I have no review on the food because we never got our order. When we arrived, the host, who seemed to be all over the place, took my name and number in my party, but failed to inform me of the expected wait time for a table. After about 30-45 minutes of waiting for a table, I approached the host and asked how much longer it would be for a table. As opposed to giving me a time frame, she told me that she had many empty tables that needed to be filled, and only 3 names had been crossed off of her list, with about 7 more before me. It took the staff 15-30 minutes to clear and set up a table that had been vacated. Another 30 minutes passed, and I noticed that she was seating parties of 3-4 that had arrived after us in tables that can obviously occupy 2 people. Mind you, this woman was also taking orders, answering the phone, bringing food out, and clearing vacated tables on top of hosting. She would also have to go all around the restaurant and the outside patio when she was trying to find the next party that she was going to seat. No one was asked to stay in the same area if they are on the list for a table. I asked my husband to ask when we would be seated, and she told him that we were next. He said that she showed him her list and she skipped my party several times! We ordered our drinks and placed our food order. After a 40 minute wait, we asked our server how much longer before our food was ready, and he stated that it would be out shortly. We waited another 5 minutes and left without notifying anyone because it was obvious that they didnt care. The place did seem to be understaffed, but a place that is one of the top 10 on TripAdvisor, as well as a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor, should have better service, even when understaffed. Dont even go all the way to this restaurant, you will get better service and food at 80E

This is the worst restaurant I had ever tried in Savannah GA (Tybee island). I have been living there for 2 years and before move to NC I wanted have a good farewell and remember like a nice town. I went with my friend. The guy brought two menu and he put in the center of the table. Never gave one to my friend and one to me. No manners and how to be kind with the clients. I went with my friend to eat something and we requested from the menu "plantain with salsa". The picture in the menu show yellow plantains (this mean the plantain is no ripe) and a side salsa. When he gave us the dish never look like the picture. He brought SWEET PLANTAIN (this mean the plantain is ripe) covered with honey and chop onion and tomatoes. The tomatoes was spoiled (this mean over ripe). I explained him the difference between plantain and sweet plantain. He didnt worry about this. His behavior was negative. The other waiter (the guy with the curly hair) was nice and offer return the plate. Finally we decide let the restaurant and paid the lemonade and the sweet tea and paid the "plantains" that we never ate. The total was $11.20. I gave the guy $20.00. He took it and told me, "is all." He wanted retain the change like tip...no no no.....where was the good service and behavior? I had to tell him, "the change please." This kind of waiter and the restaurant administration dont care about have good manners and how keep a good service with the clients. This is a bad restaurant that give bad reputation to Tybee island area. Zero starts!!!!!!!!.

I will start with the good part of this evening, the food tasted really good. Good, I got that out of the way, now I can start my lengthy amount of issues. We arrived about 7 pm for dinner we waited about 30 minutes to be seated at our table. The waitress came by about 10 min later for our drink order which she obliged us with. We did not see her again for 25 min. I hailed over the hostess who seemed peeved by that waitress but was nice enough to take our dinner order. The waitress came by 15 minutes later to take our dinner order. Furthermore, the band which was playing could easily been acoustic. They were very loud. It made it difficult to order or even enjoy each others company, God forbid we ignore the elderly warbling of songs which were never meant to be played as loud as they were being played, but I digress. I am not a person who believes in not tipping. We left $2 to the waitress and ended up tipping out the hostess because she was the only person who payed any attention and made us feel welcomed.

The North Beach Grill serves up great food in a great location, that much I will say. Whenever weve gone there our food has been delicious and fresh, and the atmosphere is really top notch. Our problem has always been the service; sometimes youll get your food within fifteen minutes of ordering, sometimes it takes closer to 45 minutes. This is true whether the restaurant is half-empty or full; they seem to increase their staff appropriately for busy hours, but have too few for the rest of the day. But as I said sometimes the services is very prompt, so its pretty much a roll of the dice. Pricewise theyre mid-ranged; Id budget $20 per person before drinks. Id say the price is about right for the quality, though; our familys favorite is always the crabcakes, which is always delicious.

Went there this past October for a nice dinner out and to watch the moon rise over the ocean. The first table we were sitting at was too close to the band and too loud. So they moved us I was concerned that our food would be delivered to the wrong table but the server assured us she wouldnt let that happen. Out food did go out to the wrong table and we watched as the other people sampled our food. The server then picked up the food and brought it to our table. I said the other people had been warring our food and she said no they hadnt. The other fork was still in my plate. She took the food away and brought out more but I couldnt eat it. The manager never came over to apologize and we had to pay full price for food I never ate. I will never go back.

The waitress (Maddie) clearly didnt want to be working. I was her first customer of the day and she was already in a bad mood. They dont cook burgers medium well anymore. I dont know how you cant cook a burger like that but medium was fine I guess. She filled my water glass and placed it on the other side of the table from me. The Cole slaw was gross but the burger was okay. Too bad this is the only place at North Beach to get decent food. I also overheard another waitress sarcastically talk about her charm to another table. Well it looks like they know shes a jerk and dont care. Oh well. My tip reflected that attitude.

These people care about their food. Plain and simple. Nothing is "standard" or "run of the mill". Even the sweet potatoe fries are special. I had the chef special which I can only explain as a smoked octopus and squid "salad" which was more like a slaw topped with raw tuna in a one of a kind sauce. Dish blew my mind. Was an Asian flavored west coast type dish. One of the top 3 entrees Ive ever had and Ive had a lot. Would top my list in terms of flavor. Obvious there is a lot of pride taken by all involved in their food. Put yourself on island time and enjoy it.
