I would go to Athens on a weekly basis, and loved it so much that all of my co-workers from Greenwich Medical Spa started ordering lunch from there. Needless to say, we have spent a lot of money at this place. After today, I will never order from Athens or give them my business and neither will our multi-million dollar company. Every time we ordered as a group, there would be a mistake, but we never mentioned anything and let it go. Finally, I called and spoke to the manager because yet again our order was incorrect. This unprofessional, rude, hostile, and aggressive human being known as the "owner of 39 years" proceeded to scream at me over the phone. He stated it was all our fault, and that he was right, and yelled at me so loud that my co-worker sitting next to me heard it all. At that point, I decided to go down the street and speak to the owner personally because I could not believe that he just yelled at me the way he did and treated me like dirt, when I am in fact, a loyal customer that now will never return. I went into the restaurant and asked for him immediately, and the "owner" became even more aggressive and screamed at me in front of everyone. Two of his female employees had to hold him back, and if they did not, I can bet that this man would have completely lost it and possibly became violent. I have never taken time out of my lunch break or even my day to speak to someone personally about a matter like this, but it needed to be done. I am half his age, and I never spoke to anyone, especially a customer, the way that he spoke to me and yelled at me in his restaurant. He should be ashamed of himself and so should his entire staff. When I came outside, a gentleman that always takes my order, as well as the delivery guy, were in the parking lot. They apologized several times and asked me what happened. The worker told me that he just also got into a fight with him 2-3 minutes ago, and that he is a very rude man. His worker told me that all I have to say is "f*** you" and tell him he lost our business. I could not believe that even his employees spoke this way about him. The delivery driver said this is his last week working there. I wanted to share my experience with any potential clients so that you know what type of a man you are giving your hard earned money to. I was a very loyal customer, leaving $3 tips on $15 *pick-up* orders, and now I know why their parking lot is always so empty. I regret the amount of money my company, as well as myself, have spent in this place. NEVER AGAIN!

Athens is a diamond in the rough. We had heard great things about it, so my family and I went there for the first time last week. The decor - I was told - was just recently updated, and it was lovely. Comfortable, cozy, and had an authentic European touch. But more importantly, the food was phenomenal!! I have a large family (three kids and hubby), and we all didnt know what to order because there was so much to choose from! Pizzas, specialty pastas, salads, greek dishes! (We went with a little bit of everything). We ended up asking the waiter (who was very helpful btw), to help us! Coming from a restaurant family myself, I could tell that everything was fresh. Thats the big difference between chain restaurants (like the rizzutos across the street) and family owned businesses like Athens. Quality, fresh, and hearty portions! The food was fantastic, it was clean, all in all a wonderful dining experience. We definitely plan to go back. If you are in the area, make it a point to stop by! Pricing is also completely reasonable!! Which is a point with me as we have 5 mouths to feed. P.S. - The wine selection looked great too, hubs and I plan to go back on our date night :)

This is the worst delivery possible. The service is completely rude, my coworkers and I always used to order from here but they have given us the worst service. We are around the corner from the place, and it took an hour and a half to delivery 2 pizzas and one salad... granted he was a new driver. But when the pizza got there, it was over cooked and cold. I also got screamed at over the phone by the owner when I asked him to politely try and have someone get here faster than last time since we are so close. He said "We are too busy and the food will get there when it gets there!" and hung up on me. I would not recommend this place to anyone, Ive worked in customer service for years and it really pays off when you are polite to your customers. You have to be kind to run a place. Business owners - dont be like Athens.

Worst service ever! Placed our order, waited a half hour, but the server never asked if we needed anything. After flagging her down with no response, we approached the desk to ask for a second round of drinks. Forty-five minutes later with no acknowledgement of our presence, and 3 other booths given service and ready for the check, we asked where our dinner was. My husband has never NOT left a tip. However this was an exception. The other waitress on duty was very responsive to her clientele. We would only recommend take out service at this establishment. Very disappointing since the chef worked so very hard to to produce an excellent meal.

Pam-Mar. 19, 2011 We often bring another couple and are never disappointed. Tonight we enjoyed 4 different delicious dinners. Excellent value. 3 of us took home half of our meal. Service is always pleasant and caring. We never feel rushed, even when they are crowded. They have the nicest wait staff - well trained, attentive.. "Of course" is the answer to any request. Its our "go to" neighborhood family restaurant.

We have seen that recently the management has changed and we have been going there for many many years. We now have mixed feelings since they let go a wonderful employee we called "Our mother" since she gave us the feeling of being at home. The food is still great but we miss our "Mother" as we always will. Please bring her back and keep Athens the family restaurant it claims to be. Jim from Old Greenwich, CT

Warm and comfortable setting, affable staff, and nice traditional Greek dishes with a side selection of fresh baked bread and gourmet pizzas. I was particularly thrilled to see the gluten free pizza and pasta options. Enjoyed my stuffed bell peppers, huge portion with plenty to take home. Looking forward to another visit soon!
