Rapoports Restaurant Group is on quite a roll, and seems to get better with each new venture. All of their venues have a unique menu and vibe, and are quite popular amongst locals in the area. As with most growing restaurant chains and groups, the establishments are starting to feel more corporate than mom & pop, but that is to be expected. Meanwhile, Im a fan of the group, and my experience at Rappys Deli was mostly positive. I should note that I was a patron of Rapoports "EJ Sandwich Shop," off Atlantic Avenue, now closed. Rappys Deli takes the torch from the sandwich shop, and runs with it in a big way. It has a legitimate deli counter, but also functions as a fully-fledged, dine-in restaurant. In my first trip there, our group was seated at a booth. The restaurant decor is a highlight. I love the way the full bar is positioned, and there is ample seating inside, and along the outdoor patio. As with the other Rapoport restaurants, you will not be disappointed with the ambiance, and youll be very comfortable I had the Ruben and the Pastrami Spring Rolls. Both dishes had character, and were quite enjoyable. The cheesecake was a notch above, and one serving easily feeds two. The crinkled fries were nothing special, but its hard to find any other legitimate complaints about the food. Its real deli food and its done right. On the merits of the food quality alone, I would go back to try more items at Rappys Deli in the future. The menu has a bevy of choices, and they are introducing breakfast in 2017. While I will be going back to Rappys Deli, I will do so just a bit begrudgingly, as I am not a fan of the prices. Rappys isnt the only place offering quality, authentic deli food in the Boca area. I do appreciate the superior ambiance and setup to some of its competitors, but Im not sure the high premium is completely justifiable. To be clear, youre paying restaurant prices, not deli prices. With the prices being what they are, Id be a more likely regular customer if they offered daily and significant specials. Side-note: Our waitresss service left a lot to be desired. Ive done this work, and I know we all have bad days and bad tables. But I feel like my group was as easy as can be, yet we were left hanging much of the time. Unfortunately, she had to make extra trips back to the kitchen for us, and only as a result of not listening, or writing anything down. She also interrupted a bite of mine on her way across the table to pick up the check, which was awkward and unpleasant. Its hard to say if this was a reflection of a greater managerial issue, or if this was an isolated server issue. In fairness, another server had noticed that we had empty glasses, and retrieved refills for us, despite ours not being her table. Its a new place, so I would tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. Rappys has great food and decor, which make it worth a visit, in spite of their prices. Theyre not fast, so definitely call ahead if youre in a rush.

Update: after receiving positive messages from the management about possibly reconsidering the prices, I decided to see if the prices are more reasonable. Nope: I ordered...scratch that, I was going to get a quart of chicken soup with matzo balls until the guy thankfully warned me it was over $16. Even he felt guilty. Local places are $8. I got the pint for over $6 with a single matzo ball. This place is nuts. Soup was ok. Not worth the price. Good luck to the owners. Im not going back. found this new place by glancing over on the way someplace else. It is located in a new plaza which seems to have been designed with Palm Beach Gardens meets Bocas Mizner Park in mind. There is parallel parking in front off all the stores plus a lot. It will only be a matter of time when all the stores are occupied and a valet service comes in to steal 75% of the parking lot causing people who are not snobby enough to need to have someone park their car for them to be forced into tipping someone for a service they dont want. By the name, I was thinking this was going to be a sandwich joint. However it is a full service deli. Inside and outside seating and a bar. It also has a takeout counter / deli section. I got a tuna salad sandwich on rye bread with coleslaw. The bread was great. It was very soft with crispy crust. The tuna was perfectly moist and I could immediately tell that it was good grade of tuna. My problem was with the saltiness. They could have used half the salt and it still would have been too salty, for me at least. Certainly the way it was made, anyone would comment about the salt. It was definitely a presence. My other issue was with the fact it didnt come with a pickle. Trivial, but what deli doesnt give you a pickle? As expected, because it is a deli, the prices were outrageous. $26 for brisket. I mean, seriously. $14 burger.$17-18 for pastrami or corned beef. Overall it is a great new place and will be back only to try another one or two things. If the prices were lower, Id probably be a regular.

Nice enough place, and the ingredients were good, but Ive got a few gripes about our experience, including that the prices are a bit heavy for the run-of-the-mill menu options and that the server was disinterested. We were seated right away at lunchtime on a weekday, which was nice, but it took more than 30 minutes for food to arrive. When I caught the servers attention to ask what was up after having waited a while, instead of saying "Ill check on your order right away" like most servers would, she matter-of-factly stated that they just got a big party on the other side of the restaurant, so theyre backed up right now. No apology, no "Ill see what I can do." She basically said I should sit there and keep waiting while the big group that came in after I did gets their food first. (Incidentally, as we were finishing our meal, a group of seven sat down next to us--not one of which appeared to be in any kind of hurry. Somehow, they were all served within 10 minutes, and two different managers came by to see how they were doing.) It also took a very long time to get our check. I finally had to ask a manager to get it for me, and I had to flag the server down to get her to take payment from me. When the check came, it had a surprise. I have kids, and I expect to pay $3 for a small juice or chocolate milk at restaurants. Some servers/places are nice enough not to charge for kid drinks. I consider that a gift, not an entitlement, and I tip on what I would have paid. But, this place charges $4 per juice (most I think Ive ever been charged, even at upscale places), though, and they completely filled the small cup with ice before adding the juice. At most, there was 8 ounces of liquid in there. My son drained that during the very long wait for our food to come out, so I asked for a refill. Without warning, the server charged another $4 for the refill. Really!? I hope Rappys enjoys my $8 for juice, because its the last of my money that theyll ever see.
