My family and I have been regulars here. Each time, my mom and dad would be on a separate ticket from my husband and I while we all sit at one table. We also had 2 separate Pancake House coupons we would use for ourselves since were paying separately as couples. One coupon for my mom and dad. One coupon for my husband and I. No problem, weve done it every time. Halfway through ordering our drinks, the waitress had abruptly said we couldnt use our coupons together. "Well yes, maam, we understand we cant use them together. That is why we always use them separate." "That has never been our policy here." "That cant be true because weve always done this." The waitress then went to grab her manager before she even finished taking our order, nor had we even asked her to bring the manager. It was an incredible inconvenience. 15 minutes after (we didnt even receive our drinks yet) the manager arrives to tell us it is limited one coupon per table...theyve never told us that before, in fact, weve used our coupons every time with no issue. Neither do any of the coupons say, "limit one per table" which we had said. He then replied saying we couldnt combine offers...excuse me, but how are we "combining offers" when we are on two separate tickets? That doesnt make sense. Are you saying, in order to honor our coupons, one of us needs to sit at a separate table? That is truly the most ridiculous thing Ive ever heard. We have never had a problem with Pancake Houses consistently delicious food and good service so it had really upset us, after eating and spending so much money and time here for so long, that something like this would ever happen. The coupons do not say "limit one per table" and you absolutely should have the right to use Pancake House coupons separetly with your family as fellow guests. That is why they have them. Pancake Houses management is the perfect example of false advertisement. It was just a lie after lie after lie and for what? Long story short, the manager is ignorant and clearly has a lack of professionalism and knowledge in the restaurant industry. He needs to be further educated in his career in order to run the restaurant more efficiently and also needs to understand the guidelines of actual restaurant policy. False advertising is the wrong direction to go and, as far as educating himself? Good service is a good place to start.

I brought my two daughters to this place this past weekend. As we love pancakes, and I had read good reviews about this place, we were very excited to try it for the first time. We arrived early on a Sunday morning, before 9am, so the place was not yet busy. Yet, we were seated at a table right by the kitchen opening, at the least desirable table in the house. The service was ok, though as they got busy, it seamed as if we were forgotten. A few things turned me off about this place. 1) I received a cup of coffee filled to the brim. I asked the waitress to pour a bit out so that I can have room to add my creamer and sugar. She brought back a cup with a bit more than half. After Ive had a few sips, a while later, she returned and asked if I wanted more coffee. I said "yes, perhaps a hot squirt would be nice." Indeed, I received a squirt, which was fine by me. What was not fine, was that when the bill came, I was charged for two cups of coffee!! I ordered a mushroom omelet at $12.95. I added diced ham and spinach, and later realized a few added diced ham cost me $2.15. The spinach - another $2.15! An almost $18 omelet! And to top it all off. I asked for a few sprinkles of chocolate chips on my kids pancakes (the menu showed $.95 for the side of chocolate chip). When I got my bill, the 12-15 bits of chocolate chips cost 1.95!! Really, it is not so much about the dollar amounts - its about nickeling and diming, that just gave me a bad taste from this visit. I had watched a few videos about this place where the owner or manager talked about community, and how he loves meeting all the restaurant guests. Based on where we were seated, the owner or manager was frequently right by our table, a few times, I was obviously searching for our waitress, and he saw this....not once did you he bother with a "is there anything I can help you with," or "is everything ok?" Im a customer service and customer experience oriented person, my experience at the Original Pancake House on Windward, is not one that will bring me back there with my family.

Average-tasting food for above-average prices. They do claim to use more natural ingredients and cooking methods, which I praise their efforts, however I still think their menu is marked up beyond reason for what you get. You can spend more than $11 on one small plate of pancakes with no sides (meat, eggs, anything). Cmon guys, eggs dont cost a thing for big restaurants. Include them with meals. If you want some on the side, expect to pay $3 or more. The food isnt worth spending nearly $40 for two people every time we go in. I think theyre a little big for their britches - the outdated clip-art filled information sheets at every table snottily proclaim "We do not serve grape jelly. If you are looking for grape jelly, you have come to the wrong restaurant." Give me a break. Also, their side items menu can be quite overpriced as well. OJ is $3-something for a small glass (fresh-squeezed) and you cant taste the difference. They justify the juice prices by noting theyre freshly squeezed, but how does that justify the higher prices on the non-freshly squeezed juices? Service is usually acceptable to bordering on poor (no personalities, just put your food in front of you and bring you the check)....never exceptional, in my experience, although the hostesses are usually polite. The facility strikes me as outdated and shabby for as hoity-toity as they like to fancy themselves being. Last time I was there, I saw an employee sitting his butt and one foot on a counter where food was being prepared, and employees mixing old sugar from tables with new sugar, and that was it for me. Tired of wasting my money here. Ill just make the same stuff at home. Not impressed. (I do recommend the blueberry waffles, for what its worth.)

Ive eaten at The Original Pancake House numerous times all over the country. I really like the store in Long Beach, CA. Ive eaten in Portland, and Jacksonville, and Decatur, and now in Alpharetta. The problem is the prices were an absolute shock. $15 for a ham and cheese omelette. Are you kidding me? I can go to the one in Decatur and get it for less than $10. The cheapest thing on the menu was $10. Its almost like going to McDonalds and ordering a happy meal that everywhere else costs $3, and them hitting you up for $6. Its a shock. I dont care if the owner pays a higher rent for his building in Alpharetta. I cant stand being gouged. I can eat cheaper at the Ritz which is saying something. I spent $22 by myself for breakfast and that just doesnt make any sense, I cant justify it when I know in almost every other location the prices dont even approach this level. Go to the Original Pancake House in Decatur. The food is awesome and you wont feel ripped off. If youre in Alpharetta, just go to Cracker Barrel, its walking distance away and your bank account will thank you for it. I will never be back to THIS location again, although I will always eat at the stores when possible as quite often the food is exquisite.
