Visited on 6/12/2015 Worst manager on duty - Nick. If youre Jewish, keep in mind that you might have to endure a purely antisemitic comment from Nick, if you dare to ask that the restaurant doors be closed because it was 90 degrees inside. Oh, and whatever you do, do not mention Facebook because that brings out a really bad side of Nick (the so called manager on duty). I have enjoyed this restaurant for many, many years and always make sure that anyone who visits from up North, gets to experience it. Both of my sons and I enjoy eating there and I crave their hamburgers at least once a month. After last night, Im afraid this favorite of mine will not be visited. Better to go to 101 Ocean (much nicer, customer friendly atmosphere). The serving staff was fantastic at the Village Grille & Pump, considering that they were sweltering because Nick would not let them close the front door (as it had been when my friend and I walked in). It became overbearingly hot. Five members of their staff came over to apologize to us for Nicks behavior and refusal to close the door against the late day heat here in South Florida. They were all fanning themselves. Whoever is monitoring their social media should be fired. Its really a shame that a company like The Village Grille & Pump House doesnt have someone decent monitoring their social media (or managing their restaurant). My post was removed. In todays day and age, it is hugely important that a company have someone customer service savvy enough doing the monitoring. Bad move on your part, Village Grille. You condone his comment to me about being from Boca? Your silence is speaking volumes. Stay away, especially if you live in South Florida year round, they apparently dont care about the local customers who sustain them when its off season.

We ordered our drinks. The server knew nothing about the wine or prices. When she finally brought the drinks out we asked for iced water. Twent minutes later she had still not returned to our table. I went up to the bar and got them myself. We both ordered soup, I ordered a dinner salad requesting iceberg lettuce; not soft dark greens. My husband had fish and chips. My french onion soup was a bowl of mushy bread. The black bean soup was nothing special. When our dinner came out the server said, "here is your salad, iceberg only". Yes it had the hearts of Palm but they were on top of a bunch of wilted green leaves! I found the manager. He told me that they dont even carry iceberg lettuce. I showed him my plate and he said he would take care of it. We never saw him again. We paid the bill, Noone ever took care of correcting dinner..we went back to our hotel. I promise you; if I took the time to write this tonight I was upset. I never did this before. Shame on them. Stay away from this restaurant. Dont waste your time or money.

We ordered mahi mahi that was on a special for $14 and lobster roll that is on regular menu for $18. We asked for a small salad instead of fries and colleslaw that come with the lobster roll, an for small salad instead of mashed potatoes that come with mahi. We were charged $24.50 for mahi and $22 for lobster roll and discovered it after adding $12 tip for a waitress that was nice and friendly. After we complained, we were told that we were charged $2.50 extra on each entree for substitute salad. It still did not add up. They lowered the total some, and we did not leave any tip. We both have restaurant experience and know it is quite OK to advise your customers that subs will cost extra and leave it to them to decide if they want to pay. They must think that people who eat there are stupid...We are only sorry that waitress did not make any tip, she was nice and polite. The food was good, with exception of boring veggies they use in their sides and salads. But we left with a foul taste in our mouths.

Usually a very good place for breakfast except on our last visit. The food was fine. We wanted pancakes and they were very good. Very well-prepared eggs and delicious sausage. It was a beautiful day so we opted to eat outside...The service unfortunately was not as good as the food. First, the champagne splits for mimosas were delivered without orange juice. We requested both jelly and sugar-free syrup for our pancakes. After waiting 5 minutes after the meal was brought to us, we had to go inside to remind them that we needed the syrup and jelly. After the check was delivered, we also had to go inside to pay because the waiter never returned to our table. Wrote a note on the check about the service. Mentioned it to the hostess as we left. She smiled but seemed indifferent. Weve had breakfast here more than a few times. This was our first unpleasant experience.

Manager was kind of rude. Showed attitude and reluctance to serve us because we walked up to the "open" outside patio as we left the beach. Because on the side door it says we needed shoes and shirts to go inside. But what the sign didnt mention was, you had to be seated by a host. Clearly if thats the rules, I believe there should be a sign. I literally watched them send other people away because of this same reason. I, however, refused to allow this. He he intentionally argued with the house because she wouldnt tell us to move, so he tried and failed. Host and Server were outstanding though and food was actually great. I recommend the punch drink and the buffalo chicken flatbread. If not for the manager. They could have got 5 stars.

WONT recommend or go back to this restaurant!! Me and my girl when for a date and we decided to try this restaurant for the first time and the service SUCKS!!!! And another thing BECAREFUL BECAUSE THE MANAGER AND WAITERS HAVE SOMETHING GOING ON WITH THE CREDIT CARD MACHINE THAT THEY TELL YOU THAT YOUR CARD DIDNT GO THRU SO THAT YOU HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE TO WITHDRAW MONEY FROM THE ATM MACHINE THATS INSIDE... THE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT MY CREDIT CARD WASNT WORKING. So I logging my mobile account to see if my credit card had a fraud or something and it was perfectly FINE!!!! So the manager forced me to withdraw the money from the ATM because that was the only credit card I had on ME... "manager must be taking cash home or something " lol

This is my choice of restaurant when I go to Lauderdale-by-the-sea. The portions are ideal, the prices are better than those competitors for the quality of the food, and the darkened (at night) seating is what I enjoy. The walls facing the street are glass which provides a favorable view from the inside of the restaurant. All around, a good place to eat in general, and the best in the Lauderdale-by-the-sea area. Most waiters/waitresses were great, aside from one rude waiter that I had the unfortunate experience of being served by. He probably thought we were not going to tip. Due to his service though, he proved himself partially correct--- he did not receive much.
