Listen to me, there are thousands of places to eat in Chicago, just dont choose this one. I came in with my family and it was obvious that if you were not part of the "regulars" then you really werent welcome. The manager immediately saw that we had children and began to campaign that the environment wasnt good for kids. First he said it was because of the cooling mist that sprays occasional to keep its patrons cool, then he said it was because the music was too loud. It felt like he was discriminating against the kids because if they ate there he wouldnt look cool in front of his friends. Mind you we didnt even complain about a thing and were really just excited to sit down and eat on the rooftop which provides a nice view. It was 8:00 in the evening and the sign out front clearly said "family dining." The manager also did not want us to sit in a premium seating area with a view and kept trying to stick us in a dark corner away from everybody without a view. I walked away from the table to store our stroller and he immediately began to work on my wife, telling her that it was a bad enviornment for our kids and kept trying to get her to move tables. My wife stood fast regardless of the hostile situation. We then ordered our food. Kids behaved fine and food was good. Server was great and the rest of the visit went off without a hitch, minus the fact that I could see the manager arguing his point with all the servers and a bar patron. He also kept playing with the music volume as if to prove a point that it was too loud and we were bad parents. The manager clearly needs to educate himself on various lifestyles and behaviors of familys. We are a family that does everything together. Sometimes we choose a loud restaurant and sometimes we dont. Who cares? Its not like the music was vulgar or crowd was dressed inappropriately. It was just a normal loud restaurant with a taste of a bar feel to it. Our kids were fine. My advice to the manger is chill! Not all kids are little monsters that are gonna ruin your "tough guy, wise guy" Personna. When a family walks in welcome them, or better yet just remove the "family dining" from your sign. I am a 17 year veteran Police Officer and we race stock cars as a family on the weekends. My point is that my family has many life experiences and are not sheltered. It is insulting that the manger treated me and my wife as if we needed to be quoranteed to the corner of the Room. This may not be a fair thing to say but id hate to see what this guy does when someone comes in with a handicap special need.

Went to Plymouth last night after reading great reviews and some not great reviews. I think most people only take time to leave negative reviews and not positive ones, myself included normally but not this time. We eat out often and frequent higher end restaurants and border line hole in the walls, Plymouth is neither. Its an awesome casual restaurant with huge portions and excellent prices, especially for Chicago. We went around 10 p.m. on a Friday night and got seated at the rooftop bar immediately. It was a very nice casual setting with people enjoying food and adult beverages but nobody was hammered or annoying. Our server did a great job, she took good care of us, probably because shes from Ohio (Go Bucks!) We ordered the chips and dips as well as the onion petals for an appetizer. Our server brought out a giant basket of house made chips (equal to 4 baskets that you would get at an average Mexican restaurant) 2 kinds of fresh salsa, a fresh guac and a sour cream. The hotter salsa (its not real hot) was hands down the best but the mild and guac were excellent as well. We mixed the two salsas together after we got about halfway through with them, try it, its really good. The onion petals were easily the best I have had and the same goes for the dipping sauce for them. The petals came out in a huge bowl, the portion was easily equal to a blooming onion if not bigger. I got the California club on a pretzel bun and my wife got the shish kabob chicken sandwich. Our server brought our dinners out with perfect timing, right after we threw the towel in on trying to finish the appetizers (2 appetizers are too much for 2 people, they are huge). My sandwich was huge and very good, my wife enjoyed hers as well. We both got the waffle fries which were very good and Im not a huge fan of fries. We both got a soft drink and our total bill came to $34 which is more than reasonable, I thought it would have been north of $50. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better meal with a better atmosphere. I highly recommend stopping in, you wont be disappointed!

After the Fantastic Food Live expo myself (in the restaurant industry 12+ years) and the Chef of the restaurant we were representing at the expo decided to find and try a representation of the Chicago taste and atmosphere and went to Plymouth roof top around 5pm. Our waitress (older woman, dyed blonde hair) came to our table about 10 minutes after we were seated. Never introduced herself, brought us the wrong shots, and told us we were wrong when he pointed out the mistake (no biggie, just fix it). She didnt. She took our order, reather short and rudely. I specifically asked to not have pickle chips and asked if I could switch it out. She snapped back that she couldnt. So I simply asked not to include the pickle chips and ordered a separate side. She finished the order and simply walked away. No questions, no options, no nothing. When the food arrived, the pickle chips were still included, and our order was completely wrong. But she dropped the food and left so quickly we couldnt even ask for a fix. She never checked on us and we had to track her down for the check. She rolled her eyes and turned around and returned rather quickly, slamming the checkbook down and left. Now as restuarantors ourselves we understand things happen, especially during busy hours. But her rude and careless attitude was absolutely atrocious. Unfortunately our experience of Chicago dining was extremely disappointing. We will not be returning. Nor will any of our associates. A very unfortunate way to end our fantastic food experience in Chicago.

A friend and i went here for some drinks and could not use the rooftop area because it was "too cold" when it was around 50 degrees but that didnt bother us anyway. We sat at the bar and the bar tender was so cool and talked to us a lot. She made our drinks and offer advice for us for other drinks to try. She had a few shots of something while we were there as well as she was tasting the drink she was supposed to be making for someone who had no idea what it was. Lol anyway the manager not sure what her name is was very crotchety and rude to people at the bar. Not only did the people at the bar have a problem with her but the employees also said she is rude to everyone. My friend and I asked the manager why the rooftop area was closed since it was like 50 degrees outside and snapped at us and told us its closed and it doesnt matter why but if you really want to know why its because the sides near the edge of the building are out of order. I was extremely unimpressed with her and thats why the review is only 3 stars. If it werent for her i would have given 5 stars and my friend and i would have stuck around this bar instead of leaving to go to "the bar below in chicago". If the owner gets to read this review and others like it you should do something about this manager because she is costing you money and customers. Your bar is really cool but this manager brings the whole place down.
