Theres mixed reviews on Yelp, but my friends and I thought Homestead was a 5 star experience. We ventured up to Petworth on a Sunday evening for dinner and no reservation was needed. Right away, a very knowledgeable waiter was telling us their daily specials, about the chef and walking us through the restaurants brief history. Before we knew it, we were sipping on cocktails that has game and savoring some of the best new food to enter the DC scene. First off, the cocktails were wonderfully crafted and had a range from more bitter (Cynar julep) to sweet (Try the peach cocktail). For a self proclaimed cider restaurant, they only had three options but the three they had ranged from sweet to dry. The food was really, really good. I ordered the meatloaf (best in DC) and the crab bisque soup. The soup was very creamy and despite being soup, melted in your mouth. Do NOT leave without getting dessert. We ordered a trio for $18 and chose the chocolate leant butter creme brûlée and the blueberry cornbread pudding. Both were some of the best (and fresh tasting) desserts Ive had in DC! We loved the Homestead! Since Yelp is a free feedback tool for the restaurants we love, if they wanted to up their game, we had two suggestions: 1) The decorations and atmosphere was a little too dark. It looked cool, but just a tad dark. 2) For being a seasonal restaurant, many of their menu items were more Fall than Summer.

I really enjoyed Homestead. The space is very trendy but warm and welcoming, still feeling like the row-house it once was before being converted to a restaurant. There are several interior floors with small bars on the ground and third floors. The third floor bar has several televisions with sports on, but the area feels like the perfect mix of sports bar meets hipster cocktail bar. Outside on the third floor deck there is an additional bar with televisions. There is also a small balcony facing Georgia Ave. There is a great variety of local craft brews on draft. I wasnt blown away by the quality of the house cocktails I sampled, but the staff was new and still learning the menu. The food is great at Homestead. I have had both brunch and dinner here. Food can be on the pricey side for certain items, I paid $19 for a burger with lamb bacon (it was good but $19?!?). The lamb bacon is great and they offer it as an add-on for a number of menu items or a-la-carte. You can order fresh coffee from the local coffee bar next door; a nice co-op type touch. My only complaint is that they allow smokers to indulge their habit on the third floor deck.

This place has an amazing atmosphere with a surprising amount of space, both indoor and outdoor. Given that it was opening weekend, the place was packed and the staff was slammed but I came with company so we hung around the bar, admiring both the ambiance and their wide selections of local beers. The food here stole the show though. I got to try the risotto, catfish and the roasted chicken and all of them were cooked to perfection. The risotto was hardy, the catfish was fresh and the chicken was juicy. Altogether the presentation and taste showcased the talented chef they have here. Theres no other place like this in Petworth and Im glad they opened it before the fall weather rolls around.

Service was great. David has a photographic memory!! Biscuits very flat but oh so yummy. Didnt like the mimosa. Champagne didnt taste good. Shrimp and grits were decent. Im just not a stoneground grits kinda girl. Shrimp were TINY. Lamb bacon.... I can do without next time. Little slivers. Not crisp and EXTREMELY salty. My husbands breakfast potatoes were way over cooked and $2 for cheese??? Come on!! The pancakes were typical. My sons eggs Benedict looked good. He said it was. And my daughter in law liked the challah french toast. All & all..... I make a much better brunch at home and I wont charge you as much!! As I said before the service was great!!

Amazing! A real twist on southern staples with a unique gourmet flare! Ordinary dishes turned extraordinary. We were a large party that had the privilege of tasting almost everything on the menu, and each dish had its own unique flavours and textures. Not to mention the detail in the preparation, starting from where they source the ingredients, to when it is placed in front of you. The vibe here is cozy, warm, funky, and relaxed. The cocktails were original and delicious, as we also tried the entire cocktail menu. Truly a place where you enter with an empty stomach and leave feeling full and like part of a family.

This is a relatively new restaurant in the diverse Petworth neighborhood. It is a row house transformed into a 3-level restaurant/pub/tavern. Ive only spent time on the 3rd floor which has a friendly bar setting with a few flat screens with your choice of comedy and/or sports along with some dinning tables. Theres an outdoor patio as well as some outdoor seating overlooking Georgia Ave. Monday nights are fun for happy hour meaning discounted drinks all night and the meatloaf as well as the burgers are delicious!

I ordered carry out meatloaf dinner. I was disappointed on the portions which was not as advertised. I was looking forward to a good relationship but felt I would not do them again. However I called and spoke to the chief and he clarified a miscommunication and told me to return and gave me another order with better portion size. I will say they were friendly and seemed committed to pleasing their customers. I shall go back and try different entre.

I was fortunate to attend the soft opening and WOW what a great place in DCs Petworth neighborhood. As a resident for 8 years, I am glad to see such a beautiful spot with an amazing menu in the neighborhood! The catfish nuggets and prime rib are outstanding. My girlfriend had the grapefruit spritzer cocktail which she loved. 5 stars!

I absolutely love Homestead! I started with a cheese/charcuterie board and the Chef even came out to explain what was on the plate. The Homestead Wedge is amazing with Lamb Bacon Lardons on it. For my entree I had the Homestead Meatloaf, also amazing. Service was excellent and drinks were also unique. Will definitely be back!

A fine place for a drink, a bad place for dinner. My party of 3 had salmon that was underdone, risotto that had no flavor other than garlic, and a porkchop with sides that were without flavor. The atmosphere was fun and the physical location is charming. If the Homestead were a bar itd be 4 stars but Id never eat here again.

Vibe was good. Food was decent. We were apparently were given a menu that was out of date: the dish I ordered was delivered with missing components and then upon pointing this out, and requesting said components we were changed for it. People were nice enough, but it was all a bit particular.

5/5 hands down....the waitress was amazing and kind. The food was orgasmic. I had a party of 6 and we all order different plates . I also noticed that each plate had its own little special characteristics... I recommend the fried chicken 5/5 hands down. Camilla was an awesome waitress.

Bartender was awesome. Really enjoyed the arancini and the fried catfish. My friend got the pork chop and he loved it. I had a Mezcal drink and it was also really good. Service + food and the atmosphere made for a really good experience. I would definitely go back.
