Unfortunately I cant click negative one stars! If you have a peanut or nut allergy stay very far away! I ordered a pickup order of Tikka Misala. After taking one bite of the order my throat was on fire and started swelling and itching immediately. I called the establishment in panik to see if there were peanuts or nuts in the dish! The guy who claimed to be the manager said "no just cashews" and I said well thats a nut. He argued with me and said that I asked if there were peanuts not nuts. I told him that no where on the online menu does it state there are cashews in this dish. He said "oh well what do you want me to do about it." For starters seeing as I am deathly allergic to any type of nut it would be nice to apologize for the inconvenience and do something to resolve the issue as a manager. His response "well clearly youre not deathly allergic if you are talking to me...I mean come on youre not going to die." At this point I snap and we go back and forth while this supposed manager yells at me, curses and tells me if I want to file a lawsuit go ahead and "bring it". His exact words might I add. I hung up the phone in fury at how insensitive a person could be. A few moments later I called back and another person gets on the phone who says he is the manager and that the person I talked to earlier was not. At this point I am furiated might I add also driving to the hospital since I lost my Epi pen. The second person I spoke with was nicer and apologized for the service of the other person. Gave me a refund and I asked him to please update the online menu because others who are deathly allergic can die in a matter of minutes. This is nothing to take lightly. Luckily all I had was one bite and my reaction this time wasnt as bad as it couldve been. Lets hope this doesnt happen to anyone else with a nut/peanut allergy in the future. Save your money and go to India house. Much better service and respectful employees. Shouldnt have given this place a try at all! The food went in the garbage and I will make sure to let everyone my horrible experience. Luckily they had one person there who was able to resolve the situation however it did not make up for the previous horrible conversation unfortunately. I have never in my life had anyone from a food establishment speak to me the way I was spoken to during that original phone call. Absolutely absurd. Cant comment on the food because I never made it past the one bite. Stay far far away if you have a nut allergy!!!!

Gateway To Bathroom Toilet: Avoid Gateway To India! We ate at the lunch buffet yesterday, and we both got upset stomachs and the bathroom RUNS! The food caused diarrhea and painful bowels. It was so bad that on our way home from Gateway To India we had to stop to use a public bathroom. Gave us SHARP GAS PAINS and diarrhea for several hours after. It ruined the rest of our day. Besides causing diarrhea the food was poor and bland. Every dish tasted very similar, not much flavor or spice. Even the rice was too watery. The only taste was overuse of cilantro, as if the cap broke on each dish. I have had tastier and spicier plain bread. It was as if Golden Corral started serving bland Indian food. Very bland and Americanized. Not authentic Indian flavors. I love flavorful and spicy. I have been eating Indian food from various places for 20+ years. I had ate at Gateway To India 10 years ago. The food was way better then. It has changed. I would never eat here again. Avoid and save your money. Even with the 20% discount for cash, I feel ripped -off and would like a full-refund for my time wasted and the painful stomach suffering and diarrhea. I asked for refund and got no response from the manager.

The food is awesome, but everything else needs work. I frequent this Indian restaurant for their lunch buffet. It seems like they always have chicken tandori, chicken tikka marsala, a couple vegetarian dishes, rice, naan, and salad. The Indian market (Spices of India I think is the name?) located just two block east of the restaurant on same side of the road often has 50% off dinner and $1 dollar off the buffet coupons. If youre looking for a discount, stop by there first and look for the Gateway to India menus. The booths are in very poor condition and often leaning back on one will push the patrons sitting on the other side. Their tables are covered with glass tops that have nicks in them. If youre not careful its possible to cut yourself. The service is poor. Youll have to stand up and wave at the waiter if you want a refill on your coke. But to be honest Ive never gotten good service at any Indian restaurant. This place is worth a visit if you like Indian food.

Very disappointed! The pictures on the menu are very deceiving, what arrived at my door was nothing more than containers of slop! The rice tasted like plain white rice you buy at Walmart, it did not have the typical aroma of Indian basmati rice. As for the taste it was a mouthful of spicy hotness absolutely no flavor, bland, in fact my mouth is still on fire. The SPINACH (PALAK) SOUP Creamed spinach cooked in herbs and spices, what cream it was watered down spinach bland and over powered by ginger. The naan was more like sliced open pita bread. The BHINDI MASSALA Baby okra sautéed w/onions, garlic, ginger & pepper, no flavor, over spiced and too much ginger. Anyone interested in delicious, REAL authentic Indian cuisine I highly recommend Tamarind it is an amazing eating experience that will excite your taste buds and leave your tummy satisfied. Cooked by REAL Indian cooks.

I guess I have more experience than most in this area since I am Indian. I have tried out all of the restaurants in the Orlando and surrounding areas and this one is ranked close to the bottom of the lot. After the name change from Bombay Bistro (different owners and chefs), I thought I might give this place a shot. Never again. I went to the buffet and was thoroughly disappointed. The food was ultra bland and the service was puny. The price was mind blowing: $12.95!! That is ridiculous for what you get. Add in the $3.95 glass of lassi and you are just as well paying for 2 people. If I were you, I would definitely not waste my time, money, gas, and appetite. Go to any of the other Indian Cuisine restaurants at least 10 miles away from this one, for your own good at least.

My wife and I decided to give Gateway to India a try on her birthday -- and we were delighted! From the outside, the restaurant is not much to look at, but once inside you are enveloped in a wonderful Indian atmosphere complete with live Indian music, delicate incense, and exotic decor. The service is prompt, friendly, and very helpful with any questions you may have about the menu items. And the food ranks with the best weve had -- and we have much experience in this area. We tried the Tadka Dal (a yellow lentil dish), the Palak Paneer (spiced spinach with cheese), and Samosas (pastry filled with a nicely spiced mixture of potatoes and peas). All were delicious! Give this little gem a try -- highly recommended!
