Let me just being here with 2 quick disclaimers, as this place seems to be known for both, but I wont be touching on either. 1. I dont really care about the whole "farm to table thing", honestly...if it tastes good, Im going to stuff it into my face hole. That being said, apparently, they do that really well here. 2. I dont really care about the whole gluten-free thing. I love gluten, and again...if its good, its going in the face hole. That being said, they clearly cater to that demographic here, and the menu makes it simple to make a choice that fits your dietary needs. Okay, now that we got that out of the way! The wife and I had heard plenty of good things about the Marketplace and had been meaning to get down there at some point. The 21st wedding anniversary seemed like the perfect excuse to treat ourselves. We secured another couple to tag along and went ahead and made the reservation, online...through Yelp! Which was awesome by the way. We arrived for our 6pm reservation on a Saturday and I was pretty surprised that the parking lot was so empty. From what Ive heard and read, the place jams on the weekends. More on that later. We were greeted at the door by a super friendly hostess who showed us to our table in the bar area. Some here have mentioned that the bar area was loud and not a really good place to enjoy dinner, but honestly, we thought the opposite. Even by the time we were done and the bar had filled up a bit, we were still okay with the sound level and actually it was kind of fun watching the bartenders making the fancy drinks. Speaking of fancy drinks.... We decided to start with a round of fancy drinks and some appetizers. Honestly, I have no idea what we ordered drink-wise, but they were freaking amazing and worth every penny. For apps the wife and I went with the oysters and our friends opted for the charcuderie platter. Ive always been big on the theory that the appetizers will be a good indication of whats in store food-wise. If the apps are a slam dunk, the entrees are likely to be the same. In the case of both of these options, slam dunk. Amazing. For entrees, I decided to low-ball it and go with a steak sandwich. The wife opted for a crab-encrusted halibut special, and our friends also opted to order off the special menu; one scallop dish and one risotto dish. Im not going to go on and on about how good the food was...I mean, I could, but theres really no need. The food was a 10/10 across the board. Even my lowly steak sandwich was possibly the best Ive ever had. We all were very generous with the sharing and tasting and there wasnt one negative comment about any of it. Seriously, amazing. Service was also on point, no complaints at all. Waiter, bus people, food runners were all awesome and super attentive. About as good as it gets honesty. Price-wise its like this: If you go and order a sandwich and sodas, youll be happy and get out of there pretty cheap, if you are like us and order a few fancy drinks and fancy entrees, its going to be a little pricey. But at the Market Place (unlike some places), its worth it, and youll get what you pay for. Either way, get down there and give them your business, theyre doing it right. (Just as an aside: By the time we finished our meals and walked out at around 7:30, the place was PACKED, and there looked to be a decent back log of people waiting to sit. Make reservations, or get there early. Also, for you ladies out there, apparently they hire waiters straight out of an Abercrombie catalog. While this made my friend and I feel a bit inadequate, the wives were loving it!)

Was eager to finally eat at this place since moving from NYC to this area. We arrived and the dinning room was almost empty but bar area was overly crowded, we were told there was a 35 minutes wait for a table. Sat at the bar and later assigned a tiny table in a corner of the bar, next to an exit door. A sugar fix is what you get there: you start with complimentary bread with olive oil and sweet cranberry butter, all you taste is sugar. Started with the deliciously sounding prosciutto and goat cheese flat bread, a sorry looking mess, overly sweet, impossible to eat. Marketplace burger came in a soggy mess of mayo, the bun had become a mayo/bread soup. This place its overly expensive and with so many ingredients added to their dishes you can hardly enjoy it.

The service my fiance and I received was unpleasant. It was late afternoon and we wanted something that wouldnt ruin our appetite for dinner so we decided on soup. The waitress then asked with a bit of an attitude if that was really all we wanted. We said yes and she asked again as if we didnt know what we wanted. She didnt check on us to see how we were, if we wanted anything or if the food was good. THE ONLY REASON Im giving this restaurant 3 stars is because the portion size and quality of the food we did get was decent. We spent $25 on two soups and one soda. It was very expensive for what we got. I wouldnt recommend this based on the service I received.

Very disappointed. After spending $170 without tip, we were given dirty looks by the waitress AND owner. After confronting the waitress she said she was being pressured by the owner. Meanwhile, there was NO ONE waiting for a table when we left. You can guarantee, me, my family and my friends will never step foot in the place again. If only there was an option for zero stars. So disrespectful. Never, ever again.

Terrible table right in front of the kitchen when other tables were available. Super small print on the menu made it very difficult to read. Bus boy so anxious to appear efficient he tried to take the bread dishes and knives while we were still eating bread.

This place is the Cats Meow if U LOVE Upscale Farm-2-Table Food, Super Friendly & Attentive Wait Staff, Fabulous Background Music, & the rustic landscape of Americana of old, since its located in a reassembled 300 yr. old barn! Well worth it!!!

I asked if they would take a reservation for five and they said no. Only six or more. Doesnt make any sense. So if I said we had six and one person was sick when we got there wouldve been OK .Whet across the street to Carlitos no problem.

Really wish they could be on every night verses hit and miss. Why not have a waitress take drink orders in the waiting area - sure beats watching the clueless staff as they make you wish someone would care about their customers.

Organic food and a separate bar area. This place is always packed and for a good reason. Thus restaurant is fairly new, serves farm to table for most items and the food is delicious. One of my favorite restaurants in the area.

Soup and salad took longer than a meal. The tomato basil soup was like tomato sauce- too chunky. The Kale salad was terrible. Nice setting though. I just wished that the simple food request matched. Will not be returning.

Best place to eat by far. Kobe burger is a must have and so are the sprouts. Always crowded and the friendliest staff. Everything is from farm to plate all local. A lot of vegetarian gluten free vegan options.
