The service is pretty terrible but the food is good. My friend and I went there for a drink this past weekend. We went up to the bar and had to struggle to get the bartenders attention even though it was not that crowded. My friend happened to want Moscato and she didnt even know what Moscato was!!! Then I had to repeat my drink order twice. After taking our orders, she went to go flirt with some guy for 5 minutes and did not even start to make our drinks. Then she comes back and goes "Im sorry, what did you guys get again??" and I was like Uhh....Really?? So we get our drinks and sit down for about an hour. When its time to leave, we went back up to the bar to pay. No joke, this girl goes "Oh....What did you get again??" and I was just like Are you serious??? Basically we could have left without paying, but being a decent upstanding citizen I did the correct thing and paid for our drinks. I cannot speak for everyone else there, so to the owner of this place, you might wanna fire her if you dont want to waste all of your money at the bar. She wears her hair up, kind of messy. It seems like shes on something. She was very out of it.

This is a tale of two services. We love dining in. The menu is very good and service is solid. It is a very relaxing atmosphere and especially good in the summer when there is ample outdoor searing. (I particularly love their salads.) Since my kids just had their second kid (that makes us grandparents!), we have started to do regular takeout. Order quality control has been troublesome and I complained to the manager. To his credit (and the restaurants) I received a very nice email from him, taking responsibiloity and promising improvements. That is good enough for me at this point! So support this great neighborhood "pub." Quick follow-up: The manager contacted after I sent a complaint via email. HE was very apologetic about takeout errors and replied with a plan how it would be better.

Tavern is one of the few places that everyone in my family likes to go. We have been there probably a dozen times in the past couple of years and have had near perfect experiences each time. Our first visit actually was a bit mixed (some of the food was so-so), but since then I can honestly say that weve enjoyed everything weve gotten. Weve also had great luck with service, both during slow times and busy times. My personal favorite is the lobster mac and cheese. Its a really good grilled cheese sandwich, filled with large pieces of lobster (not just a few small bits as other places might do). The atmosphere is great for kids as well, and mine always have a great time.

Ive been to tavern about three times and each time I am wowed. Its a true NYC dining experience in the Monroe/Trumbull area and best of all its "grown up" comfort food too. Really tasty, gourmet food that is out of this world. I also really like the scene -- its great for families early on and gets a bit more fun as the night goes on, with great music. The place is really hip and funky too. I am also a fan of the massive international beer list. Try your favorite ale with the panko-dusted buffalo chicken wings. I stick to that while my wife enjoys the tuna tartare! cant wait to come back.

So I have driven past this place for several years and noticed that the parking lot was always packed so my wife and i decided to try it out last sunday. Honestly we were really disappointed. I ordered the french onion soup and it was the saltiest soup i have ever had. I could not finish it. We both order burgers medium and they both were too rare, bloody. Fries were cold and saggy. Bread pudding dessert was cold and no sauce to speak of. Lastly I ordered a coffee and it was ice cold. All in all a real awful date night.

We had our sons baptism party (almost 30 people) at Tavern on March 8th, 2015 and it was great! They were very accomodating of my brother who is in a wheelchair, and made menu accomodations for any and all needs. The price was stellar and the food top notch - I was able to mix and match from their offerings, and everything came out great! I even brought my own cake and they displayed, cut, and served it at no extra charge. I will definitely be using them again for events - its our favorite restaurant!

This place is a disaster. The food is high priced and for the most part bland. Embarrassing at the price. The server we had was unfriendly to the point of rude. The drinks are expensive and the bartenders are slow. It has been opened for over 6 months and it is startling that the owners, who own restaurants in Norwalk/Stamford, dont do something to improve the attitude, pricing and find a chef that can cook. Avoid this place. Cr203 has explained the attitude and lack of intelligence perfectly!!!!!!

Diverse menu items with knowledgeable staff, this is a great place if you are gluten-free! They have the most gf dessert options Ive seen around, and their fish tacos are amazing, though I wasnt too keen on the slaw, which I typically love. They also have gf buns. I cant wait to go back and have a burger and a dessert! Fast and friendly service. Also, I hear they are very popular with the bar scene.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. With the name Tavern I was expecting typical american & bar food and walked away very impressed. While the selection doesnt vary too much outside those areas, they definitely are a cut above similar style restaurants in terms of taste/quality. The beer/wine selection was also very good.

This place is great! Such a wonderful addition to the town of Monroe. The tavern burger was awesome! cooked perfectly and cannot complain about the price. My server was outgoing, attentive, and good looking. So happy to see a change of pace in Monroe, cant wait to come back!

Food was tasty! Apple wood smoked bacon + lobster sliders!! Lots of other good things on the menu, too. Our server was great; friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating. The place is cozy but also open and fun. Definitely worth checking out out!

Good comfort American food, friendly service and a nice setting. French Fries need a major improvement, they arrived soggy and full of grease, server was happy to replace them for a green salad.
