We were with friends in Bistro Lepic on Saturday January 24, 2015 and the food and wine were excellent. However: It was Restaurant Week in DC: the Bistro was packed and the three courses of the menu were served with a speed that would make any fast food chain proud. Once you had finished your course, two seconds later your plate was removed even if others at the table were still eating. And a couple of minutes after all of us had finished, the next course would be served. The whole dinner for the party of four lasted slightly more than an hour and we felt rushed through our wine and the whole menu so that the table could be used again. On a cold and busy winter day - like the day we went - you are exposed to a lot of cold air when you sit next to the door which is very displeasing. Next time we know in advance and order another table. Yes, we will go there again and give it another try as the food was excellent. We hope that this speed-feeding-attitude was really caused by the extraordinary conditions of Restaurant Week in DC.

Was there yesterday for a birthday lunch and, unlike other times, the dining room was half-full. And everything was just a little off, starting with the liver, which is the reason to go to Bistro Lepic. This time it was thick, stringy, coated with a heavy (albeit flavorful) sauce and plated in best banquet style -- a far cry from the silken creation of visits past. Service was off and, I hesitate to accuse anyone of bad intentions but I think the waiter hustled us on the wine -- the champagne was delicious but, when the bill came, discovered that may have been because it was not the house wine that we had ordered.

We had our annual reunion with our much loved cousin and niece last night. Excellent service at the bar, and also at table where we enjoyed our starters of pate, beet and brie terrine, and the soup of the day. Unfortunately, we had to pass up on our mains when a gas leak shut down the kitchen. The manager and staff reacted quickly and calmly, evacuating the restaurant in an orderly manner and summoning the FD. Their care for our safety reflected their care for our dining experience. We could not be more pleased, and will definitely return.

What is a surprise is the commitment to classic French cuisine, a la 1950s-bisque, escargot, kidneys, veal cheeks. Old style but not stodgy, done with exacting care and impeccable taste. No new ground broken here, but why kick when the Lobster Bisque tastes as fresh as on the boardwalk in Marseilles, the escargot balanced with a perfect parsley and garlic butter sauce, the Rockfish nicely seared on a bed of spinach. Polite, proper and delicious.

Really Bistrot Lepic was an excellent venue for my grandmothers recent 90th birthday celebration. The food was definitely some fo the best Ive had in awhile. I had the magnificent onion tart as an appetizer and I am trying to find a recipe for a similar one because it wowed me so much. I also highly recommend the salmon tartare. The beef medallions were pleasantly tender and well seasoned. The chocolate tart for dessert was a nice end.

This is truly an outstanding restaurant with wonderful food, pleasant and welcoming ambiance, great staff and outstanding wines. Recently I went to one of the most touted restaurants in Washington and ended up paying three times what a meal at Bistrot Lepic would have cost and it was not even 1/3 as good. They are always gracious. I use it often for business lunches and it never fails to please my guest or me.

The seating is cool but pretty uncomfortable if you have more than two people seated (no leg space under the table) and pretty uncomfortable to eat the big meals dripping with the delicious sauce because the tables are very low. Food was great, service was knowledgeable but a bit inattentive for the fact that it wasnt crowded, and the space was tight.

I ate a quick dinner myself here a few weeks ago and was not disappointed. The Salmon was fantastic, cooked perfectly and nicely crusted. The bartenders take on the last word was also excellent and his secret was not leaving the chartreuse in the glass (which I usually find overpowering). The service is always great and it is a solid spot.

Nice ambiance, very good attentive service. We split the onion tart which was very good, a little salty. We shared both the trout and risotto and quail entrees. While fresh they just lacked in depth of flavor, particularly the fish. Good but a little pricy for the quality.

Came in for the first time on Wednesday for jazz night and it was superb. The food was so pretty that I didnt want to eat it. The service was personal and friendly. Cozy setting great for a semi romantic evening or a chill night with friends.

We love Bistro Lepic! The food is always great, as is the atmosphere! The wine bar tables are close together but has a good vibe. The veal cheeks and cassoleut are our favorites. Bon Appetite!

First dinner of summer restaurant week 2017- escargots, veal kidney, and salmon, with live music Service was top notch, even though it was a busy night, and food was delicious!

Enjoyable meal. Less a "bistro" it seemed to me than a decent French restaurant. Service was excellent and the decor comfortable with a touch of elegance.

The little wine bar upstairs is not just a hidden gem, its a zen garden with great wine, food and conversation. One of the best spots in the entire city.

Pal mal. We tried the half priced wines at the wine bar during happy hour and found it enjoyable. The pleasant lounge atmosphere also promotes the wine.
