Nisen has wonderful sushi. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. I was there for lunch on Thursday. The service was extremely rushed during the courses and then the waitress was no where to be found when we needed the check and for the money to be collected. Last night we placed an order for pick up. We order 8 rolls and I requested extra wasabi. We received one small portion of wasabi. Enough for one person - not 4 and definitely not "extra." Every time I place an order for pick-up or delivery the order is screwed up. The prior pick-up, the soup leaked all over my car and the bottom of the bag broke because of the moisture. Its a ashame they repeatly cant get the service right, because the food is great. I hope they can improve the service because this would be one of the best sushi restaurants on Long Island.

I have enjoyed the food at this location for over 2 years. Today I couldnt finish all my food and asked them to wrap it up to take home. I truley enjoyed the food experience eating in. As usual, they stapled my doggie bag closed, but when I got home, opened the bag to put the food in the refrigerator, at the bottom of the bag was a "dead roach" on its back. Where there is one, there may be many more in thier kitchen. Im so disgusted! Sure my food was sealed in plasticware, but the idea of it possibly being alive in the bag and coming home with me to start a family of its within mine, is alarming. I think I will pass on Nisen from this day on.

I have usually had good experiences at Nisen, but the last time I was there, the service was far from good. We had a 7p reservation but didnt get seated until 7:45p. Yes, you read that correctly. Then when we were seated, it took our server at least 10 minutes to come and greet us, and then another 10-15 minutes before she came back to take our drink order. So if youre doing the math, for a 7p reservation, we didnt even order our drinks till after 8p. The food was great as always though, but the service was truly horrible, and that hasnt always been the case here. It made for an all around bad experience that night

I had been a regular customer of Nisen until a few days ago, when I really felt like I had been ripped off. It seems that the size of their rolls have shrunk. Instead of raising prices, they have just made their special rolls alot smaller. The "Shining Roll", which cost $18, is basically a spicy tuna roll with sweet shrimp on top. It was the size of a regular $6 roll. I wont be going there anymore. Their prices and quality do not compare to Kotobuki.

As a ocean captain and lover of fresh seafood, I know good from GREAT. We were surprised at the quality and the presentation. I have been eating off the menu for years around the world and requested the sushi master to make a special hand roll. Not thinking he might have the special wrap, he smiled and presented me with art. Uni, Shiso leaf and wasabi tobiko. It was beautifully wrapped in a Isonoyuki (kelp) wrap.

Have been going there for years. last week we ordered take out we were made to wait 40 minutes we asked a few times were our order was only for then to find out it was ready the whole time. Said something to the manager who said they were busy. Did not even apologize. so going forward we will not go to any of their restaurants and they will be less busy. problem solved

Nisen knows sushi! They serve up some of the most creative rolls and appetizers Ive ever tasted on Long Island. Check out the specials menu. They will make anything with soy paper if you prefer it over seaweed. Ordering the Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna is a MUST! And, if you really want to treat yourself, try the TNT roll. Its out of the this world!

Sit at the bar when there. Excellent bartender. She really gives great suggestions. Recommended the Miso Eggplant Appetizer which was amazing. The only down side is it is quite expensive. Sushi Rolls upwards of $20 each. Would be there very often if priced better.

This was a great quaint sushi place. Then they expanded and redecorated and its now very foo-foo...and now very expensive. I guess they have to pay for the construction. I avoid it now. Too uppity and so are the people that go there!

consistently delicious, with large slabs of fresh fish draped over vestigial rice wedges. owner tom has had one of long islands top sushi houses. once youve eaten here, youll be disappointed to eat sushi anywhere else.
