What an adorbs spot in a gentrifying area that still has a little oom-shaBoom (ie: still edgy). The restaurant itself is super cute and kitschy. Great decor & atmosphere. We sat out on the patio which is a very urban experience complete with market lights (uh, yes please) and the constant sound of the train which really adds to the atmosphere. I was catching up with a childhood friend and we loved it that we had to stop, wait for the train, giggle, and then resume our conversation. Our server was To. Die. For. This is my personal observation - she was delightful, witty, helpful, personable and fabulous. Yes, we had a girl crush. Here’s what we had: YUMMY cucumber margaritas - super tasty & refreshing Corn & Cheese Arepa - ermagerd, this was so tasty & filling. check out the picture - it was just a mouth party. Mushrooms & pickled veggies piled on a crispy corn cake. It was a like a pinwheel flavor extravaganza. I’m looking forward to coming back !

Ive never been to the original, but Ive walked past it a few times going to Fatpour... Really quite good. The pork belly isnt going to be as luxurious as youd get at Publican, but youre not going to Publican. Its delicious nonetheless, and the drinks are quite good, too. Service was fantastic and did not lead astray; I asked for several recommendations and felt as though she cared enough to actually suggest things that went well together (dinner, drink, dessert) versus whatever they wanted to move that night. And if they *did* want to move the stuff I had, well, kudos all around. Glad that the other half of the place is sort of walled off for private events. There was some sort of 20-something holiday like party thing going on and it was nice to have the cadré of hip things staying loud oer there and not at our table. Cant wait to go back!

Cute bar that opened up recently in West Loop. The tacos here are yummy--- great combination of flavors that burst in your mouth and bring something new to the taco scene. The food overall is meant to be shared, but still on the smaller side. The chorizo stuffed peppers in particular were a lot smaller than my friends and I were expecting when we ordered it. I ordered the Peruvian margarita, which was really good--- much better than my second drink, which was the Pisco Olivo. The waitress said it was one of their most popular drinks--- I guess I like stronger drinks with a kick at the end though--- so spicy drinks for me. The popcorn butterscotch mousse was my favorite--- a must-order when youre here! Definitely a fun place to be on a Friday night. Also, you can send a friend a postcard for a free margarita--- were def going back!

So I would give more stars buuuut we had a disappointing experience recently. My friend and i went there around 330 on a Saturday for some delicious extra natural margaritas and their extra yummy vegetarian beer cheese arepas. When we stepped in, we were told first by the hostess they werent open. After looking at door on our way put, we noticed the hours that stated they were open. We came back in and asked a waitress who explained the kitchen is closed from 3-5 to prep for dinner but we could have drinks. Hungry...so we asked to speak to a manager as it wasnt posted on their website, door or menu. The manager said..."ohh weve been meaning to post that ". Yeah probably shouldnt lie to customers on all your formats. Umm maybe wont be back since the attitude was " oh well".

I walk by this place alot so I figure I give it a try. 6/10/17 @ 6:45pm We did not have much time but we had enough for a drink and appetizers. We sat at the bar but was met with a very unfriendly female bartender who it seem obvious she was not into it. After we got her attention she made a weird face as if we were bothering her she asked what we wanted without greeting us and then asked her co worker to tend to us and she went to the corner to speak to a guy. The male bartender Michael was amazing. Mr. Richard the manager is great very polite. Most likely I will not be back if that female bartender is around.

Ive been to Bar Takito a handful of times now and I cant say enough about the service, food, and drinks. I always recommend it to my personal training clients (special occasions, of course :)). Since my girlfriend works in the restaurant industry, we always have the highest expectations of any restaurant we visit. Weve never been disappointed with anything weve tried here. I highly recommend sharing the small plates while sipping the "That Is What They Called Me in High School" drink. Heres a list of my (plate) favorites: Three Sisters Polenta, Lamb Barbarcoa, and Chorizo Stuffed Peppers.

Came here Friday after work, was very busy but managed to get 2 seats at the bar. Ordered a caipirinha and got something that looked orange and tasted like koolaid. Awful. Dark and stormy, just as bad. Shrimp ceviche was actually nicely seasoned, highlight of the evening. Potatoes with pork belly had no pork belly just a mayo sauce, no flavor, very disappointing. Continued downhill with the beef barcacosa tacos which were dry and flavorless at 2 for $9. Ive had delicious tacos for $2-3 each that could have put these to shame any day. Awful. Never coming back.

Another great experience at Bella Trattoria (Not surprised!). This place is fantastic. Got the brussel sprouts with pancetta and the smoked salmon and caviar over a linguini type noodle and white sauce.... (Yummy!). Finished with some chocolate gelato. I wish this place was in my neighborhood so I could just walk over for dinner. And also want to mention the stellar service. The staff was so nice... again. If you havent been... you are missing out.

Big fan of Bar Takito, have been there several times now. Can get lively and busy, but not uncomfortably crowded and service has always been really good. Food is more Latin fusion. Must try the coffee braised beef tacos! My favorite item. The ceviche and octopus are great too. Also offers a unique drink menu. I have introduced 5 people to Bar Takito and they all loved it too. One friend in town wanted to go back for dinner the next day!

Eclectic bar with Latin American food ... delicious! I loved every single bite they had to offer. Their cucumber margarita was really, really tasty -- you can really savor that cucumber taste, not at all watered down. Beautiful dessert - it was hazelnut flavored pudding with edible flowers on top. Just to die for! Easy transportation to get there...the El train is right next door!

Drinks and food were delicious. Ordered Tilapia fish tacos, the grilled octopus, and the cerviche, all dishes were delicious. There was a bit of basil in the tacos which added a different flavor profile and it was fantastic. Mix drinks not too strong but refreshing, and ample seating when we were there at 5:30ish on a Friday night - gets more crowded as the night went on

This is a great place to go if you want to be surrounded by pretentious yuppies that enjoy paying $18 for "takitos" that taste like donkey scrotum and will do nothing to fill you up. But dont worry, for a more affordable option, you can pay $7 for a small handful of tortilla chips that come with a few testicle sized tomatoes. Lots of winners on the one page menu. Stay away.
