Its seat your self here which for a first timer is kind of confusing. We werent greeted upon entering. We awkwardly stood around and got a table. It was cool because they have board games available and families even with young kids were there playing (6pm Sat.) We ordered an asiago cheese pretzel with beer cheese, a mozzarella and pepperoni stuffed pretzel and a pretzel dog. We waited for around 30 minutes playing Uno and the food came out. A few problems; 1. The asiago pretzel was covered in dried out baked cheese. I was assuming it would be warm and melty, not hard and on the edge of burnt. The beer cheese was delicious though! 2. The pizza pretzel looked impressive. The pepperoni seemed to be uncured thick cut but was overcooked and chewy. The melty cheese was the best part and it was served with a mediocre marinara. 3. The waitress brought a regular pretzel instead of the pretzel dog and when we inquired as to why she stated "Oh I thought you said a traditional dog?" And we just stared and said "yes.... we did." By the time she came back with it (an additional 15mins) we were done and boxed it. 4. This is a distant cousin to an actual pretzel. It honestly tastes like a bread or pizza dough in a pretzel form. There was no chew, no outer layer of pretzel goodness. Auntie Annies in the mall does a better job at impersonating a pretzel. So all in all the waitresses were over worked and therefore inattentive which is why we didnt even attempt drinks. Food service is slower, especially when busy. Dont expect a pretzel pretzel. It isnt bad its just not a traditional soft, chewy pretzel. We wont be returning but if youre a local I suggest you try it out as we were looking forward to it for a long time and now were all set.

Went there for food and drinks the other night and have to say it was quite disappointing. First of all the service was HORRIBLE!!! The waitress wandered around the whole time as if she was clueless and had no idea what was on the menu herself! It took 10 - 15 minutes to get water and drink orders for just beer took even longer. Its not like it was busy either. When she finally took our food orders, she seemed even more perplexed and unsure about what we had ordered. We couldnt figure out what was going on with her. We definitely knew she was going to screw up our order and lo and behold she sure did. She missed two orders that we explicitly pointed out to her on the menu. The food was mediocre at best and way overpriced for what you get. You can get better pretzels at the mall. The grilled cheese was dryer than hell. The bread is like dry wall. The menu is very limited as well. maybe ten pretzels and a couple grilled cheeses. Theyll definitely need to introduce more items if they plan to stay viable. They ended up taking the two orders that were missed off our bill which was good but I dont think well be eating here again. The beer menu is decent so we would go back only for drinks but there are many other places to have a way better meal. I had higher expectations for this place but they have a long way to go. On well. First impressions are big when youre a brand new place and our first experience was lousy.

Sat on this one for a while. My first experiences were on opening night and the night prior. They had some kinks to work out most definitely, but have improved a bit. Service is good now, and the last 2 times Ive gotten pretzels they came really fast (compared to an hour and change on opening night) The beer selection is good, prices are average for a craft beer bar, but you get what you pay for. One of my biggest complaints with the place initially was the decor, or lack thereof, rather. They seem to be steadily filling it out and have increased visibility of the beer menus by throwing them up on a few screens around the bar. Not all the bartenders seem to be super familiar with the beer theyre serving, though. Should probably know your selection well at a craft beer bar. For food, I highly recommend the Asiago pretzel (or go during happy hour and get some stuffed pretzels for a good deal). To those weary about checking it out, as well as those who previously had bad experiences, go check it out.

Id probably give 3.5 stars if I could, but Im going to round-up. That half-star deduction is for the current tap list being >90% IPAs. Typically, the list is more varied, which is why Ive rounded upward. Also, the cocktails are a good emergency substitute for when the beers arent speaking to me. Im a big fan of the stuffed pretzels, and the Reuben is super tasty. The food service tends to be on the slow side, so plan accordingly. Minor flaws aside, the hop knot is worth a visit. I keep coming back, and so should you.

The decent drink selection is the only reason this place is getting two stars. The service was fine but the food was subpar. I ordered the roast beef grilled cheese and it was not good at all. I dont know what was worse the stale cracker like bread or the fatty, chewy, thick cut microwaved beef. The cheese was hardly melted and nothing about the sandwich was grilled. On a side note you may want to bring your own napkins and some snacks for when you leave hungry.

Always dirty countertops. Completely uneven bar and tables they layed planks and didnt use the sealant correctly so if u dragged your beer across the bar it could get tripped up or spill. Especially if you place it on two uneven planks. They just kicked us off our table even tho were Paying customers. Woulda dropped a hefty bill. Pretzil i got was not cooked fully through the meat... Bartenders bickering with eachother. Wasnt the best couple of experiences....

We had SO much fun here!! The drinks were great, there were a bunch of interesting sounding beers wed heard of but hadnt seen elsewhere, and more familiar options too! They had Cards Against Humanity, and we got together another group of people and had a blast with strangers!! The bar was crowded, but we got our delicious Caprese Stuffed Pretzel in good time, and the bartenders made sure we had what we wanted through the evening. I cant wait to go back!

This place is disgusting. I entered the establishment 10 min before 1130, and sat and waited for a waitress for about 5 min. She then took my order (including food) and then came back and told me the kitchen was closed. I think its completely absurd and unprofessional for a business who is known for their "pretzels" to not serve guests 4 min after 1130 their food order. I will not return, horrible service with stupid fake sarcasm and a smile. Thanks.

Tap list is great! Truely something for everyone, special beers get tapped on Tuesday - first visit was on a Tuesday, enjoyed some Sip of Sunshine. This establishment will only add to the craft brew renaissance Middletown is going through. As for the food, I do dont head here for the food, I am sure decent fare can be found here. Also Games!! Lots of board games, this place "fits" in this town and likely to stick around, Ill be back!
