We have been on the island for a week and come every year. Traders was one of the few restaurants we had yet to try. We arrived a little late, about 40 minutes before 9:00 but there were still plenty of people in the dining room and the door said open until 9:00pm. Walking in, the hostess didnt give us the choice of sitting in the dining room. She sat our party of 4 at a small table in the corner of the bar. Our waitress, whom I would name if she had told us, asked us if we were ready to order 4 different times in the first 5 minutes of being there. She then informed us she is only asking so much do that she doesnt have to tell us they are closing the kitchen on us. She was very abrasive and rude and the service went downhill from there. She was very awkward and made us feel very uncomfortable being there. She hovered over the table at times creating an awkward experience. The food was very good but once again, when it came time to pay, the waitresss attitude was unbearable. After asking to speak to a manager, her attitude got very snotty and she informed us Traders does not have a manager and that the staff runs the restaurant. After talking to the chef he informed me to call the owner the next morning, which I intend on doing. Its a shame, with a better staff, this restaurant would have been great. By far the worst restaurant experience I have had on Sanibel Island.

We spent the day at Sanibel island. We stopped by Traders to shop in their gift shop and have some dinner. When we pulled in the parking lot was completely empty and my husband actually went to the door to see if they were open. While the gift shop clerk was extremely friendly I unfortunately cant say the same about the extremely rude hostess. We attempted to put our names in to be seated but were told she simply didnt have a table available (keep in mind, empty parking lot, empty tables) while the bartender and the waitress were quick to step up and offer assistance we decided to take our business elsewhere. Completely rude dark headed hostess. I would pick zero stars if it was an option and would never recommend this establishment to anyone. #poorlyran

In a last minute decision on our Naples trip, we detoured onto Sanibel Island (which was wonderful). What surprised us all (the three of us) was the dinner we had at Traders. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, but the food was outstanding. Definitely try the Chefs Specials - whatever they are - the main entrée of Sea Bass with an avocado coulee was a perfect compliment to the melt-in-your-mouth dish and the Chocolate Bread Pudding was a shock to all of us on how amazing it was. The whole staff from the hostess to the waiter (Kyle) were friendly, welcoming, and unpretentious. We will be making a return trip back to Sanibel Island next year, and our first meal (and probably many) will be at Traders. Already looking forward to the meal.

I liked their Ribs, others did not think the fish was that great. The service (food) was slow, though I was not in a hurry, and they gave us the last round of drinks for free (I would have ordered one if I had known). The waiter recommended the fish specials, but my sister and nephew did not like theirs (both different). My brother-in-law liked his ribs as well. I liked the piano player who did vocals as well. I liked Timbers much more (as did everyone else) , and Doc Fords just as much (others liked it more but not as much as Timbers). We went to Crocs at the Sundial Resort where we stayed for lunch everyday. It was good.

Awful. Dont go there if you have a food alergy. When I informed the waitress she told me I could have very little to eat there. I chose the scallop and lobster ravioli at her suggestion. She came back to say I couldnt have the lobster ravioli and would substitute extra pasta. When I asked if I could have additional scallops she told me that it would be to expensive for them to do such a thing. WHAT. She even went to talk to the manager Who didnt bother to come to our table. This turned out to be a very overpriced meal. Substituting pasta for lobster ravioli just doesnt seem to cut it for me.

So it look like a fun exciting place from the road the menu was very limited we were looking for a fun place that could have a hamburger after seeing the expensive menu we decided to keep it light then we could maybe go for ice cream before the sunset somewhere added 4 shrimp two our Caesar salad And then ended up being just as expensive as the half rib platter with the mashed potatoes! However we did love the gift shop but the rest of the place seemed a little too upscale for us. What happened to Sanibel Island anyhow we couldnt find the shops or the bike rentals we remembered.

We wanted to try this restaurant during our stay in Sanibel Island since it had good reviews. When we arrived they sat us next to the bar even though we had a three year old with us. The pick De Gallo with shrimp and crab was amazing bit my half rack of ribs were over cooked as well as the kids cheeseburger. Im giving it a 3 star because the waitress asked my 3 year old to lower his iPad while the table next to is were talking loud and laughing loudly but my toddler was the problem. They were not very family friendly.

Went to dinner at Traders for the first time earlier in the evening. Atmosphere looked fine, but menu was overly seafood focused. Ordered entrees and were fine but the Braised short rib special was not great. The short rib had too much grizzle and the special side of au gratin potatoes was brown or purple. I loved arguing with the waiter about the quality of food. Wont ever go back there and dont recommend trying it. I felt the menu was overpriced for the food quality and service.

Where do we start? The management is horrible. From the start we seemed to be an inconvenience. My son and niece were not welcome. The manager on duty is an absolute DOUCHE. The rudest TOOL Ive ever met. The food is not that good or worth the high prices and the service is slow. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Tables around us received their food first. The food was not seasoned and the pasta seemed to be frozen. It wasnt worth the toll prices to get there.

Im on vacation with my girlfriend, 9month old son, and close friend. The resturant seemed upscale very clean cut so I was worried about having my son. They actually made us feel very comfortable and the table cloth was paper which put me at ease for him making a mess. Our server was nice, the service great, and the atmosphere was calming also they had good drink specials. I suggest this resturant for anyone vacationing in Sanibel for a night out or family dinner.

Im glad I waited till my last night on the island to dine here. I would have never dined anywhere else and missed other great venues. The chef specials are the way to go. The assortment of offerings eclipsed the menus standards. Our waiter Jake was well versed on all items with the mere descriptiveness of ingredients creating savory expectations that were surely sated with our selections. This is a must experience on the island. The Chilean sea bass is delicious.
