They charge for salsa refills, they do not put jalapeños on their nachos ($2 extra! - even on the Nachos Locos or the nachos w/ everything), my fajita meat was so over cooked and greasy from rotten old grease on a grill, they were barely edible..... And they think they are ‘authentic’ Mexican? This place is TERRIBLE. For the folks who like it, you must have never had Mexican food in your life. Having grown up and lived in the Southwest, this restaurant would be out of business in a week in amongst the wonderful, excellently prepared Mexican foods of AZ, TX, and NM…. where there are Mexican places every 100 feet, ranging from upscale haute cuisine to Mexican take-aways that cater to our (actually FROM Mexico) local communities. And a variety of salsas are provided at no extra charge…. Not just boiled tomatoes, jaleps and onions ground into a watery juice w/ no heat….. Let me sum it up: if you have never had Mexican food, you may like this and think it is different. If you are a Mexican food junkie, steer clear. In fact, there really are not any good Mexican restaurants in Clearwater…sadly. But there is better than this place. And one last warm touch at this restaurant: there is a sign on the bowl of mints as you leave “You May Take One”. They only thing this place excels at is cheapness.

Ive had the opportunity to eat at many so called "Mexican Restaurants", and then Ive had the unique chance to eat at "Real" Mexican Restaurants. Los Mayas Impressed the Heck out of my family and myself. The food is not over seasoned. You can actually taste what your eating. And its good. Service was fast, and the food was great. For a group of 6 adults, with 6 regular drinks, and one alcoholic drink, plus an order of one desert, our bill was just over $70. And we couldnt even finish our meals. we had enough for another meal later in the evening. We went in for Mothers Day 2014 after a long day of touring the area. "Tino" our waiter was exceptional. Patient, cordial, and very attentive to our every need. He even brought my wife a Rose for Mothers Day. Thank You Tino, and all the staff at Los Mayas for a great time, great food, and a great Experience. We will see you again the next time were in town.

My favorite Mexican place. Pros-The food is fantastic and always fresh. I love the dishes smothered in encreama sauces.. Chili Rellenos with encreama sauce and onions is the best. My family and I always take half our meal home (because theres so much) and save it for later. If you go,be sure to take home some hot cinnamon Churros for dessert later with Ice cold milk, mmmm. Cons-The only negative about this place is something Ive found consistent with most Mexican restaurants, not so great service. The servers are not very friendly, outgoing, or attentive. Im from a European background where we make sure our customers/family/friends/guests are happy and have everything they need. You never should have to ask for a refill kinda thing. Therefore, we always go expecting great food with not so great service. I take my family and friends regardless because the foods just that good!

They changed the name and added a few new dishes to the menu, but it is the same owners and same restaurant that is / was Los Mariachis. The food ranges from average to fair, sometimes being fresh and sometimes being reheated (read- dried out from too much time in the micro) and the service is still very poor. The staff isnt friendly, they frequently mistake orders, and you should come prepared to wait a while as it is not somewhere to go if you are pressed for time. On the upside the soda is no longer as flat as it used to be but refills are still few and far between, if you get one. Its a shame its not run better as it is a great location and some of the dishes have real potential but it can only be seen when they are made fresh to order.

We ate at Los Mayas (formerly Los Mariachis) and had a pretty nice dining experience. Some people have complained that the service was poor but, for us, that was not the case even though it was prime-time dinner hour on friday night. We were seated quickly, the service was prompt and the food came out in a timely manner. Dinner was delicious! There was a strolling Mariachi band that, instead of being obnoxious or intrusive, was actually very pleasant. I would recommend this restaurant to couples looking for an inexpensive casual date night, families with kids who will eat more than chicken nuggets, and people who want good food fast but not drive through "fast-food."

We were in Clearwater on business and were hungry for something different. We took a chance on this restaurant (now called Los Mayas) and are very happy we did. We ordered take out. The shrimp quesadilla (with fajita veggies) was so amazing! The salsa was delicious with just the right amount of picante. The guacamole was very authentic Mexican which is different from the guacamole we make at home (chunky with lots of awesome onions and tomatoes and cilantro). Their guacamole was very smooth as if it had been through a food processor. It was good, but just not what we preferred. We may go back and try more entrees. Delicioso todo.

Authentic LOOKING. NOT AUTHENTIC AT ALL. Nice well kept location. No fresh Mexican waters. Menu is confusing and very restrictive. Very expensive prices for food that was not fresh but clearly reheated . Service was slow but went in with a family of 6, food took 10 minutes to come out. The food was clearly REHEATED. Food was very very bland. The freshest thing was probably the French fries. Meal came with a "taco". ..AKA taco bell style.. I am being very honest because I myself am Mexican and know what authentic Mexican food is, and this is far from it. In other words if youre looking for authentic Mexican food go somewhere else!!!!!

Their Los Mayas tortilla soup is the best ever. Our extended group keeps returning and finds it difficult to select anything else from the menu. I, however, sometimes switch to the Taco Salad with shrimp as it is a close second on my list of "cant do without". Suggestion: dont order anything else with the soup as it is a real meal in a bowl. Whenever visitors from out of town come, this is a "must stop for the soup" once they have tasted it. Needless to say, its our go-to restaurant for Mexican food.

I live in Land O Lakes and about once a month, I make the 120 minute roundtrip drive or I just stop by for lunch, whenever Im in the area doing a project. I have been going to this restaurant since January 2004, I enjoy their Authentic Mexican surroundings, very good service, great tasting food and especially their Home Made Shrimp Cocktail and if you enjoy Maragaritas, theres no place around here that makes it as good, as Los Mayas Mexican Restaurant :-) Excellent Food, Great Prices... We usually arrive around 1pm with anywhere from 2 to 20 people... the lunch crowd is calming down by then... and we have always received delicious, fresh meals. The complimentary chips and homemade salsa are a great addition to the meal. To be honest, the only draw back is they have a few slow, less than pleasant waitresses... and only a couple who are very efficient.... so if you go~ find out which section the waiter is in and you will have a better chance of good service. Enjoy!
