Samosas, tandoori chicken, naan - ohh my!! Ever since I moved into the city, Ive had an insatiable craving for Indian food. Mughal India really hit the spot! One of the main reasons my friend and I decided on this place was because it was closer to us, but I have to say that I had my doubts because it wasnt located on Devon where many of the other Indian restaurants are, but I was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is located on Van Buren so it is definitely accessible by bus and blue line. There is also a parking lot right next to the restaurant for 2 hours for $6 or street parking. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but the interior is nice. There are a mixture of tables, booths and the buffet is located on the right side of the restaurant against the wall. We went with the lunch buffet, which was $11.95 and what I recommend to get a sampling of everything. For the price you pay, its super cheap compared to many of the other Indian restaurants in Chicago and the quality of the food is amazing. Everything on the buffet was piping hot each time that I went to get another helping of food. Additionally, I always saw the staff switching out the dishes with fresh batches, which is always a plus - definitely not one of those buffet restaurants where the food has been sitting out for days. I hear that the food on the buffet rotates on a daily basis, but on the day that we came, there was: 1) samosas (deep fried pastries with potato and pea filling - really good!) 2) masala papadum (spiced Indian cracker) 3) dal makhani (black lentils) 4) sag paneer (cubes of cheese in spinach sauce) 5) baingan bharta (eggplant curry - one of my favs on the buffet!) 6) bhindi masala (okra in tomato sauce) 7) goat curry (had bones, but was worth it - tender and delicious) 8) chicken jalfrazi (chicken in a tomato/bell pepper sauce - best meat dish!) 9) tandoori chicken (tender and succulent!) 10) basmati rice (really fresh) 11) chicken dum biryani (basmati rice with chicken) 12) naan (hot and fresh - great for sopping up sauces) 13) ice cream (pistachio - had the consistency of shaved ice) 14) kheer (rice pudding) 15) gulab jamun (balls of milk dough that are soaked in a honey sauce) Besides these dishes located in large chaffing dishes, there is also a cold salad bar that includes items, such as mint, tamarind and mango chutney for the samosas and naan, fruits (oranges, watermelon, honey dew), raita (yogurt) and etc... Overall, Mughal had a great offering of delicious items on the buffet. This is definitely my new go-to place for Indian buffet! The service is great as well. The staff is very attentive with refilling drinks and clearing plates off the table, even when my dining buddy and I stayed for nearly 2 hours! We...lost track of time in the midst of our gluttony, lol. Additionally, they were very friendly in terms of making conversation as opposed to other restaurants Ive been to. I highly recommend trying Mughal India out!! On your marks...get set...GO!

I dont usually review my food but this is by far the worst and hence deserves to be pointed out. This is the most ketchup I have ate at once. Being an Indian I understand its not easy to compare food here to the food back home but this is just terrible. I had to throw away half the food which cost me $52. Eventually settled down for Ramen Noodles for dinner. The butter chicken somehow had a fake red color and a strong taste of ketchup. The paneer jalfrezi had dry and old paneer with same bad gravy as butter chicken. It seemed like they used the same gravy for both. Now lets talk about the Samosa. The moment I saw the mix inside, I was already disappointed and after eating it I was just disgusted. WORST FOOD EVER! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! CLOSE THIS BLOODY PLACE! 0 STARS!

Been here for two times so far and tried weekday buffet lunches. Being vegetarian, the choices are very limited and it appears non-vegetarians have many options in the buffet. Restaurant name itself suggests that this place is for non-vegetarians (Mughal cuisine is very well known for meat dishes), hoping options with vegetarian delicacies is my bad. Coming to ambiance, it is average or below average, nothing fancy. Vegetarian food quality is average and taste is average too. Nothing amazes the palate, but at the same time nothing disappoints the palate. Service is run the mill, dont expect much service as it is a buffet. It is a quick eatery for getting in and out on a working day! Enjoy!

I went there to have dinner with my friends. There was not an assigned waiter for us, all of the waiters were serving us which was kind of weird. They seemed very rude; they wouldnt smile back at us. I was especially disappointed with the hospitality. The waiters just put all the orders on the table and left. We had to call them and ask which order was whos. Also, they were in a hurry to take the plates away although we hadnt finished eating our food. The food was okay-ish. The rice we ordered was smelling like jute sac. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We ordered through Grub Hub and it was a Delivery for my Friends Bday. This is the most disastrous food weve ever eaten in US. We ordered Chicken Tikka, Chicken Tandoori (full) and chicken 65 from the appetizers section and all the three were tasteless and they barely tasted like chicken. Chicken Tikka Masala curry is average [Told them to make it spicy, instead it was sweet]. Butter Naan was good. We ordered for 2 Chicken Dum Biriyani, 2 Lamb Dumb Biriyani and a Goat Biriyani, it was horrible, we literally vomited and dumped all the food.

This is a smaller but decent Indian buffet that rotates different dishes each day. I always enjoy it, especially on days when its made spicy. The reason for the 3-star rating is simply because the price for the all-you-can-eat buffet keeps increasing in price and its nearly no longer worth it. Ive also ordered this for delivery and its pretty pricy for not a large amount of food. Best to visit around lunch (its a small place so go maybe around 11:50am) when youre really hungry so you can eat a few plates.

Bad customer service. And average food. The waiter didnt even know what the curry we were ordering. Couldnt make a comment on it. When the Food came and we said it was bad, he suggested another one and the owner had the temerity to suggest that since the curry was not what we expected we have it as dessert as it was sweet. Seriously? Finally charged us for everything despite the fact that it was the waiter who brought in the other curry on his behest. Finally, it is overpriced for what it serves.

Ive only ever been here for the buffet. The first time there was dal makhani - my first time having it, was very flavorful. This time around my beloved chicken makhani - sauce was amazing, there wasnt much chicken swimming around in that sauce though. I mostly filled up on rice and naan. It gets crowded around lunchtime, then is completely dead once the rush is over. They will start clearing everything up even though you are still there eating - protip: go early and get there ahead of the crowd.

Never recommend this restaurant....... Ordered 2 goat and 1 chicken Biryani today for Togo. No masala / onions are given. Food is below average, looks like they mixed rice with curry. Found 2 tamarind seeds in the food while eating ( which is very hard to eat ). We called the restaurant , explained the manager, the quality of food delivered. Manager response: "Take out the seeds from your mouth and eat the left over". NO PROPER QUALITY MAINTAINED NO PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDED NEVER RECOMMENDED
