When you first walk in, you can see an old award from (22) years ago. Well ... something must have gone wrong in the last (22) years. When I first try a Chinese restaurant, I try the fried rice, because, if you cant cook fried rice, there is something wrong! I went in today because the name is kind of catchy. Well I guess the cover to this book is misleading. They ask $11.95 for a box of Beef Fried Rice. While I was waiting for my take out order ... I had to use the restroom. I could see that the diners had nice looking rice, which brought my expectations up, knowing that my rice would be the same. Well, guess what? The price that they charge was not equal to the quality of the rice that I received. The rice was the white steamed rice. You know ... the over cooked, clumpy, starchy, bland rice that you usually get as a side order when you get stuff like egg foo young. This is the absolute worst rice that I have ever had. And I have had rice all around the world, and all around the United States. When I called back to let them know what happened ... it turned out, as they put it ... Not A Mistake! They told me to bring it back so that the chef could look at it. I live (15) miles away from their store. Its not worth my time and gas for them to tell me the same thing in person, as they told me on the phone. They said that it doesnt have to be today ... [Saturday], you can bring it back on Monday, Well ... you guys know that in (2) days ... the rice will be a different color. And further more, "Why Do I Have To Keep Rice For (2) Days"? Hey people ... dont waste your time and money. They claim to have been at that location for (40) years. I think that their time is up! This place deserves (10) thumbs down for the horrible food, and the jive excuses that they give to justify the high prices for the cheap products that they use. DONT GO THERE!

I must say I was very disappointed with the lunch the other day. It appears that they have started giving much more rice and a lot less meat in their menu. If we are going to pay $9 for a lunch meal and NOT get a soup and NOT get an eggroll, then I would think that the meals should be proportionate to the cost. The waiter came one time to fill some water although he appeared new. It appears that they have changed the waiter staff and now lack the friendly manners that used to be. WE we very dissappointed and left hungry after paying $20 for a lunch. This place is not what it used to be and we will not be returning again. There are many new chinese food places that have are worth the $$.

The old awards on every wall would lead you to expect that youre going to experience some magical chinese food but in the 5+ times Ive been its been hit or miss with the food. My wonton soup the last visit didnt taste like pork dumplings, it tasted like what I would imagine mystery meat (my mind even wandered to horse) to taste like. Cashew chicken was OK on my first visit but the food went downhill. The service is fine (fine in my experience isnt a very high standard at all, idk how anyone gets GOOD service anywhere) but I wouldnt return for the food. They could use some renovation.

This place is amazing! Holy crap! Additionally, to the people leaving reviews about the fried rice, please do some research and stop assuming you know how Chinese cuisine should be prepared. To get awesome fried rice, you dont use fresh rice made that day. You could, but it should be cold before recooking it. Its better with yesterdays rice. The grains hold a better texture when being fried. Using fresh/hot rice will clump together and just become mushy. Its a similar concept to "yesterdays soup". Its better the next day.

We have been patronizing House of Chan for over 25 years, so it goes without saying that we love their food. We have gotten into the habit of going there weekly for takeout. Our favorites include Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp, Beefsteak Hong Kong Style, Three Kinds of Delicacies, Hunan Sea Bass, and the Egg Drop Soup. And the staff is so nice. The only negative is that it has spoiled us. We probably pass between 5 and 10 other Chinese restaurants just to get there.

I go here once to twice a week for lunch. The food always tastes freshly made and looks it too. I normally stick to the same dishes when it comes to chinese. At House of Chan I change it everytime I go and it all has been wonderful. The specials at lunch are even great! A little higher then the fast food asian lunch, but worth it. If you eat in hot tea and fried noodles are included on every table. I never leave hungry and the service is wonderful.

The prices that they have on All Menus and their prices differ greatly. Its too expensive for take-out. Two egg rolls, one crab rangoon, one Szechuan beef, and one small veggie lo mien came up to $38.85!!! Thats almost $40 worth of food that is not even delivered, you have to drive there to get it! Man alive, highway robbery. If we wanted to pay that much for Chinese food, wed eat at an authentic Chinese sit-down restaurant.

Very disappointed in the lack of options here. I requested fried rice without onion and was told that I could not have it that way because the rice was pre-made. I cant understand a menu item being pre-made like that. I ultimately did not place an order. I typically trust locations that have been zagat rated in the past but was very disappointed today. Be mindful that your food here may not be fresh.

Best hot and sour soup Ive ever had! I loooove this restaurant and I will continue to come even though its very out of the way for me. The wait staff are very friendly and professional and the price is good for the amount of food you get (a lot). According to a newspaper cutout of a previous review, house of chan is "a gem in a sea of unpolished stones" and I couldnt agree more.

Have been coming here sine 1986. At one time hands down the best in Atlanta. Other reviews referred to Kulu chicken as sweet & sour, far cry from the normal. It is authentic sweet & sour. Some of staff have been there for 20 years. This is still a great resturant. Try the War Wonton Soup & the Dragon Hourse Chicken. Their beef dishes are best in city. Well worth the price.

I have been eating at House of Chan (literally) my entire life - my mother was going there when she was pregnant with me! In two decades it has never failed to impress. The food is consistently amazing and the people are friendly and efficient. My favorites are the Dragon Horse Chicken or Walnut Chicken in a Birds Nest, but everythings good.

Weve loved their food for over 30 years and drive past many other Chinese restaurants on our way to Hof Chan! Their sesame chicken is better than any you will ever try. The staff is so attentive and treat everyone like family. I dont know why one reviewer said that about the canned veggies...everything looks and tastes super fresh to us.
