During my three days in Decatur, I visited the Brick Store three separate times, but wish I had time to go more. The selection of taps (of which there are only a moderate number, but all are extremely well-selected) and bottles is both exceptional and mind-boggling large. My friends and I sat in the upstairs Belgian bar during our trips to the pub, which was nice as it is somewhat quieter and more intimate than the downstairs American bar. Service was excellent. Their system seems to be that all of the servers pitch in serving your table. This is fantastic, as your beers tend to arrive quickly and you benefit from different recommendations from the knowledgeable staff. The food was good - standard pub fare. The highlight of my visit, of course, was my trip down to the cellar. The Brick Store apparently has two cellars - one upstairs in the Belgian bar, another downstairs in an old bank vault. It is apparent from viewing both that this is a place that truly cares about building an extensive, quality collection of cellared beers. My mind was blown by the sheer number of rarities they have on offer. Plus, it was quite interesting to hear Lees, their beer buyer, take on how the cellar collection is built. After viewing it, I naturally had to order something off the cellar menu, which is perhaps longer than the regular menu. It is true that there are a number of very pricy items, but there is something for every budget, especially one-offs and other limited beers. The collection also offers a good number of verticals on imperial stouts (such as Ten Fidy) and belgian ales. 10 more days would not have been enough to scratch the surface. I will definitely be back here when next I am in Georgia. Side note: the owners of the Brick Store also own Leons just down the street. I found that, while their list of taps and bottles was obviously smaller, they nevertheless had some excellent beers on offer, including some rare items that were not at the Brick Store. Just FYI.

Decatur Square is home to many an excellent restaurant. The Brick Store, while not at the top of my culinary list, is one of my favorite pubs. Food: The food at Brick Store is good. Its not as great as the hot eats at its sibling restaurant, Leons Full Service, just around the corner, but its much better than most bar food. The burger is always a good choice, and for an appetizer I would definitely recommend the cheese plate. Drinks: This is why you go to The Brick Store. I love stout beers and this pub carries them most of the time even during the warm months when everyone dives into hoppy beers. *yuck*. The beer selection is amazing, and for gods sake, please dont go there and order a Bud. They dont carry the swill for the masses. If youre a whiskey drinker, Brick Store has everything you could ask for. Im not much of a whiskey person, but their whiskey menu is just as extensive as their beer menu. Brick Store also has wine and cocktails, but I honestly never get either of those when I go there. Generally, Ill visit Leons if Im in the mood for mixed drinks. Atmosphere: This place is all brick walls, wood floors, and wood tables. Even during the winter, it has a warm, cozy atmosphere. The service has always been great here, and the first floor bar is, IMO, the best seat in the house unless you have a larger party. Theres also an upstairs bar and plenty of seating there too. College students, hipsters, and folks from other walks of life mingle here with equal aplomb. If you like beer, youll love this place.

All I can say is, "Dude." If you are a self-proclaimed beer geek that is always searching for new Untappd ticks or new beers to try, this is the place to go. Nestled in a fun, bustling area of Atlanta, it is easy and convenient to get to and a great place to meet people. There are two parts to the bar. Downstairs, you can sit atop barstools sipping pint (or half pint) after pint of delicious local and worldly brews. Extra star for whoever writes the witty and entertaining beer descriptions; they made me laugh out loud. Food is great too with something for everyone - I very much enjoyed the fish n chips. Sour beer snob? Yeah, they got that too. Have you heard the song, "Stairway to Heaven"? Pretty sure that was written about the upstairs Belgian beer bar at The Brick Store Pub. Cozy, romantic, and employing a staff that is as well-rounded in their knowledge and enthusiasm of the beer they serve, it is THE spot to spoil yourself on heady libations. Its like the Captains Menu of beer bars; ask for the beer bible and you will flip through pages upon pages of cellared beers that you thought no longer existed. Want to revisit that badass 2004 Dark Lord to stir up memories of Dark Lord Day? They probably have it. You name it, you got it. If youve got the dough, that is. Dont expect to walk out of here under $50 if you want to dig into that cellar. But remember that one thing? That one thing that you spent way too much money on but are so glad you did? This place is like that. Go there now.

Walked into the place and automatically loved the atmosphere! Bartenders were very attentive, hostesses went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Had a bizarre situation happen with a party next to our table, we didnt complain, how ever Gi (an employee there) noticed and went out of her way to get the manager involved even though we made it clear we didnt want a comp or anything free. We paid our bill, went upstairs and eventually met Lee, the manager who spent valuable time with us, we had great conversations and he followed everything up with the fact he was getting us a new round of food on the house, which was sweet. Lee, Gi, John, David and Megan are all excellent staff members, especially Gi. Shes the one who sought us out to find out why our visit was unsuccessful...it had absolutely nothing to do with the staff, we didnt want to get anything free at all. The customer service is exceptional, you could be a college grad frat boy or a tatted up welder, it doesnt matter. They accept you and truly give a damn about your visit to their location. I plan on making this a frequent bar, not only bc of all the beer selections, but mostly bc my boyfriend and I were treated like good friends. Customer service at its finest! Lee, Gi, John, David and Megan - thank you for making my time at your establishment worth remembering. You guys really kick ass.

I came here after getting married at the courthouse with a large party and the staff was so accommodating and friendly. They even brought us a couple of flutes of champagne to toast and celebrate; thats going above and beyond! They made an already amazing day even better. The ambiance and decor is very rustic, warm and welcoming. It looks and feels like somewhere a Viking would go for some mead and ale after a long battle. The food was incredible. Even though its not a BBQ joint, they have some of the best Brunswick stew Ive ever had. My mom, who can be a little picky at times, was thoroughly impressed with the sizes and portions, especially with her expertly battered and tasty fish and chips. The beer selection is insanely good! Whoever chooses the beer there, knows their beers. I was delighted to have Scofflaws Double Basement on draught. Overall, an amazing experience at a fantastic place!
