**Food Poisoning Alert** Yesterday, 9/30/16, was only my 4th time at 717. I had never been SUPER impressed, but always satisfied, and never disappointed by there food/service. Living social had a deal on their site, so my girlfriend and I decided to go for her first time for a dinner/movie date night. Worst mistake we made. Service was very good. Waitress was attentive and nice. But unfortunately the food was not so kind. We shared the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. I cant believe im saying this, but it was overly cheesy, and I LOVE cheese. They were also way, WAY too salty. I ordered the Szechwan Duck Breast per our waitress suggestion. I ordered my duck medium, it came out well done. The roasted vegetable medley was all cauliflower and was ridiculously over seasoned and salty. There were HUGE salt rock crystals all over them. Couldnt even eat them. I ate half the duck & sweet potato jalapeño mash becuase I was starving and we didnt have time to wait for another meal. I showed the waitress, she agreed with me about my meal. The manager only offered 50% off, but when I refused that offer, I did get the entire meal taken off. However that was the least of our problems. My girlfriend ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with sauteed shrimp, sauteed spinach, a tomato butter sauce, and subbed the grits for purple potato mash. She was very pleased with the flavor of her dish, but for the $39 market price, we were both very disappointed in the serving size of the sea bass. We frequent Watercolors in Clearwater so are no stranger to quality fish, at MP, and what a good serving size is. I wish that was our only concern though. I am writing this the next morning as my girlfriend is still extremely sick in bed after being up the entire night with the worst case of food poisioning I have EVER seen. Im not sure what it was on her plate that made her sick, but something DEFINITELY did. She had only drank a meal replacement juice in the morning that day, so it was easy to determine the cause. Nothing makes you feel more helpless than to watch the one you love VIOLENTLY sick while you can do nothing but get them ice cubes and rub their back to try your best to comfort them. Obvioulsy I know something like this is NEVER intentional, but it still would make anyone extremely angry. Needless to say we are NEVER going back there. I know most have very postive reviews about their food, but after our experience, just the mental aspect alone of knowing what we went through makes it extremely difficult to ever consider giving them another chance. Obviously, I can not, and will NOT, ever recommend them.

Disappointing! My boss got me a gift card to S717 as a wedding present. Reservation was made for us well before the big day. However, me and my new husband were a bit behind, so I called to let them know. They had no idea who I was! OK, the girl from work that made the reservation called there and they apologized and said they would seat us as soon as we get there. So we get there and they said itll be just a minute. So we go to the bar, have a drink and we wait and wait and wait. After a while, we asked again! They forgot about us, again. I mean, I was a hostess for many years, but cmon. Newlyweds special night, twice forgotten, unbelievable! They finally did seat us, after waiting for almost 1.5 hours... Had I not have that GC, I would have walked out. We had some steak, lamb and something else (I think veal). Mediocre food at most, tiny portions. They did not comp us anything at all, barely apologized. Will not come back again!

Came in to use our Groupon. We were greeted right away and seated immediately (we had a reservation, but it wasnt too crowded). The service was friendly, and our waiter was patient as we interrogated him on the best menu choices. My fiance ordered the Chilean sea bass, and I ordered the salmon. We received very generous portions, and both meals were incredible. The sea bass melted in our mouths, and the salmon was so flavorful. Intimate atmosphere with interesting art and decor. Much roomier on the inside than it looks from the outside. Also has a full bar area if youre just looking for drinks and small plates. Great date night spot, and there is also a sectioned-off room for business meetings and private parties. Will be back in the future to try more of the menu.

I went to this restaurant for a group birthday dinner of 24 people. We placed a reservation for 8:30 pm and when we arrived at 8:15 we stood up for 37 minutes. Went we got to the table eventually, we were never offered anything. We eventually asked for the complimentary bread and I was advised that it is not given unless every person of the party orders an entrée. Mind you now that this a party of more than 8 and we are about to spend a great amount of money between food and drinks. I really did not like my two waitresses we had and they ruined the evening for me and the birthday guest. Please do not waste your time. I will say the food is good but the service is below average. Will never go back.

we came here for a special occasion, and lets just say it was quite special... our party of four all suffered from severe gastrointestinal problems for at least a week after the meal here. I had to get special pills from my doctor for the food poisoning. I know it was this restaurant, because the only thing I kept throwing up over the next 2 weeks was 717s "menu". the manager/owner apologized profusely, but that really didnt help considering that I was almost dying. he also promised to not charge us but proceeded to do so anyway. thanks a lot 717... you are the worst restaurant in the planet.

Wow, we were so happy to find 717 South! We were in Tampa for the weekend (from Palm Beach County), which included our Anniversary, and I used my phone to find a local restaurant that wasnt one of the high-end chains. We had a wonderful experience, a booth toward the back, quiet and almost private, our server, Michael, was terrific, and our meals were perfect. This restaurant offers great value for the meals, drinks and service. Both thumbs up! They do accept reservations even though we didnt have one (we went fairly early) and theres even parking.

Reservations were for 6 people at 7:15PM Friday Aug 21st. We arrived promptly at 7:15Pm and were quickly seated. Drink service was slow but not terrible. Appetizers arrived in the appropriate time. We then waited well over an hour for our entrees which did not arrive until 9:15PM. Duck breast was ordered medium well, arrived rare. Pork Delmonico arrived so overdone it was like shoe leather. The excuse was they were working on a new menu. Not sure what that had to do with over/undercooking the food. Very disappointed. Noisy. Stay away.

Enjoyed a delicious Sunday dinner at this gracious and upscale restaurant. Our server, Lindsey, was very friendly, efficient, and helpful. Spouse ordered the scrumptious macadamia encrusted chicken breast, accompanied by sweet potato puree and fresh steamed broccoli. I selected the pork chop which was cooked perfectly medium-rare and served with a medely of zucchini and carrots. Entrees were preceded by the house-made garlic bread and marinara sauce. This was our third visit to 717 and weve never been disappointed.
