I waited a week before writing this review, in order to calm down from the horrible experience we had a the sunset cove beach at Lake Lanier but apparently a week is not enough to recover... We paid quite a lot of money ($15 parking + $15/pp = $75 just to get to the beach (to enter the water park is additional $41 /pp, so we decided to skip), so I was expecting way better amenities than those found... there was no shade at all, no chairs/picnic area... The water were brown, greasy and smelly because of all the boats, which are allowed very close to the beach and were very unpleasant to swim in. On the boats, people were listening to very loud music and drank a lot of alchohol, not the greatest example for my kids. We decided to stay just because we paid so much money to get in and the kids would be disappointed if we left without swimming. At a certain point while we the adults were sitting at the beach, a football ball hit my friends leg. She was in pain and completely shocked when a big drunk guy came to her, opened her legs, took his ball from beneath her chair and went. I asked him to apologize but he just smiled and said he is not the one throwing the ball... a minute later another ball hit my husband strongly in his stomach. He couldnt move and I started yelling at the guy, who really didnt give a damn. I brought the beach security guy who said he cannot do anything but bring his supervisor, who came and couldnt do much as well since it is a public beach and they are allowed to play football. At this point these drunk guys were already throwing their balls next to our young kids (ages 5-8) who were playing at the sand. If one of their balls would hit a childs head it could have ended with severe injury! At this point we told the supervisor that if he cannot make them stop then we have to leave the beach for the sake of our kids and we want our money back. We did get a full refund for the entrance (but not the parking), however, this did not compensate for our frustration, my husbands pain and the violation of my friends intimacy. When we left we told the managers that they really cannot publish this beach as a family friendly resort if they allow drunk people to do whatever they want there and risk the kids. To summarize, if you want nice places to hang out with your kids at Lake Lanier, definitely skip this beach. It has no shadow, the water are dirty, there is loud music and drunk people all around. I am sure that the college kids on the boats had a lot of fun but for us on the beach it was a nightmare. There are so many free, clean beaches at this beautiful lake, why waste so much money to get into this horrible one????? We will never go back to that beach!

Sunset Cove restaurant is located inside Lake Lanier Islands Resort. This means you must pay $10 first to get into and have access to the resort and its amenities. Make sure you ask for a map and directions when you arrive at the gate. Once you finally figure out where to park you will have to walk down several flights of steps and, maybe, a few hundred feet to the beach and restaurant. (you will not see if from the parking lot) The restaurant is not fancy and has no specific dress codes as it caters also to the beach goers and boaters. The food is ok. My wife and I had fish tacos and chicken tacos. I believe it was $14 and $12 respectively. I was disappointed when my plate came and all that I was given was a piece of fish (which itself was good) and topings for it. No side items like you get with the chicken taco. I do have to say that the bright point was the staff. They were very friendly and acted more like a upper level restaurant. If you go, go for the fact you are on the water and can people and boat watch. There are two firepits and chairs so you can sit out just off the beach and hang out. Again, I think the down side is that you have to pay $10 just to enter Lake Lanier to spend additional money on using the amenities.

Terrible experience. If I could give a 0 I would have. Came here on my day off of work and never even got to go to sunset cove. Was directed to go one place and then we went there and the gate was closed. The employees had no idea why it was locked and sent us another direction. After going to the new location we were told we werent sure if we could get there. After driving around for 45mins we decided to try to leave and talk to a manager. Needless to say we never spoke to a manager. This place is poorly run and shows a pattern in many ways of incompetence. They need to work on customer service and communication between employees.

Service and experience have steadily gone downhill over the years. First off, if you come by boat you are charged $10 per person just to dock to go eat! The food has become disappointing and overpriced. The drinks as well are overpriced for what you get. Service is so so. On our last (and final visit) one of the cooks was on the side of the restaurant smoking and all his cigarette smoke was blowing right on to the patrons tables-he could have cared less! For the money, experience and food quality there are much better places on the lake to eat. We wont be back here!

If you visit Sunset Cove Beach Club, you MUST make it out to a Full Moon Party! Imagine live music, dancing, food, and drinks. Then add fire breathers, stilt walkers, fireworks, and magicians...all under a beautiful moonlit sky. Yup, its that serious. Its an amazing way to get out of the city and enjoy a little change of scenery. Keep in mind, though, that you have to pay $10 to get into Lake Lanier. And THEN you must also pay to enter Sunset Cove, like $15, I believe...thats a bummer. But I think the experience is worth it!

I was here for a boat ride. The place appears to be unlike any other. From what i could see, the grounds are beautiful during the day and evening. When we were leaving after the boat ride ended, the water park rides were still open and lit up for the night. Theres a man made beach where some people were watching a movie on the big screen outside. We did not get a chance to experience any of the amenities of Lake Lanier, but I intend on going back to do just that.

Hard to find the entrance. Beach is not yet groomed for summer and there are deep ruts from rain runoff. The band was good and made for a festive atmosphere. More chairs needed. Food in poolside bar and restaurant was quite good. Our table had kale salad, chicken wings, hush puppies and corn pups. Everything was hot and fresh. Its unclear what amenities are available with entrance to sunset cove. It needs to be clearly identified. Overall favorable.
