On Friday Night, Nov. 21st we met several friends in the bar at Stockyard. My husband and I were the last to arrive and no seats left at the bar. Our friend Ralph (visiting from out of town) insisted I take his seat. He and my husband both in their mid 70s stood behind us . Plenty of drinks and tapas ordered. We were all eating and drinking (bartender did a pretty good job). My husband and friend Ralph stood behind us for at least 45 min. to an hour waiting for someone to leave so they could have a seat. Two people at the end finally left and my husband got one seat and I was going down to take the second seat so Ralph could have his seat back. The waitress walked up to my husband and told him he would have to move as she had promised the seat to another waiting couple. They were several years younger and I doubt they had been standing and waiting for an hour. My husband just got up and he and Ralph continued to stand until we left. I think this is a poor way to treat customers, especially older customers. I know our group spent a lot of money at the bar that night. A complaint was made by one friend about the incident to the manager. I might add we have been to the stockyard several times in the past as well as most of the friends we were with. We have found that the only way to be sure you get service is to sit at the bar. We were there one night three months ago. It was pouring rain. My husband let me out at the door and I was seated and my husband was coming in after parking the car. Because of the heavy rain he didnt come in until about 10 minutes later. I never received a menu and even was spoken too by a server. I might note they were not busy that night and only two or three booths in the dining room with customers. When my husband arrived, we sat there another five min. or more and he said "we are leaving"! I didnt want to go out in the heavy rain and I went to the hostess (male) and told him we had been waiting 15 or 20 min. and no one at out table to even give us a menu. We finally got a waitress that was not too happy to wait on us. The food we ordered was good. I ordered the fried shrimp with the special sauce they .indicated on the menu It was served with a ketchup sauce. We finally got the waitress attention and I asked for tartare sauce if they didnt have the sauce that was specified with the dish. All this must have taken 15 minutes. I had eaten all the shrimp except 2 or 3 when she arrived with the sauce and it was delicious. Why did it take so long!! They move at a snails pace. I cant believe they will stay in business for very much longer. Anyway, the incident above happened when we tried it again after three months away. I dont think we take that kind of torture again soon.

We took my 78 yr old Mother there for what would have been her & my Fathers 55th wedding anniversary if he hadnt passed earlier in the year. Granted we went on New Years eve, but we got there at 4:15, well before the party crowd. (they dont open until 4pm) Also there were only 5 of us. The maitre d asked if we had a reservation and when we said "No" and that we are only here for dinner, his entire attitude and demeanor changed! He totally treated us like he didnt want to be bothered. Once seated, it was several minutes before our waitress came to ask for our drink order, even much longer before our food order was taken. The entire meal, the only 2 at the table to get a drink refill were the 2 drinking water. The rest of us sat there with empty glasses. When the checks were brought to the table, the waitress placed each check in front of the lady in the party. She watched as my husband reached over me to take the check and he handed her his card. Same with my son and his wife. When she brought the checks back to be signed she put the in front of the women again! In conclusion, we will NEVER go back! The service was HORRIBLE, the food good at best, and they need to get a clue and offer smaller steaks at a smaller price. I agree $24.95 is not a bad price for a 16oz Ribeye, but why not offer a smaller cut for those of us who cant even put a dent in a 16oz steak?

Save the cash and go to Chilis! My husband and I visited yesterday for lunch, weve lived in Deland for over a year and just hadnt made it to this restaraunt, so we anticipated great food from the reviews. What a complete disappointment. The sweet tea was obviously not homemade but tasted like month old Nestea. We ordered fried cheese as an appetizer, which turned out to be just the frozen kind served from a food truck or fair booth. The rolls were also from frozen stock, they were hot on the outside and still cool in the middle. The chicken marsala was sad, runny sauce with very poor quality mushrooms, and previously frozen, soggy, chewy breaded chicken. My husband ordered the steak and cheese mac, which was supposed to have Monterey Jack and other cheeses. Turned out to be simply Velveeta cheese sauce. When it came out the noodles were dry and sticky and very clearly overcooked. The steak was fatty and the whole dish was just awful. My husband was very disappointed as his favorite meal is mac n cheese and they were supposed to be well known for the mac dishes. The whole experience was just a huge failure, and very overly priced. Our bill was over $50 for all frozen or boxed food that i could have made at home for $8. Nothing here is homemade.

Our first time a The Stockyard, will probably be our last. Our waitress was not well informed when asked questions as to substitutions. The spinach artichoke dip arrived cold enough that the cheese had turned to a cold slab on top.artichoke was taken out of its vinegar solution and not drained. Three soups ordered only two served, the third never showed up. The mimosa was flat and tasteless. When our food finally came our dinner mates plate was still cold as was his steak and mashed potatoes, it took 20 more minutes for is new plate to arrive. The only good thing about the meal was dessert, cheese cake and death by chocolate cake. The manager did listen to our complaints and said several times she was sorry and asked us to please come again so as she could make a better impression. That right now is a no, maybe in 6 months.

I have to say this use to be one of my favorite places to go with the family. However, after tonight I wont be back. Our waitress not only delayed putting our order in an hour after we arrived, she lied to our faces about it. She was too busy waiting on a practice rehearsal dinner party to worry about the party of 7. Thank you to the manager for taking care of our bill, however this is the 4th time I have brought in a party and this same waitress finds some way of messing up our orders. You would think with a 18% gratuity added to parties 6 or more she would be a little more attentive. Whats worse is now its after 10 PM, my kids havent eaten except for the appetizers we ordered and everything else is closed. Hope the manager charged the wedding party or the waitress for the burgers and steaks we ordered.
