I live in Homewood, and I finally made it over there. Holy Cow is their stuff good. I had one of their Cornish pasties, which is an individual meat pie, for lunch today. I was in Cornwall, England a few years ago. Its sort of the birthplace of the pastie. Bakewells version is absolutely authentic to that region. I also tried their scones, which I have also had in both England and Ireland. Again, authentic and delicious. While my grandparents were from Cornwall, and I grew up eating pasties (sorry, mother, Bakewells are better), I never thought I would see any around here. again

Ive been trying to come here for months, but never get the chance due to their irregular hours. I went by today, hoping theyd be open. Got to the bakery at 12:20 PM and saw the closed sign again! Another sign on the door said they would be "open Wed-Fri 6:30 AM - 4 PM this week." All of the chairs were stacked up on the tables, lights were out, no one was there right in the middle of their special hours. Im really disappointed. I dont think Ill come back here again until they have actual, regular hours.

Watch for hours of operation. They arent open all the time, but are awesome to boot. Be sure to check hours before arriving. I really dont want to say this is the best pastry place around because if I did maybe all the pastries would be gone. But the best is the best and you should let people know. I guess I just want to keep it a secret but it just feels so good to say it. You have to try there pastries. They are fresh made, not frozen, not pre-cooked. Awesome establishment with great coffee

My mother is a Brit and so I grew up eating many of the pastries, both savory and sweet, that they make here. It truly is a gem in the south suburbs. They have quickly fit into our community and are a part of it. And their afternoon tea on Sunday is unreal. A steal at twice the price and delicious. There is a reason they have gotten such good reviews from Chicagos Best and Chicago Magazine. If you make it to the area, stop in. You will no regret it.

I went for tea service and it was fantastic ! The food, tea, service was all great. I read reviews that the owner was rude, not the case at all ! She answered all of our questions and was very attentive. The sandwhiches were great and baked goods out of this world. We were even given a to go box of goodies ! The price for tea is very reasonable $30 a head. Reservations for tea are a must since space is limited. Cant wait to go back.

Absolutely DELISH!!!! Has such a European feel to it. I lived in Germany and Amsterdam and loved the bakeries. Mostly how DELISH the tasty treats were. I ordered a blueberry muffin and a raspberry tart. AMAZING!!!! The freshness and the natural flavors, minus all the extra sugars. This will be a frequent indulgence for me. So happy that I can go down the street and not have to fly over the water to enjoy such tasty treats!!!

Worked here for 2 days. The lady that owns it doesnt know how to train employees and is very rude at the slightest mistake and openly mocks employees. Also very unprofessional comments towards customers about private matters. Would not recommend to anyone. Would give zero stars if possible. If you cannot train or run a business WELL then your establishment should not be called BakeWELL.

Bakewell Bakery has "Real Scones!" Not the cheap imitations found in coffee houses & grocery stores. I ADORE scones, but hadnt had a "real one since Fresh Starts quit making them years ago. Im in love with Bakewell Bakery! And Montie, who waited on me last week is such a breath of fresh air! Her sincere joy de vivre is contagious! I left feeling on top of this world!

Cannot possibly express in a brief review the gem that Bakewell truly is...my expat Mum in law has found an authentic taste of home in the south suburbs, my husband has a regular Friday lunch date with their phenomenal Cornish pasties, and I cant get enough of the afternoon tea service. We have a wonderful experience every time we visit!

While I really enjoy Bakewell, I was very disappointed today when I pulled up to get some Christmas gift cards to find it closed 25 minutes BEFORE closing., whats with that..not very professional.. If you want to close at 1pm..change your signs and Web page.

This is the BEST Place to go to. Delicious homemade bake goods. Not sure what the negative comments were all about, but I have always had perfect service and I have never seen anyone argue with anyone! BOTTOM LINE best place to purchase homemade pastries.
