Should have gone to Thompson Bros. I found out about Heirloom Market BBQ today while watching Atlanta Eats. I found the address on Google and also read the reviews. Given the rating are almost 5 star, I convenience my husband to drive me there; through the storm; so we could try it for our dinner. My advice to all; stay clear of this place. Boy are we disappointed. Heirloom Market BBQ by far is the worse BBQ we have ever eaten in our life. I had the Brisket sandwich and my husband had the combo plate with ribs and sausage; with baked beans and Brunswick stew. There was no smoked taste to any of the meat at all. In fact, the taste was so strange, it didnt even taste like meat. Whatever we were eating, didnt taste fresh. The baked beans were not fully cooked, they were somewhat a bit undercooked; as if they tried to make them from scratch. We paid $26.00 for this uneatable food. Worse experience ever. As I said, we should have gone back to Thompson Brothers on Cobb Parkway in plaza next door to Olive Garden. There food at Thompson Bros. is of excellent quality and it is real BBQ, plus Thompson Bros. give you much, much more quality food for the same price; you can easily eat off it for 2-3 days. We just thought wed try something different and Heirloom Market BBQ is horribly different. Didnt think it would be a hole in the wall either but, it is. Dont see how they pass Health Dept. inspection; the appearance of this place inside is undesirable; I normally turn around and walk out of places that look like this. I normally dont write reviews but I really felt the need to share our experience. Was not worth the 20 min. drive to take the food back so we just chalked it up to experience and definitely wont eat there ever again.

I love BBQ and have experienced most of the good places in Atlanta. If you google BBQ and Atlanta you wont have to look far to see Heirloom Market mentioned. Much hyped as the best BBQ in Atlanta, Heirloom seems to blend Korean BBQ with other styles for an innovative and original approach. When I visited I found the pork a little dry and the sides just OK. However, the people I was with loved it. When I taste BBQ I always pay more attention to how theyve smoked the meat and the meat itself rather than just the sauce and this probably sways my review against many peoples opinion. The sauce here is good and I think most people are pretty happy with ok pork and good sauce. I also dont like the location at all. Full disclosure, I find it awkward to get to and dislike the area in general. The parking was a pain in the you know what and it we had to compete with everybody else to find a slot at the way too small dining area. I throw Heirloom firmly in the "trendy and over hyped" category. I must give them their due for trying to be different and not just your standard BBQ shack but thats about it. There are much better options for BBQ in the Atlanta area.

Fantastic food. I visited here after it being recommended by a friend. The food warrants 5 stars without a doubt. I had a brisket sandwich with fries. My buddy had the Korean BBQ beans and Brunswick stew. I tried his food as well and it was awesome. I had the sweet jasmine tea. Good. I would have preferred some good southern sugary tea to wash down that brisket. Now on to location... The parking was a nightmare but we did go right at noon lunchtime peak hour, the line wrapped around the side of the building where people stand and eat. GA in June... Hot wait. Once we got in, ordering was a snap and food came out quickly. We went outside and ate. Aside from the heat, pretty cool atmosphere outside. I will be coming back. The location should absolutely not deter you from the treating your taste buds to the slight slices of meat heaven provided by heirloom. 5 stars all day

I went here on the recommendation from a co-worker. I had never heard of it, and didnt know exactly where it was. I am VERY glad I made the trip to try it out. Everything I have had (basically the whole menu) is amazing. The taste is truly unique and isnt thick or overpowering like most BBQ places in the south. I would say it is more of a sweet and light flavor than a tangy and thick flavor. The brisket is AMAZING. I never liked brisket, but this place has changed my mind. I only buy it from here because it falls apart when you bring a fork near it! Also, I would highly recommend their mac and cheese. Really though, you cant go wrong with anything you get here. The best deal in town is their 2 meat and 1 side platter. It is definitely worth every second of the trip to get there and every penny to buy the food. What are you waiting for? GET THERE NOW!

Wow, this was such a disappointment, considering how much hype this place has. I had the pulled pork platter (not the Korean version) and although the sides were great (beans and mac & cheese) the pork was very unimpressive. It was dry, didnt have much of a smoke ring, no smoky flavor, very little bark, and didnt come close to living up to the hype. The other thing that was really annoying was the location where they kept the sauces. The restaurant is super small, which is fine, but they keep all the sauces on a rack by the window - you cant get to them because thats where everyone waits for their food, and it was packed! Im not usually a sauce guy, but because of how dry the pork was, I was hoping to try some. Id consider trying Heirloom one more time if I was in the area, but Id never drive 30 minutes again just to give them a shot.

Throughout my years of trying Atlanta BBQ, Ive learned one thing. If someone says their favorite BBQ spot in Atlanta is someplace other than Heirloom Market, theres a 90% chance they have never tried Heirloom Market. People looking for traditional Q, can still be satisfied. And those looking to try something different, are equally as pleased with the Korean flair on a few of the dishes. Texas BBQ mixed with Georgia BBQ mixed with Korean BBQ. What could go wrong? My personal favorites are the Ribs, Korean Pork Sandwich, Mac N Cheese, Collards, and Onion Rings. The Georgia Sampler is also a good choice if you want to try a little of everything with some friends. Do yourself a favor and deal with the outdoor seating, long lines, nontraditional setting, and difficult parking lot, it is 100% worth it for any BBQ lover.

hole in the wall making a name for itself. Tried the Brisket, chicken, brunswick stew, cole slaw, collards, mac and cheese and the wings. ALL WERE GREAT! the collards had a little bit of a kick, loved it. the mac and cheese was not overly cheesy, but not dry either, just right. loved. the cole slaw was great, considering I am picky, it was not heavy on the mayo or whatever the base was, it was awesome. loved it. I dont like wings, BUT i REALLY liked theirs, my husband made me try his and i reluctantly did. they were great, decent amount of meat, not greasy and not dripping in some corn syrup sauce. they are a little spicy, but so good. Tender, yum. Brisket, wonderful as well as the chicken. Liked it so much we got it again the next weekend for a small gathering and there were no leftovers!! way to go Heirloom.
