Harlan is so close to where I live and I really want to like it but its very hit or miss for me. Sometimes the food and service are great, other times.. not so much. I love their crab cakes and they come with a little sauce and smoked pancetta but the 3 times I ordered them I got a different amount of sauce. The crab cakes can get a little dry so they need something creamy to pair with but last time I barely got any sauce on my plate and it took away from the dish...Very inconsistent. I like their drinks, but I find them a bit overpriced and the wine pours are not consistent either. My husband and I went there last summer for drinks and were told we couldnt sit outside because it was dinner time and unless we ordered food we need to sit in the bar section. Last week we go again and were being told we can sit wherever we want lol. I think with a bit of improvement this place could be great and Im rooting for it.

Ate at Harlan tonite. Lovely restaurant--ridiculously poor service. Did our wait person have a bad day or is excruitiatingly bad service the norm? After ordering drinks in an almost empty restaurant, a 15 minute wait seemed excessive and then the table next to us was served first. Lobster bisque minus any decernible lobster was a disappointment. Burata and wedge salad were good. Salmon a tad over done, chicken very good and scallops were excellent. Waiter never returned for desert order and his unfriendly and unengaging manner tarnished what would otherwise been a pleasant evening. Support staff far exceeded our servers performance. Wish management had been available as we left---instead our server posted himself at the door making it awkward to ask.

Went on a recommendation from a friend. It was our anniversary. We had to tell our server multiple times it was our first time. We were there 1 1/2 hours and all we got out of that was empty glasses, a burned beef filet and bad descriptions of food. I asked what flavor the ice tea was and they just kept saying unsweetened ice tea. Sorry, unsweet is not a flavor. The staff was sitting with other tables, frequently talking to other tables, we got none of that. One customer even had his bare feet up on a chair behind us. We asked for melted butter, (for the burnt beef) she forgot and didnt want to admit it. After a reminder 10 min later, she brought out slightly warmed butter. Sad we still have money left on our gift card.

Our experience was with a private party/wedding reception mid August 2014. Two words, they rocked! Do not try the crab cakes if you like crab and have addiction problems. The food was amazing, Chef runs a precision operation and I was somewhat cut off by the ASM mid conversation because "he had to go help his staff". Wait, you are interrupting my complements to go help you waiter staff clear tables, AMAZING! Cat - special events manager - was great all night and went with the flow as the night went on/late. I would not hesitate to go back for a meal and might make a trip out of it, they were that good.

Worst brunch ever. The scrambled eggs for my son were greasy and tasteless; worse than a deli. My husband’s dish (whatever he ordered) was a mush of sausage and grits??! Dish didn’t make sense. I ordered soup and it really feft like left-over yuck (rabbit sausage, white bean, and something else); didn’t finish it. Service was fine; we sat in the bar area. But we won’t be going back…too many times and too many bad experiences. I don’t think it was always like that.

I hoped to like this more than I did! It was just okay. For the price I would definitely recommend taking an Uber or the free trolley three minutes down the road and stopping at any of the great restaurants in downtown Stamford. The drink menu is fine, nothing exciting or unique. The dinner was disappointing- I had the veggie gnocchi, which sadly required a lot of salt and pepper. It looked delicious but was lacking sauce and flavor.

Perfect gin and tonic. Delicious baby spinach salad with candied walnuts and strawberry vinegret. Amazing salmon piccata. Fixed menu for restaurant week but great choices for an excellent value. Also had tiramisu for dessert which was wonderful but not part of the fixed menu. Crowded but very friendly wait staff and everything served in a timely manor.

My lobster dish had the shell still on when it was not supposed to. When I told the waitress she was so casual about it and said shell talk to the chef. Came back with no response. Took my knife away and didnt bring a new one to replace it. They were out of hot chocolate on their dessert menu. Overall pretty lame experience. Not worth it.

Harlan Social was great, just had our private/wedding event this past August and I cannot rave enough about the staff and food. The food was amazing and all of our guests are still complimenting the venue. A HUGE thank you to the staff for making our night great, they were attentive and responsive to anything and everything that we needed.

With a widely varied menu ranging from a mozzarella bar to small plates to full plates and sides, Harlan Social delivers great food. The service is attentive, knowledgeable and engaging. The wine list is broad and there is a full bar. This was a very good experience. This was our second visit and were happy its close to home.

I thoroughly enjoyed this place. I came down for a weekend to the states and this was the first restaurant we went to for a special occasion. The set up of the restaurant was very clean, spacious and welcoming. The food was very good and the portions were huge ! I couldnt finish my meals. Very nice for big gatherings.

Ive eaten here several times and agree with the previous review -- food is inconsistent and service is even worse -- spotty, rude and often aggravated yuppies working to "be seen" rather that to help a paying customer -- I much prefer Harvest in Greenwich -- food is much better and service is top notch.

Food is very inconsistent - ranging from poor to excellent. Salmon, for example was excellent; but miso cod was salty & very one dimensional. Service is spotty - Don, the bartender, is great. But I cant say the same about other servers. I guess they have a lot to work on.

Gastro pub meets sports bar, this neighborhood joint have a pretty good new American line up, with a decent selection of cocktails and drinks. The menu seems a bit stale (cant recall much change for the 2 years that Ive lived nearby), but the items taste delicious.

My friends and family love this place for brunch. I prefer the drinks over the food. The dessert empanadas are pretty amazing. I prefer fresh chorizo vs smoked so am always dissatisfied with smoked which is what they serve. Service is always great and friendly

After, what I thought was bad service. Turned out to be a misunderstanding, I am thankful for the way management handled the situation. Before getting upset, talk to a manager. I received a full refund, which was very thoughtful of them.
