My boyfriend and I *attempted* to eat at Cafe Alsace last Friday (8/28), but we never got a chance because the the waitstaff NEVER acknowledged our presence when we came in to be seated. Two tables were clearly open and there were no people waiting or being seated before us. We waited and waited, but the waitstaff and owner walked past us several times without acknowledging us. They didnt say "hello" or "one moment" or anything. It was as if we were invisible. I have never experienced anything like that before and was humiliated. If youve ever been inside this restaurant before, youll know that its small and diners can clearly see you waiting for a seat. Even some of the diners began to notice that we were not being seated. When we turned around to leave another couple was coming inside. To our shock, the waitress who had walked past us several times immediately approached the couple and sat them. We were barely out the door. To add injury to insult, another couple entered and we watched (through a window) as they were promptly seated. Again, no one ever said anything to us. I should note that my boyfriend and are an interracial couple and we couldnt help but feel that we were discriminated against. I would never make an allegation like that lightly, but there really is no other explanation. I hope the owner reads this to know that in the modern age the internet allows people to blow the whistle on these sorts of things. If any readers of this review have had a similar experience, please post about it. Dont stay silent!

I am staying in Avondale Estates with a close friend while shopping the Atlanta Mart for my retail store in Orlando. My friend and had dinner after the show on Sunday. We were not greeted for about 5 minutes. When we said we would prefer to set in the window and would be happy to wait until it was cleared, with no retort to us the hostess turned to that table and began slamming one dish on top of another. We were seated by her and our orders were taken. In about 30 minutes a salad appeared for my friend. I continued to sip on my wine and in another 15 minutes both of the appetizers I ordered for my meal appeared together...,,a cheese and grape platter and onion soup along with my friends main. I further noticed we were never given cloth napkins as the other guests had received. She did not converse with us st any time regardless we left her the expected tip. I mentioned to her in leaving that it had not been our intention to upset her but apparently we had. She did not reply. Needless to say. I will not return. Fun being with my friend but terrible and degrading service.

After failing to get a table the evening before (the wait was longer than we were willing to endure), my wife and I had brunch at Cafe Alsace today (3/21). We called ahead to make sure that it was open, the lady who answered had an accent that seemed French but couldnt be sure. We got there and were greeted by the lady who I spoke to on the phone. The Cafe is small but cozy. The atmosphere is very informal and filled with lots of collective french items that make it fun and had my wife recalling what french she knew. The food was fabulous and the service was very attentive, and joyful. Ill definitely make the drive (50min) again to eat here.

I love this place, especially since I lived in Strasbourg. However, I dont live near Decatur, and they do not take reservations if you have fewer than 4 people. Since it is a very small dining room, and somewhat popular, each time I have tried to take a date all the way over there without a reservation, they are packed, so its a long wait, and we end up going elsewhere. I tried to explain this to them on the phone, but they were rather unsympathetic. Polite, but cold. Its a shame, since if I could make a reservation for two, I would go a twice a month, at least. Tant pis!

Small and cozy atmosphere. Out of the way yet convenient Street facing location. Very authentic French cuisine. I tried the escargot as an appetizer and the French onion soup as well. Birth were spot on. I could tell they were made in house. Entre was a large salad with a seared beef filet. The taste and mixture of beef, potatoes, dressing and blue cheese was heavenly. I highly recommend eating here.

We went two time at this restaurant. I as French, I enjoy finding French restaurant. We order a flammkuchen, is was the best I had in years and it remind me the one I had in Alsace. However, I had also a "confit de canard" and I was disappointed, it was dry. The second time we went I had a Choucroute, it remind me the one you can buy in France in a supermarket not the one you will find in Alsace.

A friend from out of town and I chose to have dinner at Cafe Alsace having never been there before. It was perfect. What a refreshing change from the trend towards big, crowded, noisey restaurants these days. The food was delicious! Every dish a delight. Great service. The evening is one I will remember and the restaurant is one I will return to again and again! Definitely 5 stars for me!

If youre looking for quality, authentic French food, look no further. Never had French food before? Thats ok, the servers will happily help you figure out what may suit your tastes. This place is small, so the noise can be a bit high and theres often a wait, but its worth it. Also, if you plan ahead and make reservations, youll almost always get seated right away.

The ambiance walking in the restaurant was very nice - the seating is very limited. Unlike many other French restaurants it was unassuming and felt natural. The Beef Wellington was awesome! Everything from the meat, pastry, and vegetables were delicious. The value was also quite good, and would recommend it for a simply great meal.

If youre into Alsatian more than Italian, Benedicte Cooper has been expanding the palates of Atlanta diners since 1997 with her creative takes on the regional food of France, Germany and Switzerland at Cafe Alsace. Her spaetzle is an uncommon treat in the dumplin-lovin South, and her Boeuf Bourguignon would make Julia proud.

The proprietor is very patient and will take all the time you need to explain the difficult-to-even-read food on the menu. The food is fabulous and priced decently. Its a great, cozy spot for a date. I mean, what chick wouldnt want a date at a quaint French restaurant!? Youre guaranteed to be....rewarded ;)

Words cannot describe how wonderful the food. The owners were friendly and it was a delight to hear them speak French. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. I had the Lamb with French lentils and every bite was heavenly! the wine suggestion was excellent and the chocolate mousse was divine.

The food will blow you away. Ratatouille is hands-down my favorite. Authentic food and fantastic service. Get there early as it fills up quickly. Relaxed atmosphere and you get to take your time. They genuinely believe in the joie de vivre!

Delicious, authentic French cuisine. Moderately priced, but servings are more than generous. (Two adults probably could split, if you could actually agree on just one thing...)
