Cest dommage. Javais beaucoup daffection pour ce lieu...

Second time here. The first time left an impression but this time got me hooked! Bolivar has become synonymous with South beach for me. I look forward to eating here with the same enthusiasm that I have for endless hours of lounging on the beach! As happening and fun as south beach can be, its just as easy to go terribly wrong with good. The plethora of mediocre establishments on ocean drive are testament to this fact. Bolivar springs up like an oasis of peruvian/Colombian deliciousness in this culinary desert. Both times Ive been have been for dinner. They start you off with an arepa appetizer served with an array of salsas, which always is on the house. Great way to make a good first impression. Although there is a range of delectable entrées on the menu, I was fascinated by the mixed tapas platter which will set you back about $40 for 7 items. In my opinion this is a total steal and can easily suffice 2 people. Every single thing on the tapas menu was a treat for the taste buds but a special mention to the yuca fries. Positively mind blowing. Others in our party got an assortment of soups and chicken entrées and everything was par excellence in taste as was as presentation. The place is so good that although we were stuffed after the meal, we had to try the dessert. We ordered one of their version of the tres leches to split between 3 of us. It ended up being so spectacular that we had to get another one! The waitstaff ate polite and helpful to a fault! The service, like the food was on point. A true gem in south beach, do yourself a favor and go check it out!

We were looking forward to our dinner at Bolivar since the restaurant has gotten great reviews and the menu looked intriguing. We were disappointed in every aspect of this restaurant experience. The staff was inexperienced and inattentive, the so-called half-price drinks at the bar turned out to be so expensive that they could well have been full-priced. Above all, the food was greasy, unimaginative and way overpriced. I had salmon that was smothered in a stew of onions and peppers that overpowered the taste of the fish. My husband ordered a whole fish that was accompanied by rice and was equally unimpressive. We left feeling that Bolivar was just another one of the over-priced tourist traps in Miami Beach that we usually succeed in avoiding. Too bad!

Great place to come for some good food before a night out. We came on a Saturday night and it was packed so we had to sit at the bar. They have live music, which added a nice fun touch to the scene and they sing a Venezuelan tambores song for all birthdays, which makes you want to jump out of your seat and dance. The food is mostly colombian and venezuelan dishes but they also have churrasco, picanha, and lomo salteado. Everything we ordered was so delicious: arepa de choclo, churrasco, bandeja paisa, ensalada andina, and to drink el libetador. My one complaint was the bartender took about 20 minutes to bring our checks. The place was so busy so I get it but Im giving 4 stars for now until Im able to come back.

We had our last dinner at Bolivar ! I loved the live music and their sangria, but the freshly made lemonade was just ridiculous ! Being that we were visiting Miami we needed to try some Peruvian food before heading back home! We ordered the 7 item platter for $33, amongst what was good was the Spicy Corn, yellow potato and the fried artichoke. The empanadas were okay to me and their desserts were not bad. I gave this place a 4 star mainly for the service! Great, and attentive staff , they were sweet enough to bring out 1 flute of champagne for our Bachelorette and brought out a mini band to sing for her! very sweet staff!

We had a late breakfast here.... My scrambled eggs, rice and beans, and arepa were very good. I added the columbian sausage for $2 bringing my meal which included cafe con leche and juice (delicious blackberry) to $12, which was reasonable and all was good quality and tasted good. The part that grossed me and my wife out were the re-used sauces brought out in a crusty tea light tray...the spoons had crusted sauce on them from the previous day and some of the sauces had crusted over and this was stirred in to look "fresh". Im sorry to say we would probably not waste our time or money on this restaurant again.

This restaurant is close to everything, and a welcomed the trip away from the tourist traps on Ocean Drive. The layout is great, has a cool bar, clean, and patio seating. The menu list the dishs country of origin and a very easy to understand description witch is supper helpful giving that this is one of my first experiences at a restaurant like this. The starters were incredible, we got the soup and the pick 2 option small plate, with 2 Beef Empanadas and Skirt Steak Strips. Theyve got great Sangria too! A stalk of raw sugar cane and some nutmeg really make it.

This is hands down one of the best restaurants in Miami Beach. The staff is friendly and their service is impeccable which is hard to find in South Beach. When you enter this place to feel like a warm hug and once you try their food you will be transported to a better place. Must try their ceviche platter and churrasco. Start with one of their lulo mojitos. They have live music which is almost a lost art in South Beach and just hang out for hours, they will not push you out like on other places. This is truly a family run restaurant with pride of what they serve.

Was taken here on the South Beach Culinary Tour. We were served a half Colombian beer/half Colombiana (soda). I thought it was wine at first, Im not really a girl that drinks a whole lot, so that tells you why I didnt know what it was or cared for it. But to those of you that enjoy beer, you might like that drink. We were also served a beef empanada (made with corn flour) and a swai ceviche with aji. The aji was very spicy! Just from that dish I would tell you to try this place, or La Ventana which is owned by the same person, apparently, according to our guide.
