Weve loved Whistle Stop for years now. Went tonight and ordered the Paleo Burger (a fun new addition since weve been to WS) and got a burger with a bun..what?! Inquired with the waitress if it was the paleo burger, and she replied, "yes!" I suggested that paleo doesnt mean a white bun and she looked at me and asked, "You didnt want a bun?" A little confused about the whole thing. The menu also suggested that this burger came with greens and veggies, but none of that was included. Im not sure if the waitress didnt know what she was doing, or if WS doesnt know what a paleo burger should be (and the menu was completely wrong).

I have lived down the street from this place for 9 years. I love the original Fried Green Tomatoes. My children often come for ice cream here and they always get generous portions with lots of sprinkles. The service is good and friendly. If youre looking to impress your friends go to Heilmanns Beachcomber, but if youre looking to chill out and relax, bring them here. Very much like a New York diner with a tropical twist. If youve never been to a New York diner, I cant begin to tell you about the home cooking and mamas kitchen atmosphere that youve been missing.

the food was decent. the calamari was bland and the fish and chips had some flavor, however the fish was too well done. the french fries were great. overall, the food was good accept for the calamari. also provides a good view of the trains, but can get very loud since it right next to the train tracks. we just saw a small csx train go by with only a locomotive and what looked like a coal car (i dont know my train cars very well) the train was quite loud. good atmosphere and food, just beware of the loud train horns.

This place is not the same anymore . They use to be good but not they are just getting worse. I use to order green fried tomatoes all the time and it doesnt taste the same anymore. They were covered in breading and they were in big slices. Now they give you 5 tiny slices that dont even taste like green fried tomatoes. Im very disappointed because I use to love this place so much and something happened to them. I recommend going next door to them. They serve the same food but it tastes much better.

We love the Whistle Stop! The environment is laid back and it is kid friendly. Miss Lorraine is always so sweet and welcoming. My go to is the duck flat bread and the ribeye sandwich although there are so many great items to choose from. The bar always has a good selection of craft beers and fresh cocktails. Service is normally fast and they let us order right away for the kids. Great outdoor place to have lunch or dinner. Dont forget the ice cream if you have room!

Cucumber drink was delish, fun spot right on the bike trail. I had the veggie hamburger bowl., ordered med., received well done- the zucchini/squash veggies soggy and overcooked soaked in oil., and 2 sm. Pieces of avacado. We also order the salmon burger which was very good, sweet potatoe fries soggy. Service was very slow., he was very busy, took a while to place our order & never came to check on our drinks or meals & we had to hunt him down to get our check...

Had pork tacos that were so dry that i had to send them back. They offered to fix them or let me pick something else. I let them fix it and they where okay. My wife had the fish tacos which were pretty dry too. She just didnt care to complain. The kids had a BBQ bacon burger and a BBQ sandwich which actually where pretty good. We had the southern sampler as an appetizer which was really good... that being the only reason they got a good rating for the food...

We had a party of four. Not being a very busy Friday night we wondered why the service was slow and the waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu as she couldnt answer accurately "Im not sure" rolled off her tongue numerous times. Not a bad menu but I thought it was kind of pricey. The meal was good we ordered a few appetizers and I had a burger. I like the outdoor patio seating comfortable for a çool late December night.

Food was very small portions. Dripping in grease. Fish was all batter, no fish. Burger was poor meet quality. Waitress said that this was the right portion size for the fish even though we ordered form the large plate section of the menu. The menu stated the fish was the fresh catch of the day. The waitress said it was cod. Pretty sure cod is not a drag catch in Florida. Would not visit again.

Charming restaurant/bar is mostly outdoor seating with some walls. The food is really great along with their wine, cocktail and craft beer selections. They have a few tvs in the bar that is always showing some kind of sport. Even though it is a family atmosphere it is usually pretty quiet even during peak times. They also have a smoking/dog friendly area off to the side!

Fast, friendly, and 100% delicious. Affordable too. I got a reservation for 7:30, came at 7:20 and was seated by 7:25. The flash fried calamari came in a flash, and the exact moment I finished that the signature whistle stop burger came by. Both were memorable and delectable, for an outdoor resturant its very pleasant and cool, atmosphere is delightful.

I love the ambience of this busy little restaurant! It was busy at noon today so we ate at the bar. 12 beers on draft and a wonderful menu. I had a veggie plate with beans and rice which was not only tasty but filling and my friend had a burger which he said was delicious. I like their use of fresh foods prepared creatively.

I wish they still offered banana shakes. They were the best! The Whistle Stop has been a staple of Safety Harbor for over 10 years now - great food and shakes! If youre hungry, try Nicks Beast of a Burger. Dont miss the fancy fried green tomatoes and the Buffalo cauliflower bites. Great craft beer selection as well.

The Whistle Stop is a very unique & family friendly restaurant in charming downtown Safety Harbor. We love taking guests here visiting from out of town & always have great food, drinks & service. The owner (Dawn) is amazing & goes above & beyond to make sure customers are happy. A Safety Harbor staple & must try!

Dont bother with the fruit/veggie/hummus plate - its bar fruit and celery. The same amount of fruit came out with a kids hotdog. Overcharge much? Blackened grouper was bland, smallest piece of grouper Ive had in FL. Beans and rice were bland. I dont understand why people like this place. Overhyped for sure.

Good cocktails and food. We always stop there before attending a show at Ruth Eckerd Hall for preshow grub. Fun drinks and great bites. I love the buffalo cauliflower and the brussel sprouts. And you cant go wrong with the blue crab cakes and key lime aioli, or the blackened grouper sandwich. Yum!

Nice neighborhood bar, close at 11pm. Menu options okay but pricey. Outdoor sitting is avaiable, clean and friendly place. Okay beer selection, place had a decent crowd. Servers were pleasant, t-shirts n jeans/shorts for servers uniforms verses the usual second skin look.
