The pizza is good tasting but BUT ! The owner is extremely rude and not professional. Me and my parents ordered 2 pizzas and one to go so i could eat it before i went to work. As my parents night started to end the waitress awkwardly mentioned that they had a family issue and said something about them potentially running out of dough. She made it seem like they were being rushed even though they were waiting for the take out order and there were no other patrons waiting to sit. Also there were other people still sitting who had already finished their meals. Eventually they were told that they needed to wait in the back by the oven for their take out and that the owner wanted to see us. So we did so hoping that the owner wanted to talk to us about if we liked the pizza and any questions that we had like a good business owner would do, but that was not the case. He got right in our face and started yelling and asking us if we knew the rules, telling us that we not allowed to stay at the table for our other pizza that we ordered to go. There were other tables available and there was not a line out the door of people waiting for tables. The owner also after yelling at us was not going to give us our pizza that we ordered and paid for, he started to pull it away from the counter and my dad had to ask him to put it in the box in front of us because he was worried he might spit in it. The sad thing is the pizza was good but the bizarre and unprofessional experience has left us and all of our clients with a bad taste in their mouth. Wish i could go back and try this pizza place again but after such a terrible experience i will NOT and tell everyone i meet how this owner acted, very unprofessional.

This is my second bad experience at this restaurant so decided it warranted a review. First let me start by saying the wings are great and the pizza is good, but the experience and service is so bad that its not worth coming here. The first bad experience was when one of the people in our party ordered a pizza that came with just meatballs but when it came out it had peppers and onions as well, which was not listed on the menu. When we tried to get the waiter he was no where to be find and when he finally was found we were told it was too late and the oven was off. Rather than take the pizza off the bill (which by the way wasnt eaten) the waiter said next time we come in "hes got us" whatever that means. He doesnt even know who we are nor will he remember me. Second, if they take a "summer break" and are closed this needs to be listed on the website. When your store hours are listed as "open" and the establishment is not open it is extremely frustrating for customers. At least get an answering machine that states the establishment is closed. Lastly, unrelated to my experience, reading these reviews and the responses from the owner are laughable. As someone whos family owns a business the first rule is the customer is always right. Arguing on a customers review is extremely unprofessional and deters clientele. All in all, the food was good but everything else sucked and is not worth it.

Let me start off by saying the food here is really freaking good. The reason for the 2 star rating is how unprofessionally they run the business. On more than one occasion weve tried to eat out here and the restaurant was closed on nights its supposed to be open which just makes me feel like why even waste the time driving there when they may or may not be open. My family has owned a business in southbury thats been open for 35 years. Weve never ever closed, not for family emergencies, not for weather, not for vacations because we believe our customers should be able to count on us so for them to be closed probably every other time we try to go there make absolutely no sense to me. Apart from that they dont have a hostess so when you arrive, if theres a line you have no one to give your name to or ask how long the wait is. Lastly, they make it very hard to have take out. We called once and they literally told us no they werent doing take out that night. To me they have the food down completely but not so much the actual ins and outs of running a business so that customers continue to come over and over without frustration. However if you are in the area and can stand the wait I do recommend trying your luck because the food is outstanding.

850 Wood Fire Italian Restaurant in Middlebury CT is a family friendly establishment. The waiting staff were very polite and strived for customer satisfaction. I was pleased on how well they took care of me and my family. 850 wood fire pizza is hands down the most delicious pizza I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I visited Naple Italy this year and 850 is still on top of my list. They pay really close attention to detail, presentation, and the quality of their food. Nothing short of the best. All their sauces, soups, and salad dressings are made in house from scratch. The sweet heat chicken wings are mouth watering goodness on a plate. Their home-made soups are outstandingly delicious.I try to go their atleast once a week and treat my self to a superb dining experience. Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Connecticut. But thats my opinion. Stop by and see for yourself. To the owner I love what you are doing with the place dont change a thing and keep striving for excellence. For any one that has or had something negative to say about this establishment is probably just the compatition trying to give them a bad name but the excellent food speaks for its self.

Let me just start by saying that the food here is AMAZING. Seriously, soup, apps, salads, 5 stars. And the pizza is possibly the best Ive ever tasted. Amazing crust, toppings that were so obviously fresh that it made the whole slice seem like a little slice of heaven. And the prices are reasonable, and we loved the beer/wine selection. Why the 3 stars? Service, service, service people...or a lack therof. Im not saying the people werent trying, I think they were..they just arent really good at what they do; especially when multi-tasking is required. Timing of food delivery was off, obvious confusion at times. Dont get me wrong, the service wasnt HORRIBLE. We waited a while and seemed abandoned at times, but weve had way worse. The food more than made up for it, but the service was notably bad enough to turn this otherwise 5 star review into a 3 star review.

All three of us were very disappointed. Two had pizzas and said that they were fair at best. There were no accommodations for diet restrictions. No gluten free pizza or pasta was available. The only thing on the menu that I could have was salad. It took a very long time to get the salad ( it came a long time after the pizza), and it was drowning in salad dressing. It was inedible. I should have sent it back but didnt. I did tell the waitress it had far too much salad dressing, she could plainly see that and that I didnt eat it. I did however, pay for it. I have never felt so unimportant in any establishment. I will not return and neither will my pizza loving companions. There are many better pizza restaurants in Middlebury.
