Food poisoning!!! Unfortunately, we had a bad experience. Service was alright, and the eggs benedict were okay but underwhelming, but my wife had the cream chipped beef and it tasted off. She asked me to try it and I agreed it was a little strange but she ate half of it before she decided it was too weird. Fifteen minutes after leaving the restaurant, she was sick from the meal, and she took the day to recover. She called the restaurant to warn them something was wrong but they blew her off. This could have been handled professionally but they didnt seem to care about the situation or express concern for their customers or reputation. As a former manager of a restaurant, I know you have to take these situations seriously and try to address them to prevent recurrence and listen to your customers. Very disappointing. We will not be going back on our future visits to Sanibel Island. We can save money and make a better breakfast at home that wont make us sick.

Went In here in July it was busy so we assumed that it was friendly and had great food. It was horrible every way that you can imagine. The customer service is awful and the food taste horrible. My first time in Florida and they made it a awful experience and will not return to this restaurant. My grandmother said to the waitress that the coffee was awful and when she was walked away she said to her co worker to just shoot her because of people complaining. I personally did not eat my food it was disgusting and still had to pay. Thanks a lot of making some of my vacation a bad experience. Do not go here save yourself a bad experience and your taste buds

First time here, waiting time per hostess 25-30 min for breakfast at 9am,,,20 min later we were sat down and ready to order. Place is really busy but service pretty quick. Our waitress didnt say her name , didnt ask if this was our first time at the restaurant, neither told us the specials of the day. I have to ask another waitress for coffee refill...food was good, I had the Denver omelette and it was freshly made and moist...the potatoes were really good too. The homemade strawberry preserve (comes with the meal) is a good marketing strategy since.you can buy it there. My husband had the cheese omelette and it was nothing special but good.

My family has been coming here for years and we have always enjoyed the Lighthouse Cafe but this time was different. I ordered the Granola Nut Whole Wheat Hot Cakes with strawberries instead of bananas. While the food was still good, the service was horrible even though the place was significantly less busy than normal. We were seated and had our drink order taken by someone who did not appear that have any desire to be working at the Cafe. The other wait staff was also unattentive and simply appeared to want to rush us out the door.

Ive been to Sanibel since I was young. Hmmmm 40+years? This is the one place that has really stayed the same. The food is fantastic, they remember us by name and the restaurant has stayed in the family. Yes, plan ahead. There will probably be a wait. Nice shops next door while you wait if you have to. You will hear your name called. I would not miss a stop here for breakfast when on Sanibel. And yes, they have my Wisconsin lighthouse photo contribution on the wall. LOVE IT!

The food was pretty good (as far as my sister and mother said). We went for lunch but were told later by someone on the island that we should have had the breakfast. We had quite quick service and its got a fun atmosphere. I didnt care for the turkey broccoli cheese sandwich but thats because I didnt read the part of the description that said it had mushrooms on it. My sister loved that sandwich and Mom loved her seafood sandwich (she said it had REAL scallops on it).

Watch it... They add the tip on the bill (as a courtesy). And when I charged it on my VISA, they didnt stop me from tipping again! Got hosed! Didnt realize until we got home. Wont happen again... They should have advised me that they had already bumped up the bill 15% but they didnt. It was the owner at the til. He knew it and he didnt say anything!

After multiple recommendations to the Lighthouse; my family decided to try it. It was just ok and very bland. I got a stack of pancakes and my husband got french toast; we split it with our kids, and our bill was $40! A little pricey for breakfast in my opinion! The staff was very cordial and friendly; but I dont think well return :(

Heard they have the worlds best breakfast...had the whole wheat pancakes but they left something to be desired. Overeasy eggs were as close to raw as you can get. Another diner got the granola pancakes...dont. They just come with oats mixed in, no nuts, no fruit. Overeasy Cafe was much more delicious, wont be going back.

My husband and I have dinner at least once a week all winter. The food is very good and consistant. In addition to the regular menu they have several nightly specials that are very interesting and creative. They also have a nice selection of wine and beer. Service is friendly and the call ahead for seating works well.

Currently sitting at the cafe and I have to say that the food is very disappointing. For the price, I would recommend going somewhere else. We would have made a far better choice by going to the nearby DQ. Managers should change their menu because their lunch menu is a serious let-down.

History, great food, friendly service. Hard to ask for more. The Lighthouse Cafe on Sanibel is a solid piece of island history that backs it up with truly great food. Randy Whites fictional character Doc Ford may dump bad dates there, but at least theyll get a great breakfast !

Every year, I go down to Sanibel Island, and every year, on the last morning, we eat breakfast at the Lighthouse Cafe, ever since i was a little girl. They have, without a doubt, the BEST pancakes I have ever had!!! It was an extremely long wait, but worth every second!!!
