. I almost dont want to mention it in my review just so they dont run out of stock when I get there lol. I know there were a few poor reviews about customer service or a lack of organic selections, but customer service is great and this is not a large full scale grocery store so if youre looking for a bunch of organic farm raised blah blah blah then go to Whole Foods.

Good store! I Love this store! the best day to shop here is on Friday and Saturday. I like this store a lot ! Helen, the cashier with blond hair was very nice, friendly and professional. She is a very good cashier. The young hispanic guy who works in the meat department is very nice too. He helped me to find a ground Lamb and burgers. He was very nice, polite and fast. Good job! All employees in this store are very nice and friendly. They are always ready to help you. Great customer service! Market Place on Oakton in Skokie IL has the best prices on everything. Produse here is always fresh! And cheap!!!! A lot of good dairy products.Today I bought the sheep yogurt from the real sheep milk and I bought the organic yogurt from Bulgaria. very fresh and tasty. I also bought organic honey for $5. Not bad! Not to mention the large selection of cheeses. This store has the russian caviar and polish candy"Korovka" (my favorite). I Love to shop here! This is my favorite store! I definitely recommend this store to other shoppers. This is a very good store!!!

I just shopped on Saturday and purchased about $15.00 dollars worth of chicken wings, when I opened them on Sunday they were spoiled I took them back right away, the owner was called to the front as soon as I explained the reason for the return he made me feel uncomfortable for returning the meat and acted like it was my fault, leaving me stand for 5 minutes at the front of the store while he went back to the meat department, on his return he said they would not refund my money and would only give me a store credit that is their policy... this is the second time I have purchased spoiled chicken and I was treated the very same way the first time, I guess I should have not returned to shop again. I just expected better treatment from the owner, I know he does not need my business...he let it show. I have been a regular shopper there for 15 years I do not understand why it so hard to return the obvious, why was it so hard for him to own it?

I stopped in ten minutes before the store closed and when I asked for the smoked turkey, some rude little thug behind the deli counter said, "I just finished wiping down the meat slicing machine. Were closed." I looked at my watch and said, "Youre open for another ten minutes." He shrugged his shoulders and said, "Sorry, lady, guess youre out of luck. Im outta here." I was shocked and appalled. Thankfully the other deli person, a polite young woman, said, "Ill help her." The thug said, "Then youre cleanin the machine!" and he sauntered off. That behavior is absolutely unacceptable. I will never shop at The Marketplace in Skokie ever again. For that type of market, Id rather go to Lincolnwood Produce. They have a great selection, the place is cleaner, and theyre always polite to the customers.

Been a customer since they opened. Pretty much everything is good here, at better prices than the chain markets. A lot of Greek and assorted Asian / South Asian / Mexican items, good meat counter (best ground round Ive found anywhere), good seafood, great deli counter, excellent produce. I moved from a mile away to 25 minutes away in Andersonville, and I still shop there once a month. I always say that at MarketPlace you can get a months worth of groceries for 200-some bucks and eat like a king, and like 16 years on thats still true. Plus the Greek pop they play is fun, a change from the usual adult contemporary or Muzak in most places.

Good store ! I just love shopping here! Very friendly employees and large selectons of foods from all over the world. Excellent grocery store! Very fresh produce! Dairy and meat department are very good. They sell organic goods. The best time to shope here is on Friday and Saturday. If you want to get the best price on ground lam then com in the morning. Meat here is always fresh. All the foods in this store is fresh and good. I Love this store!

Ive been going to the market place for years. I went monday in purchased some smoke turkey wings to my surprise when I got home. Ready to cook the smoke turkey wing, the side that wasnt showing was MILDEW BLUE SPOTS. So at this point I opened all other meats that I purchased to make sure it wasnt MILDEW.

This is a fantastic grocery store. There is a huge selection of affordable fresh fruit and vegetables. There is a wonderful deli with high quality options. The aisles are stocked with both American and foreign food options. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This is my favorite grocery store!

Considering the limitations of space, this place is amazing. Sort of a "Whole Foods without the pretensions". The food tends not to be organic (though sometimes), but it is fresh. The ethnic options on offer are surprising and inspiring.
