This place is by far one of the worst excuses for a bar in New Haven and the owner/manager is a thick headed scumbag. I came in and I had one mixed drink and it came out to $9.00 I gave him a $50.00 the owner/manager (a fat guy with a cap) gave me back $11.00. I said right away hey I gave you a $50. He made a joke about it and walked away. I went after him as he walked away and I was polite about it and he started to fight with me telling me I was drunk and that I gave him a $20. Dude Im 200 pounds and had 1 drink Im definitely not drunk. When I told him hey check your cameras and youll see the truth he threw me out and threatener me with physical violence if I tried to re enter. Unbelievable, avoid this place at all costs the people here are low lives and care only about the money$$$.

the owner of Stella Blues is a scumbag. Not only is he a scumbag but he refused service to my friend because she is gay. We walked in there to have a drink, she politely asked for a mixed drink and he laughed and walked away only to walk back a minute later and asked us why we were still here and to get out and leave his bar,. We were shocked I was in disbelief, she attempted to ask him why he was denying her service and before she could finish her sentence he told her to shut the f up and get out, that drew the line for me and almost lead to an altercation. Safe to say I will never ever be back.

Arguably the best small music venue in southern Connecticut. One of the only places I know where you can hear live music 7 nights a week! Quality sound, good bands, and a friendly crowd. There is a moderately sized but quality tap selection, they have a really cool section of these “infusion” liquors (as someone mentioned before), and the bar tenders will keep you laughing all night (and are pretty easy on the eyes might I add. Haha). I honestly can’t see how anyone would give this place a bad review! Two thumbs up in my opinion.

Great bar. Awesome music, and the tuesday night open mic is awesome. The house band is great and many of the acts are good. However! There are one or two acts (tom applegate) that should never be let back in the building. This might be what others are referring to. That, and the owner could learn to not disrespect his patrons.

Stella Blues is the best thing thats happened to New Haven. The drinks are incredible...dont forget to try the jalapeno infused tequila, cucumber infused vodka or pinapple infused rum! By far the best mixologist in town. The bartenders will keep you laughing and the music will keep you moving

Kat Wright and the Indomitable Soul Band have a great performance at Stella Blues. I had a seat close to the stage. Only problem was that people would periodically stand in front of the patrons and we couldnt see the lead singer.

Great place to chill with friends and listen to live music. The back room and outdoor patio are great when you need a moment away. Theres a pool table but it takes a dollar to play. Within walking distance to lots of great places!

the owner is probably the worst person that ever walked on this earth. He is mean and dark spirited and i am pretty sure the devil is his only friend. For real tho he almost punched my mother in the face one night.

Im going with a mixed review...it is in the armpit of new haven but if youre a true music lover or musician, go there...great acts (I ANBASSA!!!) among many more.
