If I could give a ½ point, I would. I am embarrassed to have the new management of The Thai Restaurant represent Thai cuisine. I am ashamed to have customers who have never experienced Thai cuisine come to this establishment and try this food, leaving only to think this is authentic Thai cuisine. The food in this establishment represents nothing close to Thai cuisine. I can say with certainty after visiting other Thai restaurants and after traveling to Thailand. The quality of food is subpar. The Roti Chanai I ordered was a small and thick pancake, costing $5.95; when the original restaurant would serve a thinner, doughier, and crispier Roti. The pic I attached is of what they called "Panang Curry," which was made of only frozen green beans and frozen peppers that you would find at a local grocery store with a tasteless "curry" that I asked for as spicy; the only thing that was appetizing and genuine was the shrimp, which was jumbo in size and cooked decently - it was not worth an entree price. I would not recommend this establishment whether youre looking for Thai or Asian cuisine.

The Thai is an absolutely great restaurant! Delicious food, very friendly and professional staff, clean tables and pleasant atmosphere. Service is fast and accurate. The food is fresh, flavorful, delicious, and even the presentation is a winner! The prices are ridiculously low for such good food. My wife and I ate many delicious meals at The Thai and brought our friends and family, all of whom loved it. I would recommend this place to basically anyone unless they dont like Thai food. The lunch specials are especially low-priced and tasty! The desserts are really good too! Best Thai place Ive ever eaten at anywhere.

I come here all the time. The food is very good and super consistent. I do prefer it for take out rather than dine in, as they were without a liquor license for a while. During that time they were BYOB, which is fine, but I do enjoy a proper cocktail. Either way, the food here is great and definitely one of the best Thai places in New Haven in terms of food quality. I grab take out from here very regularly. Their Pad Thai is very solid.

The Thai has changed hands as of January 2015. Even though we really enjoyed the previous incarnation of this restaurant, the food is even better than before! They have a wider range of menu items than the usual Thai restaurants in the area, and even have Khao Soi noodles (aka Chiang Mai Noodles) ... something practically impossible to find, and a wonderful dish! Well be going back.

Delicious food. Its that simple. Affordable prices, convenient hours, and fast service. I eat here frequently and look forward to it every time. My favorite dish is the mixed vegetables. I order it with no meat or tofu. It may sound boring, but the sauce is fantastic. The portion is big enough to share, or have leftovers. About to pick it up for dinner right now!

I was pleasantly surprised by the food from this strip mall Thai Restaurant. The Shumai was flavorful and looked freshly made, and the Pad Thai with chicken was nice and spicy as requested and quite flavorful. I got take out, but the restaurant was empty on a Wednesday evening. Give it a try, good food.

Very good good curry but not as tasty as the Thai restaurant in Naugatuck CT which is the Thai restaurant I go to most often. However the service is faster here. Fish dinner good but not great and somewhat over priced.

im a regular and have never been disappointed with the food or service. whether eating in or take out it is always a good experience. Sorry, but if it was down on Chapel St. by the others it would put them out of business.

Dont expect professional service is a family business and food may have some family taste but if is mote than 6 tables occupied the service it getting slow. I do recommend curry shrimp.

The new management is poor - food quality has decreased and they always have some issue getting my order correct or incorrectly charging my credit card. Will not be going back.

Good food. Small portions for a Thai restaurant. Especially for growing boys. Strangely high amount of eye contact with overall friendly servers.

Shrimp basil rice. Best fried rice in town! Their Spring rolls complement it nicely.
