I went there with my family after we checked into Walk Thru Bethlehem and we had about two hours to kill until our number came up. We already ate dinner somewhere previously, so we figured we would get an appetizer and share it among our family (me my wife and two boys). So it came time to order and when I tried to order the Kuriwurst meal ($13) for us to split, I was asked "is that all?" I said no, we might get desert and we are going to get some beverages. She then informed me that there is a "sharing fee" of $3 if I share my meal with my wife and kids! This of course bothered me, so I decided not to get the meal, and we only ordered drinks and a desert. The entire time we were there the owner (at least I thought she was) gave us dirty looks, it seemed she didnt like kids. Our kids are very well behaved, and one of the waitresses even said so. Regardless, when one of their favorite customers were leaving (the people they smiled at and talked with), they turned off the music. So we were kind of left there with no music, as a hint to leave. Which we did. I personally think a sharing fee is ridiculous. If there is a business problem where a restaurant feels it had to punish customers for sharing with kids, then there is a bigger issue. Besides, annoying customers isnt exactly the best business model. They also have a cash only policy for anything under $20. I am sure the food is great, but people dont always eat for the food. They want a good German experience as well. I used to live in Heidelberg and Stuttgart, and I didnt feel this place was as friendly as the places I am used to. That is my two cents. Kind of disappointed, would like to have enjoyed some Kuriwurst.

I grew up on German food and always jump at the opportunity to try out an authentic German restaurant. The Taste of Berlin is a small and cozy German food restaurant that has a very intimate setting. The staff was speaking to some of the other patrons in German while we were there which is always a good sign of a good German meal. The menu itself featured a lot of the best German dishes you would expect such as Schnitzel, Spaetzle, Sauerbraten, and a lot more. They didnt really miss anything and I tried as many things as I could. I should also mention for those unfamiliar with German restaurants, portions are huge! I started off with their Goulash, which was very similar to their Sauerbraten tastewise blew me away, really enjoyed it. For an entre, I went for the Jager Schnitzel so I could get the Spaetzle which was longer than Ive ever had but was extremely delicious and the schnitzel was on the thicker side from what Ive had before but also extremely delicious. The jager gravy was pretty thick and hearty and the mushrooms made it that much better. I also tried the potato soup which was ok but probably the least awesome thing Id had if I had to pick something. The beer menu had all the classics you would expect from a German restaurant along with a few different things such as a couple different warsteiners that I havent had before. I could see myself coming in just to try some more beers on its own. German food isnt cheap roughly costing at least $20 per person the Taste of Berlin is right on par price-wise, meaning I wont be back often but this is the best German place Ive been to in the bay thus far.

May 2013 I started with a nice German Beer, and the Potato soup with vegetables and German Sausage. My father had a German classic, Jäger Schnitzel, and I had the daily special, a Trio Platter consisting of Berliner Kohlroulade which was meat stuffed inside cabbage with bacon gravy, Bratwurst Sausage with homemade sauerkraut, and the Schweinebraten which was a Bavarian pork roast with bread dumplings and red cabbage with mashed potatoes. I honestly cannot remember what my stepmother had to eat, but I did taste it, and it was very good. For dessert, I had some German coffee, and the Berliner Apfelstrudel with whipped cream and Vanilla Ice Cream. UPDATE: JANUARY 2014 WENT BACK TO EAT, NEW MANAGEMENT NEW CREW...SERVICE BAD, FOOD HORRIBLE, FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO EAT GERMAN FOOD

This has to be the best food find in Tampa, FL area to date. Their menu is not elaborate however, the food quality is phenomenal. Authentic German food; their sauerkraut and red cabbage is to die for. It is reasonably priced for the food amount you receive. My dinner date and I never have left this restaurant unsatisfied. The serving staff is friendly and answers all questions asked fully. Normally they have specials every night. It does not matter what day of the week you go, the food quality has not ever gone down. You can tell the chef, which is an owner, takes pride in his work. I can speak from the heart when I say Taste of Berlin is worth a drive or a trip for authentic delicious food. You will not be disappointed.

After going to this restaurant for approx. 2 years, our waitress this trip made a mistake in our order, as we didnt realize it was the wrong thing and ate it, we paid an additional $22 for her mistake. The problem with this place is not the food, the cook does very well. But the owner, she has never been really nice, and we have always commented on her rudeness before. I was forced to pay the additional money, as she refused to correct this error. I also told our waitress that we would not return, and she was very upset, but said she had to go by the owners decision. Now, you have lost a long time customer over this, terribly dissapointed. If she would have corrected this error, we would have returned.

My wife and I had not been to Taste of Berlin in a while, and so glad we went back today. The food was better than we remembered! The new flatbread appetizer was perfection, every bite completely balanced. We had the veal special and schnitzel, wonderful! And the service was great as usual. Unfortunately there was a man at nearby table who was quite upset that the waitress did not speak German. Really? When we go out for French, Italian, Japanese, etc, we do not expect the staff to speak that language. He was loud and rude and left in a snit without ordering anything, what an absolute troll. We were glad he left so that we could enjoy our dinner.

When I went to this restaurant I brought my son with me. The lady with the orange hair appeared to be very upset by a child being in the restaurant. My son is 9, and old enough to behave appropriately in a restaurant. He was asking me about the German flag on the table, the lady came and snatched the flag right out of his hand. I was so shocked, I didnt know how to respond. I will not be returning to this restaurant, due to the harsh behavior of the woman with the orange hair. Even though they have a childrens menu, I dont feel that they are child friendly.

After a failed attempt to eat at Kobe in Brandon, (dirty restaurant, horrible service), we left and decided to give Taste of Berlin a try. Probably the best home made style restaurant food I have ever had. Authentic, generous quantity and the highest quality ingredients made for an exceptional dining experience. I would without reservation recommend this place to anyone looking for the best a commercial eating establishment can possibly offer, whether a German food fan or not. I definitely will be going here again on a regular basis.
