I travel a lot for work and dine out a lot, so my dining experiences run the gamut of good and bad. When I came to Cru, everything was just right! You can tell when a lot of care and work is put into creating the ultimate dining experience: At Cru, the food is wonderfully tasty to say the least, the ambiance has vibrant club music, it is hip, yet unpretentious. The down to earth staff such as Tim, make the place lively and the entire waitstaff really catered to each of our particular preferences. The Spicy crab roll was DELICIOUS! Chef Shannon Yates makes his way to all the patrons and makes everyone feel welcome- he really does make the place feel like home. Talking with other patrons at the bar, I discovered so many people have been going to Cru regularly for years! No wonder, the place is fantastic!! You will leave with a big smile on your face from such wonderful food and service! I would love to clone this restaurant/bar and bring it to New York City, where I live.

My lady and I had dinner here on 04/08/2017 and were absolutely displeased with not only the lack of service, but the food was overcooked, way, way over priced, and such small portions that we left hungry! I had the steak, slightly larger than a hard boiled egg and taste like cardboard as there was not even a hint of it being seasoned prior to or during it being overcooked, and was served french fries as a side?? No salad, no veggies, no nothing but fries... terrible presentation. My lady had a ceaser salad which was a smaller than your hand piece or three of lettuce without as much as one single crouton or much of anything. $50.00 will never be spent again at this restaurant, especially when the wait staff and dining room manager refused to even consider our displeasure with a discounted ticket or something... Nothing but lip service... consumer beware!!! Kevin and Gina S.

First time visiting, and probably last time too. It was all wrong from the get-go. It was only the other night at the bell tower open house, and boy do we wish wed gone to Bistro 41 instead. The waitress was almost condescending when we ordered. I thought the food was over priced for starters, mine tasted good, but the presentation was not great, considering the price. It looked like the fries had been thrown on the plate, and were swimming around in au jour. But the biggest hit was being charged $15 for water!!!! Give me a break, it might come in fancy bottles, but you can buy the same ones at World Market for $4.00 a piece, and she just kept bringing them too, ended up paying $45.00 for water!!!!! What a joke... never again, I love a good night out, but value for money is a must, and Cru did not deliver that.

Granted, this is only our second trip to Cru, but it will most definitely not be our last as my mouth is already watering just thinking about my next visit. Our server, Becky, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and more than happy to make a recommendation or two based on our questions and asking for her thoughts. The food, well to put it quite simply, it all speaks for itself and we found it once again to be absolutely amazing and feel that they have once again out done themselves. Every bite had an explosion of flavor and every detail within the food was accounted for...right down to the exquisite and flavorful roasted garlic mashed potatoes. As I said earlier, we will definitely be back for more. It is a must have for anyone that appreciates fine food and a fun atmosphere in SWFL.

I went to CRU last night for a very romantic evening and was extremely impressed from the minute I walked in the door. There must have been five or six employees that said hello to us as we were escorted to our table including two of the cooks. Chris was our waiter. We requested him after hearing about the quality of his service. Do me a favor. If you eat at this restaurant, request Chris. He was fantastic. Probably the best server that I have ever had. The food was delicious and the booth with a private curtain provided a great touch of privacy. Since this is a review, the only downfall was that it was abnormally warm, probably 78 degrees. We didnt ask them to change it so I cant really complain that much. Other than that, the night was perfect. Will definitely be back!!!

There is a pungent dirty dish rag / bleach smell right when you walk in. The food is really good. Spicy crab rolls are the best. I dont normally go and write reviews but what prompted this review was my last experience. Saturday 10/24/15 we ordered a bottle of wine with our dinner. On the menu is an Cab from Argentina "Tomero" specifically a 2012 bottle for $45.00. We did not notice the server brought us 2013 bottle and what made us notice was the bill. On the bill was a charge of $49.00. I looked at the bottle thinking the server might have given us the wrong bottle. When we brought this up to the manager all he did was reduce our bill for 4 dollars. It just makes me wonder if you order by the glass are you really getting what you are being charged for.

New trendy fusion/eclectic restaurant in the Bell Towers mall. We heard that it had a great tapas bar and decided to try that before going to the main restaurant. We never made it into the main restaurant. The offerings were great. The Tuna Tartare with Szechuan Slaw & Wasabi Aioli was very tasty. (They were not stingy on the tuna tartare.) We then tried Baked Brie w/ Braised Brussel Sprouts with Truffle Honey & Balsamic which was well prepared. A big surprise was the Dynamite Scallops. It had a Blue Crab Topping and Chipotle "Dynamite" Sauce. We finished up with a Pork and Tomato ‘Slaw Taco. Cru has a very big wine list. I had a nice cabernet and my enjoyed her pinot grigio. Our server, Ariel, was attentive and helpful with making choices.

I honestly will never go there again. I was invited to work dinner months ago. When I ordered my steak well done I was told by a very rude waitress that the steak could only be cooked med. I explained to her that I dont eat my steak like that and then I was told "Well pick something else" I then ordered the chicken which looked unappetizing so I did not eat it at all. The waitress was rude and not nice at all. I called the next day and spoke to a manager about this and I was told they would have the GM or Owner (I cant remember) call me but I never got a call. I have been invited to dinners there since then but I always decline and let people know why I have no desire to go there.

We ordered 2 medium burgers and got 2 super well done burgers we told the waitress and she took mine off because right when I saw how overcooked it was I told her I didnt want it and we were in a rush so I didnt want to wait for another one to come. My moms was also extremely overlooked she had less than half and they did nothing to try to fix it or the service. Not even a manager came to check on us. The burgers also looked like they were terrible quality they were breaking and just looked disgusting. I dont think we will ever return
