Ate here a few days ago. Im on the fence about this place. Im a chef, so I tend to critique pretty hard. Great environment. Its literally in a cellar, and the low ceilings and bit of mustiness only add to the ambiance. The folks in a corner playing guitar were also rather entertaining. We were seated and greeted promptly. Our server was knowledgeable and fast, but not very personable. I ordered the honey bourbon pork chops and onion soup along with a beer, my girlfriend ordered the sirloin and a Caesar salad. Our soup/salad landed in great time. The salad was great. Crisp lettuce, just enough dressing, and good croutons. The onion soup, however, was way too salty. The cheese on top made it pretty apparent that it was either microwaved or not broiled enough. Our entrees came out very well timed. Our proteins were cooked perfectly. Rare for the sirloin, medium for the chop. Our scalloped potatoes werent proper scalloped potatoes, more towards au gratin. But, thats nitpicking. They were good, and still had a great texture. My braised greens were again, way too salty. This led me to believe the soup and greens, both likely hot-held, arent checked throughout the night for consistency. The honey-bourbon on my chop wasnt readily present, and I found myself searching for the flavors promised. But again, definite grill marks, and a perfect cook on both the chop and sirloin. Overall, I was not impressed. But, we did arrive an hour before close, which most folks in f&b know isnt the best idea. Nonetheless, quality food should not depend on time of arrival. While I found the experience lacking, I will be back to give it another go. I think my experience was the exception to the rule there.

My fiance and I have lived in Emerson for 2 years now. We love finding locally owned restaurants. This place is not very obvious, so we had no idea what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is fabulous! The food was very good. The service was impeccable. We went there during the early evening before dark. This would have been the perfect place for a date! Ambiance means a lot to me. I hate cold-feeling places. I also do not like cafeteria seating type arrangements. In contrast, the "City Cellar" was very intimate and cozy. I highly recommend this place for a romantic date. Yet, it is casual, so theres no pressure to "look" a certain way. Id say its fine for family eating, but better suited for grown-ups. I am not into bars, but I do like being able to socialize with my man and have a few drinks. We have not been able to take advantage of any entertainment there, but I can tell it would be right up my alley for a nice evening. Its a touch of what I like to call, "no-pressure class" in an unexpected place. I think reviews should consider the reviewers education and their expectations. I have a masters degree and I work in television, but that doesnt mean I have a lot of money. I still have to watch my expenses. Both my fiance and I had full meals with salads AND drinks and our total ticket (3 drinks included) was right at $40. I do enjoy being treated like the product Im purchasing is worth my hard earned money.

Cuban Pork Wrap - Amazing. My wife and I were perusing Cartersville looking for lunch in all the wrong places...I turned down a back alley and ended up at some railroad tracks. Then I saw the sign...special, "Cuban Pork Wrap". I had to try it. We started with the onion ring tower...very good onion rings, big portion, and served with a wonderful cucumber jalapeño ranch sauce. My wife had the shrimp po-boy, also very good. But the Cuban Wrap was unreal...delicious, moist, tender pork, sauteed onions, peppers, smoked sausage...it had an AMAZING slightly sweet flavor, definitely not what I was expecting...but soooooooo much better!! Service was outstanding too, but it was a quiet time, late lunch...and I suspect our server was also the proprietor. Its located just off Main St. along the railroad tracks. Definitely worth finding.

A new date night favorite! I dont mean to sound like a snob, but I never expected Cartersville to have such a cool place with such great food. It literally is in the cellar of a building I love the Roderick wall the fireplace the stone floor. I was even more excited when I heard someone start playing the piano in the corner. There was a good bit of a wait, on a Friday night, but we decided to sit at the bar as we like to do anyway. There was room right away our drinks were fantastic and the food was even better. The bartender was friendly and talkative but left us alone when we wanted to eat and enjoy our own conversation. All in all a perfect night.

Loved it. Was in town for the week and only got to stop here once. Wish we would have much more time to enjoy this place over and over again. Food was delicious table service was excellent. The hostess is the reason for the 4 star rating, completely oblivious to who was waiting to be seated. After she sat a family of four that came in after our 2, she then says to my wife "hi have I spoke to you yet". She greeted us at the door and told us let me find your seat 10 minutes ago. She was completely a road block for this great restaurant and almost had us heading for the door. Glad we decided to stay.

Tried this place last night, after reading the great reviews. We were immediately greeted by the owner, who came to our table, twice, to ask how things were. He seemed genuinely interested in our experience and opinions. The food was outstanding! We had the fried green tomato appetizer, then the pork chop dinner and cajun, shrimp dinner. Finished the meal with the buttermilk pie and mocha cheesecake. From start to finish, the meal was incredible. The vibe of the place is really great, too. Great music, great people and even better food! A definite regular place for us to eat!

Been to quite a few clubs downtown Cartersville, but DJ Mikey Diesel and DJ Nunzio really know what theyre doing. The mix of music is awesome, and the show they put on is completely off the chain. Energy, fun and just a hellaciously sick sound system that some of the Atlanta clubs would rival made my night an awesome happening. Combined with good drink prices and the fact that you can come right from the Cellar after having a great meal, this is the one stop shop that Cartersville has been needing for quite some time. Nothing but fun and a good time can be had here.

Wow, where do I start, with a fried green tomatoes with basil mayonnaise outstanding. Then how about the duck with sweet potato grits and a salad....off the chain. We also had peach glaze salmon which was tremendous, we finished up with dessert the OMG pie should be renamed damn this is delicious pie.. . I should also mention we drove 35 minutes to eat there and I would do it every week. Our waitress Jenna fantastic, and the owner walks around and really really cares about how your food is tremendous experience I recommend it highly!

Went for Happy Hour earlier this week. Liked the atmosphere and the drinks were decent, but they were out of a lot of stuff on their menu and hadnt told their wait staff. Every time we ordered something, the waiter came back a few minutes later with a "sorry, were out of that." And it wasnt outlandish requests - Patron, hot wings and ranch dip. It eventually became a comedy of errors, but I wont make the mistake of going back (at least for happy hour).
