is there less that one star available??? Went to the Emerald loop for St Patricks day and we arrived around 915 pm. Being a tourist I fully expect to wait in line at an irish bar on St Paddys day. Anyways it was busy but no where near as busy as it shouldve been. Great location but thats about it with this place. You get seated by a host and while waiting we had two drunks beside us making out like they were doing it for the first time. We got a table right away, like I said it was pretty busy but not full. We proceeded to people watch and we witnessed the worst dj ing of all time. Some dude on his laptop blasting crappy music (not irish at all) and even stopping songs half way through to go to the next. Ive been in the bar industry for about 10 yrs and never seen anything like it. Then we witnessed what looked like the owner or maybe general manager drinking on the job and even giving his staff beers. Look I get it, but it was barely 930, I can see that at last call maybe. I then witnesses a table of 5 be seated right next to us. They waiting about 15 or 20 minutes and left. Not a single drink served, what makes it worse is that we were right beside the station where the host was and thats where the GM or owner was handing out drinks to his staff. We finished our drinks and headed to the river north bar district where ironically we ran into the group of 5, who were also tourists, and we proceeded to both mock the bars efforts. What a total crapfest that bar is. Im embarrassed for a few staff that may work hard there, because with leadership like that, cant be a great place to work. Futhermore, I met up with some friends the next night who live in Ukranian Village who said to us "Why did you go there? That place is awful!!" - From a local.

I LOVE this Irish pub! We have been staying at the Wyndham Grand River front during a clipper-sub-zero-temp-storm so no one wants to venture out very far. GOOD THING! Had we not been stranded by our own weak-wills, we wouldnt have discovered the great food at this pub! My favorites so far: their FISH TACOs (which I had never even like the THOUGHT of fish and tacos together before but I have eaten them 3 times in 24 hours. This place gives great discounts, loyalty rates, and are not shy to throw in a freeby! I had ordered a lava cake to go (and just as I was leaving, the wonderful lady said, "I just threw in a 2nd lava cake in there for ya!" after they had already given me a huge discount! I hope, hope, hope they get the crowd they deserve because they are not only wonderfully Irish and hospitable, but they have great food!

On arrival, there were plenty of people sitting outside enjoying the weather. On entweimg, at 6.30pm there were plenty of people in the bar area. But I managed to get a seat at the bar quite quickly. The staff were slow to serve, but the beer was excellent. Smithwicks. I ordered the shepherds pie. Big mistake. Under the potato was a layer of melted cheese that was never in there when o was a boy in England. I had to add sauce and salt and pepper to eat but half of it. While sitting at the bar, the sky next to me was handed a bill that was incorrect and had someone elses. Credit card with it. A few no idea later it was sorted out. It looks like a good place for Erie ds or groups of people to hang out and talk. There are at least 6 large screen Tvs if you get bored. Personally I will give this a miss next ti.e I am in town.

After a long work day, I went to the Emerald on the loop at the suggestion of a friend. It was 8:00 p.m. and I really just wanted a hot meal and a Guinness. Sat at the bar and ordered Fish and Chips - promoted on the menu as "Smithwick’s Ale battered and fried, served with french fries and green peas". It took over 40 minutes for the food to arrive and when it did, the fish was like 2 Mrs. Pauls frozen patties fried in old grease. I was expecting a traditional beer battered treat and was greatly disappointed. The bartenders were nice and didnt charge me for the food - which I didnt eat - but overall, I expected better. Could be that they were just busy with the holiday rush but if you want good service and a traditional Fish and Chips, I would look elsewhere.

I would never dine there again. Unacceptable customer service. It was seven of us it took 30 minutes for the Manager (acting as a server at the time) to take our drinks order. Another 45 mins for our food order. The place was not busy at the time. Waited on our food for additional 45 mins. My burger was serves with peace of hair. Upon replacing of the burger, i received the same bun, with new side of french fries. This is a health concern. I never had meal replaced with the same food ingredients used initially for the meal. I had to ask for a brand new burger. The manager was absolutely ignorant until i had to raise my concern. The Worse place to dine in Chicago.

Visited Emerald Loop about a week ago. Stellar service, great food and sangria. I had SUCH A GREAT TIME, I did not realize I left my entire wallet on the table. Leaving Chicago promptly the next day and realizing where it was..it would be a week before I could go back and get it. A staff member by the name of Kevin offered to overnight it to me which was at the expense of the restaurant although it should have been myself. A huge thank you to Kevin and Emerald Loop staff in general for being overly accommodating, and wonderful. I cannot name a single restaurant who would do this for anyone else. Will be back very soon. :)

So... the prices-- be careful what you order. But I follow them on Facebook and keep on top of the deals, which helps a lot. They run great deals. Also, for your birthday, they send you gift cards-- nice ones... enough to cover your burger and fries and drink, which is more than what some other restaurants offer. My favorite time to visit is St. Patricks Day -- they have FREE BREAKFAST from 6:30 - 8:30 in the morning (if St. Pats is a weekend, they celebrate the Friday before), and live dancers, and WGN comes in, and its a great way to start your morning.

Came in at a little over midnight. Bartender took my order, I was starving and ordered a cheeseburger medium well. 55 minutes later I received my burger, which was well done and burnt. I got back to my hotel with the burnt taste still in my mouth. Another parton was waiting for his to go sandwitch just as long while the bartender walked by it at least twice. Overall, this is not a place to go if your looking for a quick bite. For an in and out simple order, total service time was over an hour.

A nice place with a sports bar feel. Lots of big TVs and plenty of seating. Check Foursquare for a check-in deal. I received a free appetizer, we chose the soft pretzels. They were enough for two people and the dipping sauces were very tasty. For dinner I had the South of the Border burger and loved it. They also had a draft beer of the month special which was a good value. The service, food, and atmosphere were enjoyable and I will go back again.
