The idea behind ParkGrounds is great - who wouldnt want to have brunch, coffee and an alcoholic beverage while your dog gets to run free on a beautiful Saturday afternoon? However, thats not exactly what you get when youre at ParkGrounds. For starters, I have never had a positive vibe from the owner. He walks around with a holier than thou attitude and never seems to care much for his patrons, dogs included. In addition, their food is quite bland and uninspired, and I had never thought that it would be possible to not enjoy a grilled cheese sandwich or a plate of eggs, sausage and hashbrowns. My biggest concern, though, is the glass. As weekend regulars for a little over a month, we found that we were always picking up very small pieces of broken glass in the dog yard during our visits. These were typically small pieces, nothing large or sharp. ParkGrounds does, in fact, allow you to bring beverages in glass cups and large glass carafes into the dog yard. We had also been warned by one of our friends that her dog had cut herself on her paw at PG, and so had a dog who belonged to a friend of hers. Foolishly, we chose to come back this past Sunday. We had been there for about an hour when we discovered large shards of broken glass around us, so we picked as much of it up as we could and left, when we noticed a large gash in our dogs torso. Our vet confirmed that it appears that glass had punctured our dog deep, and exited through a larger hole two inches above the entrance. We will not be returning to ParkGrounds until they show that they actually care for their patrons, and in this case, dogs are also their patrons. Tables with glass tops, glass cups and glass carafes should absolutely never EVER be allowed in an area where dogs are. Dogs bolt around the park in large groups, knock into tables and chairs, and the atmosphere is incredibly ripe for glass to break and dogs to be cut. Plastic cups and plastic pitchers are what should be allowed in the dog yard. Even IF they allow glass, they need to do a far better job of cleaning it up. Nobody, not even the owner, ever seems to care about the dog park side of the restaurant. If you want a subpar cup of coffee and the most unimpressive food in Atlanta, youll be happy at ParkGrounds. If you value the health of your dog, youll be better served elsewhere. We made a mistake bringing our dog back here, we accept responsibility for knowing the risk and returning anyway - we learned the hard way. Please dont do the same with your pet(s).

I am obsessed with ParkGrounds. No, seriously. My husband and I adopted a German Shepherd mix a little over a month ago. Since then, weve brought her to ParkGrounds almost every day. She knows when were getting close and whines in excitement. Girlfriend loves her some dog park. I love the size of ParkGrounds. Big enough for lots of dogs to run around but not so big that you lose your dog. Its nice that its dirt, too. One teeny tiny suggestion - maybe getting a shovel to scoop dog poop instead of the rake. Trying to rake dog poop up is totally gross - but doable! For the most part, the dog owners are responsible (there are boogers occasionally, but for the most part, the dog owners are great). We havent been able to break our dog of her urge to jump on everyone, but 99% of the people there have not only been cool with it (they agree that its a dog park, and that is expected to happen) but have offered us some really great advice on how to control the jumping. The staff is THE JAM. Seriously. Nicest bunch of folks anywhere. Theyre always friendly - always. The coffee? Yum. Im addicted. The food? SO tasty. (I recommend the BLT. Have mercy, it is delicious.) We are on a tight budget and lots of times, I just get a small coffee. Theres never any judgement - just a friendly smile and a delicious cup of coffee. In conclusion... ParkGrounds is where its at. We will continue to be there every day we can. Thanks to the owner and the staff for making it a great place to be!

Lacking food, but the variety of coffees they serve, along with five brewing methods to choose from, are pretty good. Try the Chemex, there arent many other places to get it. Decent baristas. As always, go to Octane if you want the real deal in coffee, though... I will always stop by for some of the most convenient coffee in Cabbagetown/Reynoldstown, but I usually dont eat anything cooked to order here anymore, as it tends to be very greasy, underflavored, and overpriced for what it is. Whenever Ive gotten the vegan breakfast burrito, its nothing, really, but hashbrowns in a tortilla with pico and guac on the side. The pastries look great, though, and I love anywhere that serves Ardens Gardens juices. Maybe Im spoiled by Java Monkeys coffee shop fare... Dogs are nice. Customers are usually keeping to themselves, lots of hipsters and grungy folk (not necessarily a good or a bad thing), as well as some of the young family-type people that are moving into the area.

Its a decent coffee shop/cafe with a dog park attached. We have been going there the past few weeks to socialize our dog and its been great. The food/coffee is good, wont blow you away. But its really, really nice to have in order to entertain yourself while your dog plays. That is the key advantage over any other dog park you are going to go to, you can sit and have a beer. The dog park is nice. Completely shaded. There isnt much grass so expect them to get dirty but its a small price to pay for not being cooked in the sun. Every time we have gone there have been a LOT of dogs there. That might not be your thing but its great for us as we are trying to socialize a rescue and a lot of dog parks may be dead or only have a few dogs. Since its a cafe you dont do full service but the staff behind the counter and running the food out have always been good and nice.

I took my jack Russel here and Im glad I did! Good coffee and breakfast with average prices! Dogs have their own entrance, a medium sized (entirely) fenced backyard to run and chase. There are provided water bowls and dog waste bags. Humans have some benches and tables inside the dog area and their own enclosed outdoor patio if you decide to watch from a short distance. Humans only inside the coffee shop, so you have to leave your pup in the park to order. This place would have 5 stars in my book if there were a taller fence because theres one spot thats about 4 ft tall so If your dog is prone to jumping fences when overly excited, Id avoid this area. But while I was there no dog was interested in jumping that fence, they were busy playing with the crowd of dogs!

Such a great, fun place! Coffee shop, bar and dog park all in one. This place has such a great neighborhood feel. Theres no pretension here. Come casually as you are and just hang out and enjoy yourself. You have the best of all seating and ambience worlds. You can sit inside in air conditioning at cozy tables, you can sit outside under a roof in an outdoor patio or you can sit in the dog park, out in the open. The best part is you can enjoy your latte, cocktail, beer and sandwich in all of these places. And you can do this while your dog runs around the enclosed yard with her new best buddies. This would all be great on its own and when you add the attentive, friendly service, its a definite superstar.
