I have been here so many times and always had good food, until last night. I took my elderly auntie and uncle here and what was served to us was embarassing. We are all from england and over there indian food is on every corner, we cook it at home, go our for it often at various restaurants and i would say we eat it at least 2-3 times a week and have done since jesus was a child so we know what good and bad indian food is. My uncles dish tasted like it was 95% salt, they took it back and even changed the dish and the next one they bought out was just as bad. In fairness to the staff they took it off the bill and rightly they should have, i dont know if the chef has changed but it was absolutely awful. My aunties food came and after 3 mouthfuls she thought the chicken was off and stopped eating, she didnt complain she just said she would not be coming back and truer words have never been spoken, when we arrived home she made 9 trips to the bathroom in the space of 2hours. Needless to say anymore. I had a different dish to them and whilst it was of ok standard it also tasted like my yearly dose of salt. I had stomach cramps for quiet a while after. Also i have noticed in the last few weeks in my opinion the standard of service has dropped, i would say in the last 12months i have eaten in here at least once every 1-2 weeks, the lunch buffet or dinner and i will not be returning, indian food in the us is not cheap and we dont care about the price or obviously we would not go so often, but for what we were served yesterday i would rather of had microwaved something from down the side of the couch and stayed at home, i always reccomend this restaurant to everybody i meet and certainly wont be doing that again

The food has good flavor and reasonably priced for the adult cost per plate-it is buffet style. Disappointed in their business "professionalism". I "ran in" before unloading the family to see how much my two year old twins would cost and they said "$1.99." That was reasonable for us considering my kids wouldnt eat much if anything. My husband and I unpacked the car and came in for lunch. Once we got seated, the same hostess informed us that the kids cost is $3.99. Still not an outrageous amount, but I asked my husband if he would like to go somewhere else. At that time the hostess elevated her tone and rationalizing with my husband the cost of the kids plate by saying "McDonalds would cost more" and that they have "good chicken". We didnt need her to make a rational, my husband and I just needed to decide what we were willing to pay for lunch. Very disappointed in their way of business and not making the situation right by owning up to her mistake. Its a shame because we did like their food, but I dont see us supporting their business again after their lack of professionalism. Lunch ended up costing us over $30, think I could have gone to somewhere of equal food quality for cheaper.

I have been here several times and really liked it until yesterdays night. I took my in-laws, my 2-year old kid and my husband there Saturday night. Big mistake. Thought it was a good idea. We have waited for the booth table half an hour. Waitress was nice as usual but we were starving by the time she brought us drinks and took an order. We ordered a simple food salads and biryanis. It took them 40 minutes to bring it. I have complained to the owner and she said its normal serving time at Saturday night. She was like "if you go to a nice sushi restaurant its always 30 min to wait "... That is not true!!! Anyways, vegetable biryani was terrible, it tasted like its from frozen pack bought in Walmart. They charged $95 for 4 people. Non of us were happy. And we unlikely coming back. Serving time is a real issue there!

This is an amazing little gem in University Park that has something for everyone. By far the best garlic naan Ive ever had. The samosas are outstanding, light, fluffy and perfectly flavored. The chef made us a special taster dish with a skewered chicken with mint cilantro rub and a seasoned fried chicken wing; to die for. We had a family style dinner and were lucky enough to try try a lot of dishes including: Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Saag, Tandoori Sampler, Butter Chicken, Tikka Masala. Ive become an Indian food connoisseur over the past few years, dining in Atlanta, Tampa and Las Vegas, but nothing has been as authentic, flavorful or at this level of quality. Hats off to the owners and our wonderful hostesses, Poonam and Sheena. Their leadership, passion and commitment to quality shows in every bite.

I have tried all the Indian restaurants in the Sarasota area and I recently moved to another town and have tried a handful here as well. Tandoor Fine Indian Cuisine is simply the best and I miss the flavors and dining experience when I used to frequent them in Sarasota. I cannot find any Indian restaurant that compares. Their buffets are amazing and always such variety every day. I miss the Saag Paneer which was my favorite dish!! No one makes it as good as Tandoor! The owners truly cares about each customer and makes them feel welcome and apart of the Tandoor family upon dining with them. This is rare and real special part of Tandoors charm. Cant wait to eat at Tandoor if I am ever in the Sarasota area again!

My wife and I love making a trip to Tandoor for special occasions. We have been all over the world and eaten a lot of Indian food. We find that the tandoori chicken has historically been a little dry, but the butter chicken is absolutely amazing and makes the trip worth it entirely. I like the rice they use, and the naan is great. I could live on naan forever. Im so glad they took the risk of putting a restaurant in this high $ per square foot location, because all we really needed in Sarasota is another chain, right? If youre anything like me with Indian food, however, just make sure you find a bathroom about 40 minutes after you leave. Try the Starbucks in Macys.

My wife and I were happy driving 35 miles each way to eat the delicious traditional Indian Food at Tandoor since they first opened at their original, smaller location on Clark Rd in Sarasota nearly 12 years ago. Now that they have moved even further from us to the current location it adds another 10 miles each way. We do it without batting an eyelash as often as we can! Why? The food and service at Tandoor are top quality. It is a first class family owned restaurant where repeat customers keep coming back time and again. It is our absolute favorite restaurant on the West Coast of Florida!

Ambiance: Average to Good Washrooms: Could be cleaner Waiter: Friendly, courteous Meal: Ordered Seekh Kabab. Expected it to be like the pic on the menu, but arrived cut up and crumbled as soon as my fork touched it. This is a No-No for Seekh Kabab, especially for what they charge. It should be firm w/o falling to pieces. Wife ordered chicken curry, which was quite good. Attention to detail: Could be better - ordered plain naan, but arrived buttered. Server took it back & brought back plain within a few minutes. Overall: 3 stars, but will not be making a return trip soon.
